  1. 3 of my incisions opened aftdr 2 weeks post op. 2 the size of erasers and one the size of a quarter! I kept them covered at work because I'm a hairstylist and uncovered at home. I made sure to keep them clean and watched very closely for infection. They healed on their own in about 8 weeks. I'm 8 months out now and the scars are wide but fading a lot.

    What is your biggest vice?

Doritos!!!! Omg! I eat like 3 -5 chips a day! My husband keeps them in the house and I can't stay away! That's my current goal. To stay away from those little devils!

    Negative self-image

Hey lady! I don't know how to help but I really hope you find your worth. You deserve it! 120 pounds lost is amazing! Open your mind to this wonderful new shot at life. Maybe look through the self help section of the bookstore. If your spiritual, The Power of Positive Thinking by Vincent Peale is a good one. Sometimes I need a little outside help to free my mind of negativity too. You just finished school ....what a great accomplishment! I know how stressful and scary it is to start a new chapter in life but embrace it. Be proud and hopeful of the future. I'm thinking of you and sending positive vibes your way. Take care!

I HAVE COME FULL CIRCLE! I HAVE EVLOVED!

Wow!!! Look at you! You look amazing! Congratulations on your success and your health. I'm so happy for you!
  6. I have been obsessively waiting for my Bodymedia to arrive. It finally came today. I was so excited to set it up I opened the box while walking home from the mailbox! As I'm trying to set it up the armband snaps!!! Sad. I emailed the company and within 5 minutes I get a reply. They are overnighting TWO armbands AND giving me an extra month of free subscription which makes 4 free months! Wow! I just had to share!

    MFP

Hey Oregondaisy! Do you have a food scale? I weigh everything. It's probably not 100% but it's as accurate as I can get it. Once you use MFP for a while it gets easier. Especially if you a lot of the same stuff regularly.

    Food vs vitamin bills

It seems expensive in the beginning but I don't do shakes anymore and I only take a multivitamin. Plus, I rarely go out to eat which was roughly $300-$400 a month before surgery!

    Three Year Update

Woohoo! 3 years! You're doing great! Congratulations on your beautiful new addition to your family. I have a 10 month old and I understand how hard it is to stay focused with little ones, work, school, maintaining a house hold, etc. It's something to be VERY proud of. It's easy for me to be hard on myself and difficult to give myself credit for all I've accomplished. I can't wait to be where you are (if I ever make it lol)!

Honestly, how much do you vomit?

I hope it gets figured out mwrarr! That's got to be miserable!
  11. I know two other people who've had the sleeve and my mom lost a lot of weight without surgery. My friend, mom, and I have had to get our gallbladders removed! Insurance will only cover it if there's a problem but it probably is a good idea to get it checked before the sleeve surgery. If you can get it done at the same time, it'd be nice! I wish I did.
  12. Everyone is complaining. Just about different things.
  13. Stalls- in the beginning, during a stall I would get really frustrated and scared. I just went through such a dramatic surgery and I wanted immediate results! Now I know it's a part of the process and I don't expect to lose everyday! As a matter of fact, with the exception of one month, I've consistently lost 8-10 pounds a month. Those pounds come off over the period of a few days every month. The rest of the month I don't lose an ounce! The first 5 months were the hardest. I had a month long stall and was losing very slow (or at least I thought I was). After 5 months, things became more consistent. What changed after the 5 month mark was I was able to eat more and began an exercise routine. I try not to go under 1200 calories and I work out 4-6 times a week. I have one day a week where I eat whatever I want. I believe it kicks up the metabolism. It's worked for me anyway. Don't be scared of stalls. Once you realize they are going to happen and you trust in what your body is doing, this process will go a lot smoother. This isn't another fad diet. If you follow the plan, you will lose......eventually. Under 1200 calories doesn't work for me. Not mentally or physically. I don't lose weight and I'm extremely moody and fatigued. I'm still fighting to build a healthy relationship with food. Like today, I'm hormonal and ate ice cream AND baklava! It made me more depressed. Food doesn't make me happy anymore yet my brain still thinks it does. I feel like that issue is improving though. Sure I have off days (usually around that time of month). I'm not giving up but I know realistically this will always be a struggle. 8 months out and I'm down 90 pounds. Gone from a size 24 pant to a 12/14. I've gained confidence and hope for the future. For those just starting out, this is an amazing journey. You'll have fears of failing. You'll have off days and fall off the wagon. Don't give up! I can't wait to be talking about my journey when I'm at goal and maintaining! Good luck to everyone!

    dating and body issues...

My husband's initial attraction to me was my body at close to 300 pounds. He likes big women. Now he loves me no matter what! But there are a lot of men who are attracted to big women just like there are those attracted to skinny women.

    Full fat, low-fat, or fat-free?

Full fat supporter here too! I always read the ingredients and if the list is long, has words I can't pronounce, has hydrogenated oils, color number whatever, etc I don't eat it! If you do most of your shopping around the perimeter of the grocery store (meats, produce, dairy) you should be fine. I eat 1200-1500 calories a day so each meal is under 400 calories. Usually about 300 calories. I use real mayo and sour cream. Make my own dips and salad dressings. At my grocery store, Chobani yogurt is the only one without a long list of chemicals in it. Good luck!

    dating and body issues...

Bottom line is if he likes you none of that will matter. If it scares him off well it's better now than when you've developed strong feelings for him later. You're doing amazing! Congrats on your continued success!

Honestly, how much do you vomit?

I've never had the band so when I read the title of this post, I was like huh?!?! Such an odd question. Lol. I've only vomited once because I was stupid and ordered a draft beer at a restaurant. I took a big ol sip of the foam on top.....what an idiot, right?!?! About 10 minutes later I felt very sick and ran for the bathroom!!! Lesson learned!

    Trader Joe's and Costco

Trader Joe's Mediterranean hummus is soooooo yummy!!!!!
  22. Does anyone not track their calories? I'm an on and off again tracker. What I've noticed is when I track my calories throughout the day, I obsess a d eat my max calorie allowance. If I don't track throughout the day, I'll do it before bed because I'm curious. But I notice I only eat like 600-700 calories. My mind likes to play evil tricks on me! Thoughts?

Whole Foods: what are your must- haves?

I've only been there maybe 2 times. Most of what you find there you can find at Kroger for half the price. It might save you a long trip and money if you check out your local grocery stores organic sections. It is fun to check it out though.
