Yeah that doesn't work for me. Unless I see it in a log it's to hard to keep track of. Even with the sleeve my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I don't pull out nearly as much as I used to before surgery, but it is usually still a bit to much.

Logging is the best way to determine if you really should be loosing weight because you will see calories in and calories burned.
Again though... we know very little about the last 16 months. Was there an initial loss, did you gain some back? What are your eating habits like now.
Unless you're willing to post a LOT more information, there's very little advice we can give you.

The more I think about this, the more it upsets me that I got called out and embarassed. I am the ONLY person that posted on this person's question that tried to help her and I am being scolded.
It may seem like I'm taking this pretty hard but I have refrained from posting after the "people are mean" posts started. I actually posted more today than I have in a long time & trying to contribute to the community. Perhaps it's just poor timing, but I'm retiring from the forums this time.

Yeah... if the next post doesn't contain substantial details I am done. I've asked questions in 3 posts now and I'm not getting anywhere.

It is nasty, and was uncalled for. I doubt you liked being judged by "skinny people" before your surgery. It's not very appropriate to turn around and behave that way to another forum member.

My name is Tom. I live in Magnolia, Texas and I grew up in Conroe, Texas my whole life. I'm 29 yrs old... turning 30 March 1st. I am married and we have a 5 yr old boy. He's in my signature picture.
I love to play internet games like League of Legends. I enjoy TV shows like Elementary, Lost Girl, Stargate series (off air now), I tend to hate reality shows but Wipeout is just to funny to not watch. I have recently picked up downloading music to my phone because it really helps me to get pumped for workouts.
Does anyone else think a VST convention would be really cool? I have a coworker who has become a close friend of mine. Him and his wife both had the same surgery I did. It's been invaluable comparing our experiences and it's great to hang out with other people whose life doesn't revolve around dinner out.

I haven't had someone directly say its the easy way out but I can look at some people's faces after I tell them and see a sense of agitation. Thats when I start thinking to myself, wait a minute, have you drank a soda in the past 6 months? or have you eaten fast food in the past 6 months? Cause I know I haven't and if that's cheating to you then go to he**!! These idiots think we can eat as we please and the pounds are going to miraculously fall off. How fortunate and nice to be born with a normal metabolism, some of the most unhealthiest people are the ones wearing skinny jeans and Under Armour but of cource to them, its about looks.

Lexsan: I hope your surgery has gone wonderfully well today! I'm sure your friend is just trying to do what she thinks is the best for you. Just lay low, do your thing, and then ask her a few months from now after you've lost a LOT of weight if she still thinks it was a horrible thing you did to yourself.
    Twoolley: you're a hoot :-)

@Lexsan These people fit into 2 categories. Either they're your skinny friend who doesn't want you to succeed or they are your fat friend who doesn't want you to become the skinny friend.
I have found in my journey that there are a lot of people hoping for you to fail. They may not say it to your face, but if you fail it validates their concern. I love my family... but I swear sometimes those negative people would have LOVED me to have complications just so they could say "I told you so".
Instead I am now below the weight I weighed when I graduated. I went clothes shopping this weekend at a normal department store and it was AWESOME!
I donated almost all my old clothes including the suit I wore on my honeymoon and I tried on my letter jacket from 11th & 12th grade last weekend and it's to big.
Oh yeah... and my wife and I are having the best sex of our lives.
To hell with your friend and all those negative people - change your voicemail message to say "If this is soandso, I have heard your argument and I don't care... leave a message - bye!"
Congrats on choosing to have the surgery & good luck tomorrow! The first few weeks are the "holy crap what have I done" weeks, but after you're healed and back on normal food it's the best feeling ever! I'm totally worked up over this now, LOL

I've never been told this by someone so I honestly can't comment on how I reacted. I have a family reunion coming up in a couple months and I expect to hear it at least once there.
However.... I've done a lot of hard things in my life. I'm a successful 29 yr old man with a family and a career. If someone wants to call what I have done the "easy way out" then by all means I took the easy road for once!
9 times out of 10 the people that have said anything negative about my weight loss surgery have been fat. They are speakout out of either jealousy or fear.
The second instance is when people say "You're not eating enough" or "You're losing weight to fast" to which I simply respond "Did you really just say that?" and look at them like they're totally stupid.

I have always been fat. Always. There were 4good years in my college days where I lost 90lbs! When I was 20 I lost 90lbs all through eating right and working out. I maintained for two years until I was legal to drink and all that went down the drain. Then when I was in grad school I used money I got from a grant to get the LapBand in Mexico. I lost 80lbs but the band failed me and I gained it all back and then some in a year. A year later I gained 110pounds! Who gains THAT much?!!!! It was so sad.
The moment I realized I wanted to lose was this past year I was pregnant and miscarried. I was so sad because I really was happy and excited and was willing to do anything for this little pea inside of me. But when I lost it I got depressed and just didn't care. My partner is such a great man he lifted me up and told me he wants to try again once we are married and I got excited to think about everything I could have in the near future. But I didn't want to be 260lbs and pregnant like I was. I did not want to gain more. I didn't want to get diabetes while pregnant or have a high risk pregnancy. I just could NOT go through one more miscarriage. So I talked to my boyfriend about the sleeve as my surgeon had recommended for me. He was the most supportive person because my boyfriend had lost his own son at 9months from a risky pregnancy he didn't want to risk any pregnancy anymore. This is our plan and I am 6 weeks out just waiting to lose 100lbs (-30down) and we are talking about a wedding, my 30th bday and a baby in a 2years and I will be healthy in all the pictures. Sometimes at night I close my eyes and picture all these moments and what they/I will look like.
So far it's been worth it but damn this biological clock is ticking. I need constant reminders of my purpose and goals.

Exactly. I have a large capacity too. I just have to be more diligent about weighing and measuring my food. There is no rule that says you should eat till you're full. Quite the opposite. My NUT told me the goal is to never be full again. Of course, it's not possible for it to NEVER happen....but to stop short of full should be the goal every time you eat. I see so many statements on this forum by people saying they just want to eat like a normal person....well normal people stop short of full most of the time. The goal should be "not hungry".

I feel like every post these days requires a follow-up post to defend the original post from someone. I'm afraid to post anything for fear that SOMEONE on either side is going to respond and I'll end up in some protracted defense.
"Anything you say can and will be used against you in a future response."
    This is getting rediculous.

I'm really dissapointed to see the way you're acting on this topic. Despite the fact that the story may be false, it's just not appropriate to repeatedly attack someone like you're doing.
To the OP: I'm very sorry to hear about your sister. This is a very dangerous surgery and it's also taken very seriously. That is why psych evaluations and nutritionist meetings are required for almost every insurance.
Thank you for outlining how important it is to research this surgery, not only to make sure it's right for you but also to know what is happening to your body. It's also very important to sit and talk to your surgeon about their procedures and ensure that testing is done prior to the surgeon sending you home. Every surgeon should do a leak test before they close up after surgery. My surgeon submerges the sleeve and checks for air leaks and there's also a swallow test and x-ray the day after surgery before I got to drink anything.
This is the very reason so many of us are so serious about this surgery. It has real consequences and not getting proper care can be devestating.
