Good luck!! And fasten your seatbelt :) Sometimes things, i.e. appointments, surgery, etc., can happen very quickly.

Thanks! I have a six month program ahead of me, due to insurance, but I bet it will fly by. I'm one of those lucky people whose insurance covers the surgery 100%. I'm excited.

    Non Food Rewards

I used to sew dresses & did a jumper & some shorts for myself when I was in high school. Then I got too fat for the patterns. :} I dare say you have inspired me... Glad I inspired you!
  5. I've been noticing since I've stopped eating with meals, that I'm not going as often. Is this a sign of dehydration? I'm also not urinating as much. I usually drink the bulk of my water with meals, because it's hard for me to get down water when I'm not eating. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm so constipated that I haven't gone #2 all day, which is highly unusual for me. I took Miralax, but I'm in pain from the constipation.

    Constipation?

I'm not drinking with my meals because I have been told to try to adopt the lifestyle BEFORE surgery. Also, I feel full longer if I don't drink with meals, which is really helping me not overeat.

    Constipation?

Okay, thank you. I usually don't have a problem, and usually when I do, it's not so painful. The fact that I haven't been peeing much makes me think I'm not getting enough water.

    Constipation?

I'm still way preop, so it's not from the surgery and lack of eating. I just am wondering if it could be because I'm not getting enough water.

    Science Behind High Protein Diets

My orientation class said it was because they want you to have enough protein so you aren't losing muscle instead of fat when you're losing weight. Hope this helps. =)

    My Journey Through Photos

You look amazing! It gives me such hope. I would be happy just to get down to 185. I'm at 331 right now, haven't been sleeved yet. Your photos give me hope that I'll make it.
  11. I've been keeping up with not eating with my meals, and boy, does it make a difference! I never expected it to make such a huge difference, but it really does.

  12. The heck is wrong with him?! That makes no sense. He should be happy that you're doing so well, and after 3 years? Seriously?
  13. I'm not quite 350. I'm 331, which is close. Still 6 months away from surgery. I have my first appointment in 15 days. Looking forward to getting down to my high school weight, which was 185! I'd be thrilled to see that on the scale again.
  14. I was just looking at this on the website... so helpful! I'm going to give it a try since I know cost will be an issue for me.

At my goals, I'm going to start learning to sew my own clothes since I'll be at the size where I no longer have to alter patterns to fit me. So learning a new skill to help outfit me for my new weight will be my goal. Not sleeved yet, have at least 6 months until then, but I know what I want. xD

    Baby Silverware

I need to do this! I'm still way pre-op, I just had orientation yesterday, but I think this will really help!
  17. Right now, when I get bored and have the urge to snack, I'm listening to music to stimulate my brain. It seems to be working. I'm getting paid for a painting soon, and I think I'm going to invest in some new songs for my MP3 player. I've found that I really love K-Pop, and they're great songs for working out. So that's my little tidbit for today. Try it out! It might help you when you want to eat, but don't need to.
  18. I'm really struggling today. No, I haven't been sleeved yet (that's still way in the future), but I'm trying to get my calorie intake down to 2000 so I can work my way down. I've been logging my eating into Myfitnesspal and it's already so over that I can't bring myself to log in the rest. Hopefully I'll do better tomorrow. I just am so shocked. I was trying to keep it down, but I get so hungry over the course of the day that I can't keep myself from eating, which is why I can't seem to lose any weight. I had no idea how much I was consuming. I'm sure I've had at least 2500 calories today, but I can't bring myself to type in the rest of my food and see. Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day and I'm sure I'll do better. I know where I went wrong today. Too much candy, too many processed foods, too little filling foods. I'm STILL hungry and I know I'll have to eat again because I have medications to take later that require being eaten with. SMH. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself. Getting in line is a process, it's not easy, and I shouldn't expect it to happen overnight. Hopefully preparing myself before I even see the nutritionist or doctors will set me up for success. I want to succeed, and I KNOW I can. I just have to have faith in myself and faith that God will see me through this. I know he wants me to be healthy.

    Getting My Calorie Intake Down

Thank you. =) I was bad today, and had way too much junk food. I gave in, and I shouldn't have. It's only day 4 of my trying to eat better, it was bound to happen sometime. Gonna try better next time.

    Getting My Calorie Intake Down

Thank you for advice. I will try that. I do try to get plenty of protein, but it's hard sometimes to eat healthy because I'm in so much pain that I can't cook. I do make an effort to eat as well as I can, but sometimes I just give up for a couple days because it seems too hard. But I'm trying not to do that anymore and even restart my diet the next meal instead of waiting until the next day.
  21. I'm 24 years old. I have high blood pressure, I weigh 331lbs. I have arthritis in my spine, bursitis in my hips, and nerve problems in my legs. I can barely do anything without pain. I can't get up from a chair without pain. I can't walk around the block without pain. I can't exercise enough to make a difference, so I know I need this. I am starting my journey next week with an orientation session. I considered the surgery a year ago, but decided I could do it on my own. I was wrong. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. I feel 40 years older than I am. I need help. I chose the sleeve because of the numerous medications I'm on. I couldn't take them all in a decent amount of time with the lap band or roux en y. I started cutting down my portions today so that I can get closer to the sizes I'll need to eat when I have surgery. Thankfully, my insurance covers the procedure. I called today and asked, and I'm glad I did. Hopefully this time next year, I will have had surgery and have lost quite a bit of weight. This is my year to feel better. I can feel it. I also have struggled with clinical depression, social phobia, anxiety, and other various mental issues. I'm hoping being at a healthier weight will help with this. I think part of my social phobia is that I worry about what other people think of me.
