  1. Ice skating would be awesome and oy list, too, if weren't so concerned about falling ony knees and banging them up worse than they already are. Aren't you in Marietta? You could take adult lessons at that ice skating rink out your way.

    Am i the only one?

Awesome post, Cheri! I definitely needed to read and remind myself of this. Thanks. Thanks also to the original poster for bringing this topic up. :)
  3. YES! I stalled at that point. Dropped a little more and am stalled again... 23 pounds downs and over 5 weeks out. I suppose we must give our bodies time to adjust. A friend form the board, Charissa had surgery the smae day I did with the same surgeon and she had only lost one more pound than me.

    Tummy Tuck Scar

Thanks. Does she have a website? What's her first name? She's in TJ, right?
  5. Hi All, I'm 5 weeks post sleeve and am using ScarGuard daily to try and fade & smooth out these 5 scars as soon as possible. I'm wondering what other people are using for their scars. Also, can you post how far you are out from surgery and how your scars are looking? FYI, I am a natural redhead and very fair-skinned. People with a fairer skin tone tend to wind up with less visible scars in the long run from what I understand.

    Going to Mexico alone

I went alone. It was a piece of cake. Had someone there to pick me up at the airport. No trouble crossing border. Felt safe the entire time I was there.

    Tummy Tuck Scar

Thanks for posting the pic. I can't even really tell where your scar is. Who did your TT in TJ? I had my sleeve done there by dr. Ponce de leon.

TheCurvyJ, I looked a little around for a support group but the few I found were way outside the perimeter. I need to check into the one at Dekalb Med. Ctr. I live very close by there. I love your idea of starting a meetup group. Did you check to see if there is one already going for people intown? Think I'll check that out but if you started one up for people living onside the perimeter I'd join! Where do you live?

Hi TeachBear. I'm so sorry you're feeling do bad. Is it mostly gas pain along with incision pain? I was sleeved 11/23/12 and my gas pains were so bad that I just laid in bed and cried and cried. I promise it will get better. Do you have anyone at your home to help you while you're feeling so bad? Where in Atlanta do you live? I'm in the City of Decatur area.

    Realization

    Yayayayayayay!
  11. You've lost 15 pounds in 21 days? That's great. Be happy with this. Don't compare yourself to others. I think your loss sounds pretty normal. I'm at 4 weeks and lost right at 22.
  12. Craving cabbage. Would it kill or stretch my stomach if I have some?

40 staples out and on to puree

    Oh jeez!

Oh my goodness. Be sure to get to the doctor tomorrow morning. Wouldn't be a little too soon to have developed gallstones? Hoping whatever it is, you are better very soon. Keep us posted.

    Not Telling People....

Very interesting comments here. It's a personal decision, that's for sure. I don't really appreciate anyone questioning or judging one's integrity for those of us who choose not to tell people. I told only one person. I may choose to tell other people once I have most of my weight off. Maybe, maybe not. I do think there is something to be said for letting other people know about one's WLS in order for it to be less taboo and for others to know what a life change it could be. However, I for one do not want the talk and gossip, especially in my workplace. And, no, it isn't being overly sensitive to people's words or running away from the truth, etc. It's simply my business as are a plethora of other things in my life. Two words people: don't judge.
  17. Mine was at 39 yet I know it was the right decision for me. Don't let this deter you. We all know our own bodies, habits, obsessions, etc.

Ahhh, sheesha & shay... ahhh. There's a terrific Turkish restaurant just near my home and I can never, ever get used to them calling it hooka. I just read a post on google that recommended not fasting during the first Ramadan post surgery. Feeding people at the mosque is a lovely idea. Have you ever experienced a Ramadan on Egypt? I LOVE it. Everything is so festive with all the fanooses hanging everywhere. Really beautiful!

Well, that it falls in the summer makes it harder anyway. When I lived in Cairo it fell right around November/December so it made it at least a little easier to fast compared to the blaring hot weather in the summer months. If you want to fast but feel uncomfortable because of surgery then the medical issue allows you not to fast, of course. Shoot you just might have the rest of your weight off by then anyway. Even though you aren't religious or whatever, ask your doctor. I'd be curious as to what he would say considering we're really suppose to eat every 3 hours. Maybe I'll google it and see it there's any info on this. Even though I'm American, I feel so bonded to people with Middle Eastern heritage. :) Loving this thread, too. Can't wait to see who else pops up!

Gosh, I can feel your frustration and don't blame you at all. Keep calling them. Did they originally lead you to believe that you'd be sleeved before the end of 2012? Sounds like it if you are on your per op diet. So sorry but KEEP CALLING!

Hi guys! I guess you can tell how much I love that part of the by my user name on this forum. Selbradey, I was actually supposed to be sleeved the same day as you but had to move it to the 24th due to an illness in my family. Can you believe that of my two years in Cairo, I never made it to Alexandria? I could kick myself but there were so many wonderful places in which to travel, I just never got there. Sure wish I had! Is your Arabic fluent? I learned enough to get most needs and wants met and even learned to read and write it (loved it!) but, alas, I have lost it from not using it. So disappointing because I worked hard to learn it. I think I'd pick it back up if I were living in an Arabic speaking country pretty easily though. Of course, when I travel to places like Syria, for example, I was teased about my "Egyptian Arabic". Congrats on your sleeve and your terrific progress thus far. Catherine, I live in Georgia but had my sleeve in Mexico. I was self pay because my insurance would not cover surgery. So, I did a ton of research and found a doctor I felt safe with and also conversed with some of his former patients. It has worked out well. Would love to one to Lebanon and devourer lamb with your hubby. Where in Lebanon do you live? We're you sleeved there? Selbrady, so glad you started this thread!!
