Phyl, you may actually not be eating enough calories. Once you get below 1000-1200 calories, you body thinks you are starving and starting hanging on to the weight. This is left over from times when there was feast and famine. try upping the calories some and see if you don't start losing. Add some veggies and fruits to balance out your diet. I was able to get a fill at 4 weeks but I was having the same hunger as you before the fill. Just added soft food today. I was on liquids for 2 days. I seem to be tolerating it well. Good luck. As far as exercise and bad knees, have you checked with the local ymca about Water aerobics. That is suppose to be good exercise for people with bad knees. Hang in there. We are here for you.

Anna, I did the same thing but not with fish. I was eating with friends and then suddenly...chest pain. Had to walk around. I think it was chicken. I just didn't concentrate on chewing and swallowed. I hope that lesson has been learned.

I am sorry I didn't get to post yesterday. I was out late and when I came home went straight to bed. Thank you all for your support and care over the death of my Daisy girl. I really miss her but have great, great memories. The really sad thing is watching my other dog, Rocky go around looking for her. I went yesterday and had my first fill under fluro. He put in just over 1 cc in a 4cc band. He said it was a little more than he usually does for a first fill but since I could eat anything... It is a little tight under fluro but liquids are going down ok. He checked with me today to make sure I was ok and told me to call next week and let him know how it is doing unless I have problems before then. If that happens I am to call immediately. I am on liquids for a couple of days and I think I will put some soup in my Magic Bullet to liquify it and have it for supper. Hope it all goes down well. My stomach is not noisy (except for right since I have been on clear liquids since yesterday and I am hungry). I get occasional hicups. It is so great to be able to read how others are coping with fills and know you are not alone. This such a great group. Lynette, yeah to Hunter! Like Kathy I thought this was a private school. I can't believe the public school system is doing this. Dini girl, welcome back. Sorry you are having such problems with baby sitters. I remember those days. How exciting that your trip to Italy is so soon. I hope you have lots of fun. My niece just flew to Italy for a semester of college. She is in Genoa. Wish y'all could meet. Indio, way to go on the exercise. I really need to step mine up. Chim, 17Lbs! That is so great. Lauren, good to know the second fill is easy. I can tell it really made a difference for you. That's so exciting. CC, good to know the band is doing its job. I've been caught to. I sure need help changing my bad eating habits. I know I have missed responding to many but I didn't take notes as usual. Hello to all.

Thanks Snag. Even though Daisy suffered while she was dying, it was quick. About 10 minutes total. I know how you feel and I am sorry for your loss, too. Linda, thanks for your kind words. Isn't it amazing, the human ability to love so many people and animals. We are so lucky although with love comes pain. ying and yang and all that. The Prophet was very profound.

Lynette, I cannot believe they are testing for pass fail for motor skills for preschool. We are getting so competitive in our society. I agree with Linda, kids develop at there own pace and those skills will come without pressure. You have done an excellent job and measuring against others at that age is crazy. If he hasn't had an opportunity to practice a skill he will not know how to do it. I am with you...cutting with scissors is not a skill I want develped early. don't fill guily. Just love him and he will learn...

Lynette, thanks for the understanding words. She was my baby girl and I keep looking for her tonight. MY heart just aches. I know it will get better but it feels like crap right now. I will post after the hopefully successful fill tomorrow. Y'all don't know of anyone who was unable to get a fill under fluro, do you? It would be just my luck.

