  1. I posted the same question under the insurance thread last week. Someone sent me the website (can't find it) of Four Corners Insurance. The number is 1-800-335-0611. I called and spoke with them very briefly. They sent me an email with info. I'll try to pm it to you. I think there is a policy one can purchase that covers up to 60 days post surgery. I want to say it was around $350.00 but I'm sure. I was in a ruch at the time. I meant to call back today and didn't get a chance. I want to be sure that I'm covered in some way directly after surgery. I'd like it to be longer than 60 days but I'll take what I can get.

  2. Hey...

I'm scheduled for 11/14 in Mexico. I return home on 11/19 (sat) and planning to work that Monday. I'm just curious to see if other educators were able to return successfully that quickly? I'm thinking about taking that Monday off and working tues & wed...Thoughts???

    Hi,

Are you sure you've got those dates right? I'm getting sleeved in Mexico on Nov. 19th and that is a Monday. I;ll fly home on Nov. 23 (Friday) and return to work on Monday. This will be during my Thanksgiving break. If I feel that I need a couple of more days, I'll call my principal and tell her I had to have surgery over the break and won't be able to come in unitl midweek.

  3. I was on a really tight deadline, if I couldn't get the surgery in the first few weeks of November I would have had to wait until April to get it done. I have WAY too much anxiety to go through this alone so I *need* my husband there with me, and my mother was only available to watch my kids until mid November... after that she's gone to Arizona until late March or early April. Needless to say I was really panicked when my flight was cancelled, I was afraid that last minute fares for new tickets would be more than I could afford and that I'd have to wait until April. I was sobbing to my husband that I felt as though I lost 6 months of my life, dramatic much? :) Really though it was a huge blow on that day, I woke up at 3am to take my flight, got on the plane, and then when I got to the connecting flight found out it was cancelled... and I had to turn around and go back home. Booooo.

This time around though, I'm flying in the day before so that should help with some of the stress (It would have been hard to do 8 hours of flying when you're not allowed to drink ANYTHING - airplane air is so dry!) - at least now I can drink Water on the plane since i'll only be having surgery the next day.

Oh and just to say how sweet Dr ponce de leon is... he was fully booked on the only dates that worked for me (due to last minute plane tickets, there was only a very small window where they were affordable) but he told me to go ahead and book it and that he'd fit me in. How often would a surgeon here say something like that!

Gosh, I didn't realize you had gotten half way there only to have to turn around and go home. Huge disappoinment, for sure. Something wasn't right. Seriously, when things like that happen I really think that it's God's way of protecting you from something. Who knows? If that flight had not been cancelled it might have crashed. Who knows? Anyway, you've got you appt. and it's gonna happen.I'll be looking for your posts. :):):)

  4. I am supposed to send in my paper work tomorrow to have surgery on Nov 20th and now I find out I will have to go alone. And lots of other things going on here at home that make it difficult to put ME first. I will probably have to just forget it. I am just in tears. I want this so much, but I can't see me doing this by myself.

Who is your surgeon? If it's Dr. Ponce I'll be there with you. :)

  5. Hi Georgia Girls,

Thanks so much for your responses! If you haven't already, post what city/town in which you live and the date of your surgery. Mine is coming up in a few weeks... Nov. 19th and I'm venturing off to Mexico for it. Don't worry, I've researched it thoroughly. Perhaps we can all get together in a few months after we're all done with our surgeries if we live close enough to each other. :)

  6. Wow! Never judge someone till you walk a day in their shoes.... and not even then! I'm so sorry you had to listen to a response like that. That's precisely the reason I've chosen not to tell anyone. My surgery is Nov. 19th and I'm keeping it to myself. You know you did the right thing for you. Dust off her ugly words and keep your chin up. :)

  7. I'm American and own my home. It's actually paid off but I do have some other debt that I'm currently trying to wipe out. I want to be one of those debt free persons that Dave Ramsey always talks about. Started googling tonight and will continue tomorrow. This sucks but I'm glad Bos123 started this thread. I guess I had just put this concern on the back burner.

  8. Just read the insurance question post by Bos123 and I'm starting to get really paranoid and apprehensive. I'm a teacher and although my salary is pretty good for my field, I sure as heck can not afford to have major complications resulting in thousands of dollars of debt. No way! My school system insurance plan excluded everything related to WLS last year so if something happens the bills come to me. This is the reason i decided to go to Mexico in the first place. i was prepared to pay for follow up care to my PYP but the thought of bills for complications scares me.

Please, can anyone recommend an insurance company that offers cross border insurance? I'm starting to think that if I can't get this I might have to cancel my Nov. 19th surgery with Dr. Ponce. What are the rest of you doing? Help!

  9. Surgery scheduled three weeks from now. What kind of bra should I take to wear post surgery? I am well endowed, by the way. Would a Cotton pull over sports bra be too difficult or painful to put on? How about a sorts bra that zips up the front?
