  1. Yes , I can tell you I feel as if I were 21 years of age again . I've lost 159 lbs in almost a year and so great full for this opportunity I had to get this surgery done . I had high blood pressure , high cholesterol and borderline diabetes . My father had his first heart attack at 45 and I'm 3 years away from that so I have taken precautionary measured . I used to take medication for my illness and since my surgery I have not taken a pill . I wish I had done this a long time ago .

    Good luck !!

  3. Ok I deliver dairy products to a convenient store chain . My 70 yr old mother and my wife get diarrhea when they drink milk . Since the regular milk made them sick they changed to lactaid .

One day I brought some 2% in a carton instead of a plastic container . Well , both my mother and wife drank some of the milk I brought in the carton . Amazingly , neither got sick and up to this day they both drink regular milk but only out of a carton . It might be worth a try : )

  4. So I am two weeks post op and made it to Onederland today <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />. Very exciting!! I did great with surgery and the two days in hospital. However' date=' this has been very challenging both mentally and emotionally. Each day seems to get a little better though. I'm thankful for this forum and all the great discussion and advice. On that note, how about some advice for getting in more liquids? I'm not doing the best in that department. Water actually makes me sort of nauseous, is this common?? I'm also on puréed foods, any suggestions other than yogurt, cottage cheese, etc?[/quote']

What I would do , boil chicken with veggies add your own spices . I would just drink the broth and maybe eat some of the veggies .

  5. Hello sleever's

Amazingly I met a sleever at one of my stops as I was making a delivery . The clerk introduced us as she is aware of our surgery . As I was talking to the fella , he got his surgery 3 months before I did and had lost a total of 170 lbs . This is great ! But as I watched him purchase his lunch he bought a liter of diet coke , king size snicker bar , regular size payday and some ruffles . As I was thinking to myself , wow this guy is going back to his old habits and headed for failure . After he left , the clerk informed me that was his everyday purchase and shakes the soda till its flat before drinking it . I think that's sad , especially when my company delivers fresh deli sandwiches , fruits , vegetables and salads on a daily basis in plastic cups or containers . Anyways , why would someone go thru the procedure and time to lose the weight to just go back to his old ways and start gaining his weight back ? I felt bad for the guy and wanted give him some advise but he looked like he was in a rush . He still looked to be around or near 300 lbs . I guess experiencing what I saw that night just gave me more strength and has made me continue on the right path as I have been for the last year . I hope you sleever's take this surgery seriously and commit to it for the rest of your life . Remember ( it is only a tool)

  6. That is incredible. You should be so very proud if yourself. In just starting my journey. I was sleeved on August 27th. Please share some of your wisdom that you have learned over the year. How did you stay motivated? What are your favorite meals? Did you exercise if so when did you start? Peace.

Well as you probably know , you should be walking everyday . Now , as far as my meals .

The first month or so , I stayed on the liquid diet .

After that I started on boiled vegetables . Along with my shakes . 4 month , I started on the cheese and dairy and meats like broiled chicken or broiled steaks I would eat my Protein first 1/2 ounce then I was full . I was told not to by others but , I did anyways . For the first couple of months I would only eat 1/4 cup each meal . Water 45 min before and 45 to an hour after each meal . I usually drink gator aid . Just to stay hydrated .

6 months after I noticed that my meal size went to 1/2 cup of food . I ate anything with the exception of bread or soda . I noticed that , i have a taste for dry fruit and nuts . i usually keep a jar that i mixed (from walmart) of fruit and nuts like almonds and pistachios . little cashews just to snack if i became hungry in between meals .Stay focused on eating 3 meals per day So that it becomes a habit . Now , my meal size is almost a cup of food . I take my measuring cup everywhere I go . That is my tool . ( get to know your measuring cups) it may look funny or strange to some but I careless what they think . As long as I eat the right portion of what I'm suppose too its all good .

  7. Hey fellow sleevers' date=' down 93lbs with 15 more lbs to go. Am 6 months out - no complications except a dodgey gallbladder that I refuse to get taken out! No hair loss, no stalls, and minimal lose skin so far.

Attached is a cheesy bikini pic that I was going to save to compare to my one year when I have abs of steel and a killer tan to match - but what the hell. I was really curious to see others post weight loss to see scaring and lose skin etc but they are really hard to find! So heres mine! Please note that this is post c-section of a 9lb baby 11 months ago!

If any are brave enough to share theirs please do - I need inspiration!

Wow you look very good . No loose skin from what I can see . I have lost 120 lbs in the 8 months and have sagging skin around my waist .

How did you manage not to get sagging skin?

  8. Hello

So I had my 6 month check up with my doctor and have learned that I lost 76% of my excess body fat . I have lost a total of 100 lbs and need 35 more to go . I am noticing that I'm not losing as much weight per week as I have in the past and feeling more of an appetite . I have made changes to my diet , like eating more nuts and fruits and less meats but still am not dropping the pounds like in the past . Any suggestions anyone ?

  9. I was sleeved the 31st and I don't seem to have a limit on liquids. I can't gulp' date=' but it seems like I can drink a lot. Some people were talking about a medicine cup full every half hour or something, I can just keep going. Is this a bad thing? Will all this change once I can eat? Thanks for any thoughts.[/quote']

I was sleeved on the 23rd and I was the same . I still can drink all I want but my food intake is very limited.
