    nightmares?

I had a dream after surgery that I was drinking something and then I realized it was a Dr. Pepper. I freaked out then woke up feeling like I had just drank Dr. Pepper. My only nightmares after surgery have been about eating the wrong things outside my diet. Crazy.
  2. Go tell your surgeon how you "cheated" and see if the office staff flows into the room to give you hugs and words of encouragement. People typically come here to confess because they know their doctor will be furious with them. It's easy to say you cheated then cry how people were rude to you on an anonymous forum, try doing it in real life where people can really hold you accountable for your actions. We're on this forum because we're serious about changing our lives and have made a serious comittment. It's rather infuriating to see people here almost making a mockery of our struggles to stick to the plan and find real help on issues like food intolerance and social interactions. The fact that you can't follow a simple 1-week out diet and come here complaining about it in front of people that have had serious complications like Iggy is just insulting. And I told myself I wasn't going to post on these threads anymore. I really want to help others through this journey like so many here have helped me, but I feel that lately people are not doing any research, cheating constantly, then coming here to be comforted and told that blatently ignoring their surgeon's orders is okay. I signed a contract with my surgeon saying that I would follow all of the pre and post surgical guidelines. Didn't anyone else?!

8 weeks out and feeling doubt...

Don't eat until you're full. Eat until you're not hungry!! That will help because you're goal shouldn't be to feel full or stuffed after each meal. If you feel full, you've already eaten to much.

WELL...I'VE BEEN TALKED OUT OF IT...

Some things in life are worth fighting for.
  7. I saw where you asked for the thread to stop, but it's the internet. What I said needed to be said.
  8. As someone who isn't on "easy street" because I am only 10 weeks out of surgery. I must say that this is a support group, not a hugging circle. Support groups are used for difficult healing work. Sugarcoating isn't something that everyone does because everyone is different. Deal with it. I don't sugarcoat anything, neither did my doctor or my nutritionist. Could you imagine if they did how many people would come out of this surgery feeling like they had just made the worst mistake of their lives because their surgeon sugarcoated the procedure?!?!?! Then on top of it all the original poster lashes out at a veteran response because after asking a question that, honestly, has been posted here a hundred times she has "done her research" and how dare he question that! Seriously people, IF YOU KEEP ATTACKING THE HELPFUL RESPONSES OF VETERAN POSTERS THEY ARE GOING TO STOP HELPING YOU!

    wine at 6 weeks anyone?

I had half a glass of wine at dinner when we went to a Christmas party on Saturday. I'm 9 weeks out. Didn't have any problems.
  10. I'm going to take a slightly different approach and say that it IS in fact YOU that has changed. You're getting healthy and learning to live with the new you. Let's be honest, that is going to change anyone. Embrace the fact that you are different, it's not a bad thing. He may be trying to guilt you into feeling you should be ashamed of what you have accomplished. That is more about him than you. What I am hearing is that you like the person you are becoming and that is great!! You deserve a chance to allow yourself to become the person you really want to be. It's rare in life that someone can reinvent themselves at our ages and yet we're doing it. You said that you were a homebody just like he is and now you want to go out. That is a change on your part. He still wants to stay in and that's fine. But it's not what you want anymore! Accept that your personality types just don't mesh anymore. You have gone through surgery to become the person you want to be for the rest of your life. Do you really want to spend the rest of your life with someone who wishes to experience life differently than you do?

I feel like such a failure

Remember, your goal isn't to feel full. You mention Okay you ate 1 slice of pizza. But it wasn't the whole pizza and let's be honest... most of us here could order a whole pizza just for ourselves before this surgery. So your stomach isn't stretched. You said that after your 1 slice you weren't full. That's okay!! The key is were you hungry still? The goal isn't to be full after every meal... it's to not be hungry after your meal. Here's what I do. I'm 2 months out and it works well. I portion out my meal and then eat half. Sit it down and wait. If I don't feel hungry I don't finish the second half and if I am feeling hungry then I do. This largely depends on the consistency of what I am eating too. Chili vs. chicken fill me up very differently. Also if you are gaining during the first 3 months consider the type of food you are eating. Pizza isn't the best diet food.
  15. Absolutely not! Just in case you didn't get enough "No" to stop you!

WELL...I'VE BEEN TALKED OUT OF IT...

Unless your parents are blackmailing you or they are supporting you and can withdraw that support I don't see how they have their thumb pressed on you. I'm 29 years old, my parents forbid me to have the surgery. I had the surgery and they were both at the hospital. I'm an adult. What's stopping you? I suspect it's you that is backing out of the surgery not them.

He's right. Anything you say here can be used against you and his lawyer can spin it as premeditation.

    Subway, Yes Please!

That's a great idea. I also want to add that right now the cold cut combo at Subway is $2 for the 6 inch. I have them cut it in half and I get 2 lunches. I couldn't buy the lunch meat and make it at home for that price!

    Pictures!

    Looking great!
  20. If it hurts to swallow I am not leaning towards anything wrong with the stomach and more something is wrong with the lower mouth or esophagus. You were likely given a massive dose of antibiotics at the hospital and even some to take post surgery. This could lead to the depletion of healthy bacteria in your body and yeast may be overgrowing. If you have a yeast infection in your mouth (Thrush) then it could feel like strep throat or swallowing a golf ball. If you suspect that is possible you need to contact your doctor immediately because it won't get any better on it's own. Also, do NOT consume any more sugar or milk based products, it's a food source for yeast and can assist in it's growth. Check back in after you talk to your doctor and let us know how you are doing!
  21. That's the most rediculous statement I have every seen. What kind of warped sense of morality do you have? There are thousands of couples that cry and pray together every day because they can't have children and are waiting to adopt and love a child.
  22. Proudgrammy pretty much hit the nail on the head. Grazing throughout the day is not a good way to utilize the sleeve. The sleeve is useful only if you're using it to restrict the amount of food you can take in during your meals and then keeps you satiated longer. If you're "tricking" the sleeve by taking in more food only over a longer period of time then you're still getting high calories you're just eating all the time. Which is what you're noticing... you're eating constantly. My surgeon has me on a normal 3 meals a day with a snack or 2 if necessary. Snacks are yogurt, cheese stick, beef Jerky, etc. Low cal high Protein things. chocolate doesn't fit in to that category. I can't find any chocolate to eat (even sugar free) that is under 50 calories per piece. Try replacing those chocolates with sugar free mints or hard candies like Werthers. Like other posters have said, we're working to change the old habits. For me that included putting food in my mouth all day whenever I wanted. Now I eat 3 times a day like normal healthy people do, and I only eat during those times if I am hungry. I know it's probably not what you wanted to hear, but our goal is to help each other be successful losers. We've gone to an extreme length to drop the weight so sometimes a little tough love is sobering.

    Distant Husband

He's worried that you will leave him. You two really need to talk about it and the lashing out and flying off the handle at little things will resolve.

    Help! This Is Not Working.

The science is working. As long as calories in is greater than calories required to stay alive, you will lose weight. Do you use a calorie tracker such as myfitnesspal? If so, what does it say your daily caloric intake should be? How far below that are you each day?
