  1. Hi everyone, I'm actually from so-cal, but my husband is stationed here at fort lewis, so I had my sleeve done on the 26th at Madigan with Dr. Kjorstad. Surgery went pretty well, I'm just dealing with some post op nausea still. Ugh.. Anyways hope everyone is doing well!!

I just had my sleeve done at Madigan. How did you feel about your experience at Madigan?

  2. Thank u katie.brooks' date=' did u eat 3 meals a day or several small meals? Also, did u have any problems with dairy. I am counting Protein but not calories right now because l am lossing so much. Also, any idea for Phase 2 part of diet? Thanks agian :)[/quote']

Now? I eat several small meals. I can only eat about 1/4 c of food at a time usually. In between those meals is when I try to get as much Fluid in as possible. Make sure you keep up your fluids or you will get dehydrated and that is AWFUL! I don't have problems with dairy as of now. Some people do, but so far I've lucked out. Once you get to soft food it gets easier, you start to get more energy. That's what I've noticed so far (that's where I'm at now). Are your still happy about your decision?

  3. I was banded 11/2010 lost 120lbs with band' date=' but was never really happy with it. Started having pain in port area. My surgeon and I decided on revison. Already happy with it band never felt right. But, still having alot of pain/discomfort where port was removed?[/quote']

I had a conversion from band to sleeve too. I'm 3 weeks out and still have discomfort from where my port was. My surgery was 7 hours because of a few reasons 1 being that the port was SO hard for the surgeon to get out. Hang in there, it gets better, just takes time. You will hear that a lot.

  4. Taking the meds with or without food should be indicated on the label. food affects the absorption of some medicines. For some it does not matter, it all depends on the medicine. Meds that are designed to release slowly are delayed/controlled release or pills that can be taken once a day and release slowly through out the day. I did ask my surgeon if the sleeve affects the pharmacokinetics of drugs, he said no. But honestly I don't think there is any research out there to back any claims. I would be interested to see some studies on this.

I would love to see some research on this as well. Some how I don't think it will be for some time. But would be pleasantly surprised if there is some current research.

  5. I found out something interesting today when I went to see my PCP. She said that there isn't any consistencies of how any meds are absorbed with the sleeve. Because some meds are designed to be absorbed slowly or quickly. Has anyone else heard this? How do you take your meds? On an empty stomach, or with food?
