  1. Hi there! First...congratulations! And...liquids in = liquids out. It's perfectly normal. Now, there comes a point where 'excessive' is no good. Stay hydrated! It's hard to get in all of your liquid. My doctor just indicated to me,"if 32 ozs was your normal pre-surgery, then start there." It really made it easier for me. It does get easier with each day to get it in. I'm only 15 days post-op and I can now get my water in. Not every single day, but 90% of the time. Hope this helps, and when in doubt, contact your doctors office to find out how much 'excessive' is. Good luck on your journey.

    Urgent care

Whew! Me too! Fyre, so glad you got SOME relief to calm your nerves a wee bit by going to the ER. And don't worry how that stinking dr feels and don't allow him/her to make you feel dumb. They don't feel dumb when they send you a 3,000 dollar bill for that visit. Ugh. You don't need a psychiatrist for THIS episode now, if you would have punched the dr in the throat, may have been a different story. Feel better soon.

    Quick question

Good to hear! If you need the Peanut Butter taste, maybe PB2 will hold you over. I love it and added it a couple of days ago and my new tummy loves it and tolerates it well. It's powdered peanut butter, I know it sounds gross, but it really is amazing. Think of 'dehydrated' peanut butter and it comes in a couple of different flavors. It costs around 4 dollars a jar. I add it to Protein shakes, greek yogurt, etc.

    Quick question

It'll take while. Peanut butter sits too heavy with me right now. I can't touch it. That thick , foamy spit...the throw up is behind it. Sorry. hope it happens soon or you at least feel better.

    Nightmare...

My thoughts are with you and your family. Sending well wishes and a positive outcome for all of you!
  6. And the other side to this coin...I had the ablation and it was the WORST thing ever. I was regular before. You could set time zones by it. Lol. The dr found a small fibroid and thought we should definitely get it out and perform an ablation. There were no problems with the fibroid, but he said most times, they get larger and can cause problems in about 15-20 years. So, he performs the ablation. I have NEVER had monthly cycles that were this heavy. EVER. I had to be put on Iron supplementation because of the loss of blood. That was 11 months ago. And this is not a rare, isolated incident. After several of us patients began talking, and exchanging information, 16 total, only 1 has seen any relief. These are with different doctors, not just 1. We continue to stay in touch to share information. So maybe in a few years, the numbers and percentages will be more accurate on the success rate with this surgery. I can say that as of now, my dr's posted numbers on the success rate, has changed to reflect a more realistic number.

    Weight and waist?

I'm only 10 days post op, I've lost 20 since day of surgery, 26 total. Today is the first day I got all my Protein in, although close on the others. I realized the majority if my calories, for now, will have to come from Protein shakes, (I'm on soft puréed) but 1/2 an egg isn't much. Lol My 26 lbs has definitely come from my thighs and some in butt and stomach. I'm not going to complain, they're the biggest areas on my. I took measurements pre op so I would know...at the times I may get discouraged, so I can just look at the numbers and compare later on, down the road. Don't be discouraged. It's coming off and that's the good news! It just takes a while for us to notice.

    Weight and waist?

What about.... Hips Butt Thighs Boobs Arms The weight comes from somewhere, not all will come from the waist. The fat is distributed all over, not just in one general location, although bigger in places. We can not "spot" reduce so doing a thousand crunches will not make the waist smaller - only when the fat comes off. You'll have strong abs!