Hi y'all. I have been out of town and know I have missed alot. If I get a chance I will go back and read messages. Let me know if there is anything I should know about. I have had the most sh*tty day today. First, I went to the doc for my first fill. He does them in the office and has never had any problems accessing a port....until today. He could not access mine. He numbed me up so it didn't hurt but he stuck and stuck and could not access it. I am a little sore tonight. He scheduled me to do it under fluro tomorrow. Then the most awful thing happend. I am so upset. The guys came today and are putting in my new flooring...Pergo. I go back to work after being a human pin cushion and get a call from the installer. My mom gets on the phone (she's 82) and tells me Daisy, my chihauhau was very sick looking and breathing funny. I talk to Ryan, the installer and he said she was lying her side. She could not walk. When she tried she was dragging her back legs. So I made arrangements to go home. I called back 2 minutes later and he said she was looking very bad and he felt she way dying. I got out to my car and call to let them know I was on my way and he said she was dead. He said she had some frothy blood around her mouth. The whole thing took like 10 minutes. Its very hot here and I had her out on the deck. I thought I had killed her with heat. I called my brother, who is a veterinarian in Greenville and told him the symptoms. He said it sounded like a pulmonary embolus, blood clot to the lungs. He said it just happens sometimes and there is nothing you can do. I asked if the heat had killed her. He reassured me that she did not overheat on my deck in the shade. He said from the symptoms of back leg paralyis and frothy bloody sputum it was classic pulmonary embolism and there was nothing even he could have done even if she had been in his office. That made me feel slightly better, at least not like a murderer. You have to understand with my kids out and on their own, Daisy was my baby. She even had her own pillow she slept on my bed. I have another dog, Rocky, a shitzu that was my daughter's and she left him here when she moved out so he would not be lonely without Daisy. He is a lot of comfort. I know this may sound ridiculous to some but my Daisy was like a member of my family. I am so depressed.

Great going on the inches lost. I have to buy a tape measure so I can do my measurements. Chim, you are doing great. Don't get down about one meal. Hang in there. Lynette, I am so proud of you...doing the exercise DVD. Making that first step is the hardest. I ate some popcorn tonight and had NO trouble. I need a fill...BAD!!!!

Hello everyone! Hope y'all are doing well today. I went back to work. What a bummer. I got so tired around 2 pm. I have gotten used to taking a nap in the afternoon and it hit me at work I agree with the cost of healthy food. No wonder everyone in the US is fat. It is cheap to eat high fat, high carb foods and so, so expensive to eat healthy. Just remember, you are eating less so the cost will balance out for you. However, my son is not eating less and it is real expensive to feed him. I am eating anything without restriction. The only thing limiting my intake is my self control and we know that isn't too good. If it was I would not have needed the band  So far it is holding out. I think I can make it a couple of weeks til I can get fill.

Hi band sister. I was banded on the 26th also. Congrats on the band and the wedding Look forward to getting to know you. this is a great group here.

I don't think that is neurotic. I am trying to eat healthier. I don't want to have to weigh and measure everything I eat forever. This band is forever. So I am making healthier choices and eating less. If you don't have healthier food in the house, you will eat junk. Go for it... Lynette, I think it is fine to drink a shake for breakfast. I will probably do that most often for protein and ease. I am not a morning person. However, I would not have shakes the rest of the day just to jump start the weight. 2 lbs in a week is great and is what we were told to expect. Eat normally and you will begin to lose again. your body is just adjusting to the weight loss. Marcy went through a couple of weeks with no loss and now she is losing again. Just hang in there. This is when it gets tough but we are here for you.

I have more than a few rolls to get rid of but is sure is great that things are looser and you don't see the rolls as much. I got my band on the 26th and I can eat anything. THe only thing that stops me is knowing I have the band and I should not eat more...not that I don't want more. I had ice cream today..the real stuff. But I was eating everything in sight wanting ice cream. I thought it better to eat it rather than over eat everything and then still eat ice cream. Lynette, how wonderful!!! This surgery was just really meant to be for you. What a relief. Lorna, I am sorry to hear of your complications but thank goodness you are doing well. Once all this passes you will be still be losing with the band. Welcome. Jackie, I am going to send you an email. I would like a copy. Thanks. congrats on the weight loss. You are doing so great. Hello, dini, jeanie, ruby, chim, marcy and everyone else I might have missed. I am you starving here. I only stop because I know the band is there. My doctor won't fill for 4 weeks so I have 2 more weeks to go. I go see him next week (3 wk post op). Maybe I can talk him into a fill then. If not, I will just suffer will all the others in bandster hell. Dini, hope everything is going ok on the homefront. Hugs and kisses to Annafrancesca.

