  1. For those reading this post and freaking out because you haven't "lost all the excess weight in 6 months" like the OP suggests I would like to comment that my surgeon's weight loss window is 2 years. He does not promote a crash weight loss method that this person is suggesting. He and my NUT both feel it's an unhealthy approach to your new lifestyle. Trading one extreme not another is not a healthy lifestyle. If you are feeling depressed about your weight loss due to this post PLEASE consult your doctor or nutritionist. Becoming anorexic instead of obese is just as damaging for your organs & bone density. Many people in this situation display addictive personalities, that is why we're addicted to food. One visit to the forum on here will show you people are prone to transferring their addiction to alcohol, drugs, sex, shopping, etc. Again I say if this post is causing you anxiety or concern PLEASE contact your support group!!! Everyone is different! I am 6' 7" and the original poster, while apparently trying to be helpful, has an opinion that could damage or sabotage people's efforts because 250 calories a day with workout could cause serious problems for people like me.
  2. It is nasty, and was uncalled for. I doubt you liked being judged by "skinny people" before your surgery. It's not very appropriate to turn around and behave that way to another forum member.

    Why Oh Why?

OMG Sesame sticks from Buckees are so good. I had a bag of them in my pantry the day I had surgery so I had to send them home with my mom for my dad. That's one on the list of things I just can't ever buy.

    Soup Is Ok- Right?

I ate potatoe soup during full liquids that was pretty thick after i blended it all together. If you can get it down then I wouldn't consider it a problem. I had to add a little water to thin mine out because 2 or 3 spoons of it made me very full.

    Turkey Chili

Can this be blended up and eaten during the puree stage?
  6. You have to be careful with those healthy request, low calorie, low fat food items. Sometimes they skew one to make up for the other. I've found a lot of stuff that is low carb, but high sugar and fat. Low fat high carb & sugar, etc.. etc.. lots of games they play with that nutrition label
  7. Try: Tuna salad - Tuna, Light Mayo, boiled egg in Ninja Ricotta bake, recipe here on the forums Roast beef hash in the can - It looks like Alpo but by puree stage I would have eaten dog food to get something other than liquids. Vieanna Sausages - Also haven't eaten these since I was a kid (at this point if I'm admitting I'll eat dog food a soft sausage isn't really a stretch) Other canned meats such as chicken blended up with a little broth. Scrambled eggs I drew the line at Spam, I just can't do it. There's slime in the can....
  8. My NUT freaked out when I said I wanted to drink more than 1oz per 15 minutes. She said if I felt dehydrated I could up it to 1.5 but no more. She never justified why, just that was it. That said, I haven't had any problems with drinking when I feel I can take another drink.

    Pureed Food, What A Change!

I'm going to cut back to 2 oz because 3 was to much... but yeah, isn't that crazy?? I told my wife if everyone had a stomach like ours, there would be more than enough food in the world!
  11. I have the same thing. It started as a sharp pain but it's dulled now to an ache and it gets a little better every day.
  12. Sorry to hear you have such a unlikable surgeon. My surgeon is a great guy & really nice which makes him easy to talk to and ask questions. My only advice is that dispite his demeanor if you have questions, ask them. Don't be afraid to be abrupt to get the answers you need. And I'll be crossing my fingers that he's not a drug addict that orders 400 unnecessary tests like the one on TV does! (I hate that show btw)

    How Much?

This question gets asked and answered a LOT.

    What's Your New Addiction?

I think i'm working on that online shopping addiction too. I was shopping from my iPad from home during my week off after the surgery. Then i'm doing it at work & after work. I keep buying kitchen stuff, a bento box for my lunch, Protein powders, Vitamins, running shoes, a ninja, etc. etc. etc. I even bought something today that shapes hard boiled eggs into animals because someone posted it on here LOL It's pretty fun & my son is going to get a huge kick out of it when I put one in his lunch box!!

    Prayers Please

I can't believe your surgeon told you that. I agree with what the previous posters have said. Praying for your wellbeing in the meantime!!!
  17. I am 29, my son is 5 years old and although my wife works, they couldn't afford everything if something happened to me during surgery. Going into the surgery I had $500K in life insurance in addition to my work's coverage. I also told my wife that I wanted to be cremated if anything happened and that no matter what happens I love her and this was 100% my decision to do this so whatever happened was my own doing. It's reality and there are serious risks involved. You should be prepared for the worse. All that being said, I was sleeved on October 10th without any complications. It's the greatest thing I've ever done for myself.

Does The Hunger Go Away After Surgery....?

While my stomach is still healing I feel hungry, but it's tolerable and I know it will go away. Remember that our stomaches would hurt when we got hungry, and right now they're hurting because they're healing.
  19. I'm not a sweets kind of guy to begin with. I got to this weight because I would rather have extra fries or more mexican food than a dessert. I am drinking 2 Protein drinks a day by Pure Protein and they're so sweet I can barely take them anymore. The chocolate one was tasty for a while but now I'm choking it down to get my protein. The vanilla ones are like drinking cupcake batter & I can barely stand it. The thought of having to drink it this afternoon makes me want to puke. Does anyone out there make savory Protein Drinks? Maybe a mildly sweet berry or something with Peanut Butter? Please chime in if you've had this same issue!

    My Approval Story Bcbstx

I have BCBSTX and was also approved in only a couple of days. The only thing I am having issues with is my psycologist charged me cash and it was higher than BCBSTX negotiated with her and she's ignoring my phone calls. Also my anesthesia was filed with BCBSTX first and they rejected the claim because it was "cosmetic" and I have to call them back when the surgeon or the hospital file the claim. I guess I shouldn't have had that cosmetic anesthesiologist perform 5 grand worth of work on the day of the surgery! LOL Good luck with your surgery!

    Yay Almost :)

    Praying for a speedy approval!!

Because if she left quietly she wouldn't be getting the attention that she so desperately craves. That is the only reason to make such a post, right? I have to live by the numbers now... why? Because my surgeon does!! When I go in for my post op follow up on the 30th he's going to weigh me. Then he's going to calculate my BMI and tell me if my progress isn't good enough. If it's not he's going to cut my calories and keep me on full liquids. If it's good I get to progress to pureed foods! I for one have loved the forum and it's full of useful information. I don't expect everyone here to agree with me, because everyone has a different opinion. But to be honest I don't see the same behavior or mentality from this forum that you do.