    5 Confessions (Join In)

My confessions: (10 days post op) 1. I absolutely abhor/loathe my step-children's biological mother. She is a junkie, lying, self-centered, grown ass woman who hasn't seen her children in 6 years and lives 2.4 miles away. Maybe my lack of understanding WHY makes me feel this way and I hate watching what they go through. It really felt good to put that somewhere and this is cheaper than therapy. 2. My DH doesn't know my weight. 3. I took "before" pics and they are the first pictures I have been in, in years. 4. I like my 2 dogs more than most people. They don't judge or talk. 5. My DH was more nervous about my surgery in MX than I was. I ALLOWED him to go to put his mind at ease, not because I wanted him to. Don't judge me....I didn't want to reassure him that I was okay while he had a meltdown. Lmao 6. I love PB2. I'll be back for more....
  10. I am 10 days post op and was considered a low BMI by Dr standards, no comorbidities. I have absolutely no regrets at this point. I've lost 20 lbs in 10 days, 26 total (6 lbs preop) I feel great. Easy recovery to date. I am sure my weight loss will slow down soon, and I am ok with that. I NEVER expected it to work for me and was prepared for slow weight loss. Good luck on your journey.

    Zumba Donation?

I don't know where you live, but half price books, or maybe an equivalent in your area, sometimes has the entire set. I went in the local one yesterday and there was one on the shelf for 30 dollars. Another option, do you have any game console? I love the Zumba on kinect! I have it for Wii, also, but the kinect is much better. I have the entire DVD collection, but, that's just my 2 cents, for whatever it is worth.

    Skin

Definitely cardio and strength training are going to help with most of this. Also, a good body butter, cocoa butter TO KEEP THE SKINS ELASTICITY to help it recover and bounce back.

How long did you take off work?

I go back tomorrow. 2 weeks. BUT, Ive been bored out of my mind. Lol. But, I tend to over do things so I know I needed to take it off.
  14. I use self tanners and love them. The newer ones are not like the 80's orange ones. Lol I do go to a tanning salon and use the mystic spray tan.it stays on longer and looks very nice. I go maybe twice a month, when doing it. I haven't gone in a couple of months. The at-home versions are the l'oreal sublime bronze gel. You can see where you put it and looks very good. I love it. I just can't get to my back. The jergens for the face is great, also. Hope this helps.

    Puree diet

Salt and spices, a little mayo to give it moisture.

New sleeve but iit doesnt feel restricted

I think I must have just ate something too dry. It was miserable getting it back up. The paranoid mind is running rampant thinking "OMG...I hope I didn't spring a leak." It was very strange, to say the least.

    Shrimp

I put the shrimp and mayo or humus and blend it up. I'm 8 day out and it goes down fine.

    Feel Gross After Eating?

That stink, Becky. I know how excited you were and planning and now everything you've been through. Maybe make things with more liquid than solid? For example, a scrambled egg with a tbsp of mayo to make it creamier and not heavy? Right now, I'm on soft puréed, but mashed potatoes is heavy with me. I added more almond milk to make them more runny than solid and it was fabulous. My little 1/8th of a cup of oatmeal...had to do the same thing. Definitely liquid-like. Just maybe an option to help things get through while you are still healing.

    Sweating?

I've never been a 'sweat-er' years in the military and I got red, flushed but I have no sweat pouring off my face like others. It's weird. Have you tried the obvious: adding more Water to your day? What I have noticed, is when I do HIIT, I sweat. You may have a higher threshold, as I do. I literally went through metabolic testing to figure out what my max hr was, but still have to do High Intensity Interval Training. Which explains why I took up cycling and found my new love. I ride outside and the constant change up in the ride and geography will have you burning more calories than you ever thought.

    caffine?

I believe initially, it has to do with the diuretic effect it has. My dr doesn't have a problem with me drinking it and I have had a couple of drinks of my husbands cold coffee and have had no side effects from it. I also drink chike coffee Protein powder mixed with Water and do fine it. I am 9 days post op. I'm sure the acidic property may have something to do with it, also. I do insure I drink a little more water. Hope this helps

    Liquid diet pre op

The chocolate mixed with cold coffee and ice...kind of like a frappucino. I would brew the coffee the night before and put in the fridge. If you have any extracts, you can try altering the flavor some. I would add less than a cap full of mint to make it to taste like mint chocolate.

    Water hurts to drink

My dr indicated 1-2 ozs every 15 mins.