Hi all. sorry I have been MIA. I want to know who started the computer problems virus. That is what it has to be. Lynette, I believe you were first. My cable has been out for a few days and I didn't have internet access. I have scanned the messages but cannot respond to all. Everyone seems to be doing very well. I had to stop by the doc office today cause I have a little pimple looking place at my port incision. They said is was just a stitch inside dissolving and it cause a mild inflamatory response. Made me feel a lot better. I was hungry for the first time yesterday. Tonight I was starving. Even after I ate I was not satisfied. I ate 5 sf popcicles trying to keep from eating everything else. My MD said he will not do a fill before at least 4 weeks post op. So I have at least 2 weeks to wait for a fill. I ask my MD why the liquids, mushies etc. He said that in order to reduced the risk of vomiting or heaving to remove a food, liquids then mushies. You don't want to vomit or heave early on because of the sutures in your tummy that go over the band. He had me on liquids a week, mushies a week then move to solids, adding red meats and such later and one at a time. I believe someone else's doctor had them on the same regimen. I sure can't wait until I can swim.

What a nice problem to have...nothing fits cause its too big :whoo: I haven't tried egg beaters before but I will definitely buy some when I go to the store. I see everyone keeps talking about scambled eggs. Is an omelet more difficult to eat? I thought I would try one some morning. I think I will make some vegetable soup this week so I will have it next week when I go back to work.

Be sure to let us know what you prepare for lunch tomorrow for work. I go back the week after you and I am a little nervous cause the food at work is awful. Frustrated, good to hear you are not frustrated any more Jeanie, how's it going. I went to my family reunion today. I ate several different veggie casseroles and brought some home for tonight. I didn't eat too much. Just ate slow and socialized.

Snaggletooth and only4me, I love watching the food network too. Don't forget, you have to roll it flour and fry it in butter. With Paula, you can't forget the butter.

well I just make the chicken broccoli casserole. Jeez, it made a ton. I hope there is some left over for me to freeze. This will be great for the next step in my diet. Now on to make the dessert. I must admit, I licked my fingers after I spread all that chicken and broccoli and sauce throughout the pan . Boy was it good.

Jeanie, the watermelon was wonderful. so sweet and juicy. I am doing well trying out different soft foods. He doesn't want me to add meat for another week. I have a family reunion tomorrow. :hungry: I am making broccoli chicken casserole, and this great simple cool whip dessert. You take a large package of oreos, a cup of milk and 2 8oz container of cool whip. Dip oreos in milk and layer on bottom of 9x13 casserole dish. then layer of cool whip, the oreos dipped in milk, layer of cool whip. Crush a few oreos and sprinkle over top for decoration and refrigerate overnight. The oreos soften and everyone loves. Good thing I don't like oreos Tomorrow will be a true test. But I will do well, I am determined

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Hi all. I haven't posted in a while. I went for my 1 week check up and my doc told me I could progress to soft foods for a week and the move to solids, going slowly and testing the foods to make sure I did ok. I have had egg salad, refried beans, yogurt, black bean soup, and today, watermelon. The watermelon was devine. and easy to eat. Indiogirl, I pray that your tests turn out as well as your sister's.

Hi all. I just finished eating some watermelon. Let me tell you, if you haven't tried it yet, you got to have some. So juicy and sweet. And when I chewed the juice out there was just this little tiny piece left to swallow. I figured it was on soft diet. My doc said stuff you could eat without teeth. So, so good. Lynette, how was your day at the amusement park. Did you son just love it? What were you able to eat at the park? Welcome to the new Lucky #7s. This is a great group. Hi dini girl. Hope your day is going better. Hi Jackie, Caolin, only4me, cate54, blooeyez and ssankofa73. hope you are having a great day and recovery is going well.
