  2. Great job! You deserve to be proud!
  3. Yep.. Had prescription for hibicleanse to use four days preo 2x a day!
  4. GRATZ! Cant wait to be where you are! Passed it by in high school somwill be magical!
  5. It took 3 weeks for the ole taste buds to get to normal. Coffee just now is even close to bearable again. I liked that i got weaned off reg coffee so going to try to stick to decaf only in the future.
  6. Wow jane! Gratz! What a magnificent day!
  7. Just be careful with juice. Cutting it with Water helps, but will still cause a sugar peak and when you crash youll be hungry so will work yourself into a viscious cycle. Ok in a pinch, but best go with gatorade, g2 and milk. My energy level got way too low so doc made these suggestions. Good luck... Feel better.
  8. This such a trigger food for me... I bought a jar of the regular and the chocolate too preop and used them way way too fast. I knew i couldnt limit peanut butter so should have known this is STILL peanut butter... But used the reduced fat/calories as an excuse to try it. Im going to have to be better at limiting before i ever buy it again. Just be careful and log it with everything else you eat.
  9. Ahhh what a feeling! Cant wait to follow in your foot steps!
  10. Some carbs are still important so maybe use real milk 1% to mix your shakes... Or g2 for the extra few carbs and other nutrients. An extra quality pre mixed shake might help. The goal thenpreop is to drastically cut the carbs and for some, to lose weight so if you are doing that, your good to go... But you still need to be nourished enough to be able to walk into the hospital!
  11. I am single and depend on a good job so i would have to do what was necessary to secure it. If starting the job and showing your skills and commitment a couple of months sets you up for a better relationship with your employer, and secures that job for you for years to come, then thats what you might need to do.
  12. Nope.. All docs are different... I was clear liquids two weeks prior and thats it. Just follow doctors orders.
  13. My nut said to think of it two ways..... If it breaks down with mainly saliva and little to no chewing.... Like crackers or chips.. It is a slider and moves through too quickly. BUT You can also make good foods sliders by adding goop to them causing them to slide on through your tummy too quickly.. Ex.. Too much mayo in tuna, too much gravey on beef or drinking at the same time while eating! The goal is dense Protein to cause the pylorus to close.
  14. Once i had made the decision to go forward i could never have waited until september! Do you know what your insurance requires? If theres a 6 month supervised diet, you might want to go to your pcp and get that documentation going. I would be looking for another doctor ...i just could not have been patient enough to wait so long! Good luck!
  15. Theres a huge thread on this from a couple of weeks back.. Search hypothyroidism
  16. Wow! Gratz granny! I have two more years of "must work" until retirement, but then want to volunteer as well.
  17. I had to delete the app and reinstall several times before it finally connected correctly. Ipad issue... No pc probs.
  18. You will be in and out so fast you wont need much of anything. I hauled 80% of the stuff i took home unused. Toothbrush, lotion, chap stick, hair brush, same clothes home as you came in and pillow waiting in the car mainly for security.
  19. My doc said walk only, no zumba or other core exercising that will cause me to twist my abdomen area for 6 weeks.
  20. That is his protocol to make sure you allow your new stomach to heal properly and that you dont do the wrong thing and damage it. The whole length of your stomach is a raw wound. Your stomach is swollen and numb so you cannot "feel" what is happening there so taking small sips of only liquids keeps fluids and nourishment moving through it effortlessly. Just do what he says, get off to a wonderful start and count your blessings! You will need the time to heal, rest, learn to manage what you do get to eat, sort your clothes into descending sizes, take walks, etc.
  21. Most of the doctors gather data and consider a 60% loss as success. They use the mid bmi weight of normal based on your height and subtract it from your first appointment weight.. Success is losing 60% of that. I really think this is majorly flawed. For example... I weighed in at 272 on my first appt. they say my normal bmi should be 137... They say their goal for me is 191 which is 60% so when i hit 191, i will be addedto the success data. I lost like 40 lbs before surgery and will hit goal perhaps within a few months post surgery and i will still weigh 191 OBESE at 5'6 but will be called a success on the books!!! Using a straight bmi chart is wrong, but i guess they need a place to begin. But further, at least calculate the 60% from the surgery day weight!... Which i have made my first goal... And my final goal is closer to the high end of the normal bmi range. Now to answer your real question... Many will yell at me, but after reading progress posts for months and months, it seems a good average loss for the first 6 months or so is about 8-10 per month. And of course.. Many factors impact this. Perhaps someone with some good hard data will chime in and correct me since my answer is based solely on what people are posting.
  22. I think you are on the right track.. A sweet cold protein shake, warm unjury chicken soup, g2 for the needed carbs, and one more... A protein sports drink like designer whey blitz or isopure... You might also consider just a few muscle milks for something thats milk free. All these can be in small numbers in case your tastes change or your new tummy does not like them. Variety/various options - is key.
