  1. Anybody know some tricks to keep my thirst at bay. In tears again. I've tried everything I can think of. Iggy, how long were you NPO?
  2. I had my surgery on the 19th. Came to the ER with chest pains, they diagnosed costochondritis and sent me home. Came back 11 days ago and they did a CT scan, saw an abscess and they admitted me. Had emergency exploratory surgery to see what caused them and drain the leak. It wasn't until yesterday they found a leak. I'm on strict NPO, and TPN (have been since admitted) and will be for at least a minimum of two more weeks. Then they'll do another barium swallow and check the leak's progress. Then discuss a stint. Have a drain, had an ng tube, etc. Even with my comorbidites it wasn't worth this.
  3. Looks like I'll be in here until Christmas at least. Woo. This surgery has so far proven to be the biggest mistake I've made in my 25 years of life.
  4. They finally found the leak. It's weeks more strict NPO or ANOTHER surgery, with MORE surgical risks. I smell a lawsuit. Also can't stop crying and I am NOT a crier. I'm incredibly tempted to walk downstairs right now and interrupt my surgeon during his WLS seminar just to let people know, I'm the face of his "first" sleeve leak.
  5. Alright. I have never felt so much rage and hatred towards a mass of people. Now I'm in isolation, my drain test came back with what they think is MRSA and my radiologist said something "looked funny" when she did my barium swallow this morning. I'm a ball of fury today. So far, my sleeve was not worth it. At all.
  6. I can't decide what's worse. The strict npo diet or trying to sleep with a partially collapsed lung. AND- I know it's normal but I've GAINED weight being on fluids and TPN. Such a rotten feeling lol.
  7. Not what it is, turned out to be leak.
  8. Very Dosed. I'm alive. Ng tube out today. Endoscope and ct scan say there's no leak to be seen now but was probably caused by committing early out. Will update later. Thanks guys
  9. Emergency surgery in the am. Doxie, I'm in Indians. Thanks for prayers, I need them.
  10. I'll probably have to go back into surgery. Dr said its a leak and is calling my surgeon. I'm terrified.
  11. Just got back from CT scan. Took 6-7 sticks to start IV. Couldn't draw blood. Gave me Zofran and dilaudid. Just started me on fluids and Thiamin.
  12. On my way back. Nauseous and vomitting, can't drink or sleep. Ugh.
  13. On my way back to the ER. I'm super nauseous and vomitting now. Can't rest, can't breathe, can't keep fluids in.
  14. 263 last week, 257 today.
  15. Huge flare up and dr says no NSAIDs. I've been taking Tramadol and LorTab every 4 hours and have an ice pack clutched to my chest 24/7. It's just getting harder to breathe and I can find no way to get comfortable. I'm really struggling to get in my fluids because 1-it hurts to swallow 2- my pain meds are making me nauseous. Advice? Alternate treatments? Anyone relate?
  16. I don't do this because I'm not an emotional person but it means the world to me that you guys care enough to pray. My mom wouldn't even wake up. It's weird to feel strongly and close to somebody you've never met. I have a special love and IMMENSE respect for all of you that took the time to post well wishes. <3 Special thanks to Iggy and her courage to be honest and inform us newbies that anything big or small shouldn't be taken lightly. And Fyre Storm-keep on making me hungry with your posts! I can't wait until I can start solids because I found a SF cake that I'll be making just for foodies like us And if all of you don't mind, pm me your email or real address so I can send you some more personalized thanks. Thanks everyone! You're all in my thoughts tonight and I will absolutely pay it forward!
  17. Alright my second guess was right, it's another costochondritis flare up. Without being able to take the NSAIDs I need, they're sending me home with Tramadol and I have to ice my sternum every hour. Uuuugh. Oh well, nothing I haven't dealt with before and at least it's not a leak!!
  18. Gotta say, I'm super impressed with the ER. I've had an EKG, chest X-ray, IV placed and bloodwork in just 30 minutes. Thanks all for the prayers! And Iggy, your story is what kept me from staying at home just to see if it got better or worse. I'm hoping it's something simple!
  19. I'm dreading this as much as I hate the intensifying chest pain I've been having for 10 hours. Uuuugh. Just hope it's nothing major! Fingers crossed for the ever embarrassing "it's just gas" diagnosis. Bleh.
  20. In Cosemetology school and with my clients I've seen and been taught first-hand that excessive washing WILL break and further damage hair. Every other day is a perfectly healthy washing schedule. In fact, recommended by for the upkeep of thin and damaged hair. ESPECIALLY if you're using some craptastic pharmacy shampoo. The placenta and wax in those are more damaging than natural oil could ever be.
