  1. Oh man I hate it too!!!! I have a gym membership that I use maybe twice a month. But, I always park in the back when I go to work or stores, I use the stairs several times a day, and I'm a nurse so I get my 10,000 steps a day. I found Yoga by Adrienne on YouTube and she has a two 30 day challenges. I love it! I started for the stress relief. Not only are my moods better but now I have muscle tone and flexibility. I love it and it's the perfect end to my hectic days! The key is just finding something you enjoy doing.

  2. Of course you're relevant! You provide such knowledge and experience that is needed for those who want the truth. I'm 3 years out but haven't logged in for a year or more due to all the useless bickering. BUT for those truly seeking answers, people like you are valued. There are a lot of people who just read and don't post. I'm sure you've helped more people than you know.

  3. Hey guys and gals! I decided to give the 5:2 a try! After nursing school and the holidays, I've managed to put on 15 pounds and I feel like I've put on 50. My goal is to lose those 15 plus another 20 maybe. Yesterday was my first fast and it was hard and empowering at the same time. I drank tons of Water which I have been having a terrible time doing since surgery over two years ago. At around 3pm I ate 6 cherry tomatoes (13 calories) and around 6:30 I had seafood spaghetti (400 calories). Plus the milk in my coffee, I ended the day at 492 calories.

I think waiting until the end of the day to eat really helped me get through my evening workout and to sleep without being hungry. I plan to do Monday and Friday because my husband works those nights.

How is everyone doing? Are there any long term success stories? Is this maintainable? What is your fast day routine?

  4. Right now I'm watching Call The Midwife and Peaky Blinders. I agree, grab the box of tissues for Call The Midwife! If you're into dark, slightly inappropriate, and disturbing entertainment.....Black Mirror is probably the best show I've ever seen. There's only six shows and it's like a modern day Twilight Zone that explores the possibilities of technology and human behavior.

  5. Lots of good points here! Everyone's reasons for telling or not telling are personal and they are entitled to that! I like the idea of this forum because we all have something in common and we should be able to speak freely about weight loss surgery! Unfortunately, there's still ridicule and wagging fingers if things aren't done exactly how some think it ought to be done.

Just because I choose not to share my truth doesn't in any way shape or form mean I'm lying to myself. And just because I had WLS does not mean I'm obligated to be an advocate for it. WLS isn't some big secret that people don't know about. If it's something they are interested in they will find their way without me introducing the procedure to them. If I am in a conversation where one shares their interest in having it done, I will share my experience.

We've all gone through a lot to be where we are. No matter where you are in your journey, be proud of yourself for taking control of your life. Don't allow anyone to shame you for your decisions. Good luck to everyone!

  6. I went from telling everyone to telling no one, so I understand both sides. I got tired of defending myself. Truth is, educating people doesn't always or in my case ever sway someone's opinion about wls. I've since left my job where everyone knew about my surgery and now only friends and family know. I got so tired of my weight being the topic of discussion. I'm 2 years out now so it isn't at the forefront of everyone's mind when they see me now, thank goodness! I can definitely understand why people would want to keep it secret especially they have a lot of people in their lives. The conversations about what I'm eating and how much I've lost and why I reverted to wls get old real quick! But more power to those who continuously stick up for us!! WLS was a life saver for me!

  7. What are you able to eat now? I'm almost 2 years out so I don't remember the stages, but if you're on liquids or soft foods it might be why you're not satisfied as long. Maybe plan 3 meals with Snacks in between at specific times to keep hunger at bay. I literally eat my meals and snacks at specific times every day and track it on myfitness pal or I'll be all over the place with calories.
