    Well, It Didn't Happen....

I have never heard of anyone having SVT. My son went into the hospital at one week old when he was unresponsive and not eating. When I went to the doctor to habe him checked they sent me straight to the hospital where I was met by the Dr. and nurse. They rushed him back to a room not letting me go on with him and said if we don't get his heart rate down we are air lifting him to the Children's Hospital. They came out later and had gotten it down by putting ice and Water in a bagfie and basically suffocating him to shaock the heart. We spent 3 days there and left with jeart medicine and a heart monitor he wore 24/7 for 9 months. I was 25 years old, my first baby and a single mommy. Scariest time of my life. Fast forward 16 years and he is a happy, healthy 6'7" wonderful young man. Good luck to you everything will turn out great.

    Surgery Today

Yay for you. I am so happy to hear you are safe and sound. Makes me feel so much better every time I read another success from Dr. Ponce. Keep us posted on your progress. You are soon to be a big time loser girl.

    Thinking Of Not Doing It,

I am at a BMI of 31.5 and making sure I don't go below before my surgery. If I go under 30.5 I know Alvarez would not have done it and Dr. Ponce won't either. I think the op needs to really make sure this is something she really needs. Like I said I have been planning and researching this for two years so I know I am ready in my mental and physical state. Good luck to all.

    Thinking Of Not Doing It,

I am pretty much the same stats as you. I am 5'3 and I weigh 178 pounds. I would like to get down to about 120-125. I have battled my weight my whole life and have done every diet under the moon including giving myself shots of Hcg. I will lose 10 pounds for a little while and gain it all back. I am getting this surgery even with only little to lose because I have high cholesterol, high blood pressure and signs of pre diabetes. The only time I have ever been a healthy weight it was because of other factors like Phen-Phen and when I got really sick and needed my gall bladder removed because it was mush and infected. I think you should get the surgery if you want but get your ducks in a row beforehand so you are really mentally prepared. I have been researching and planning this for 2 years. I am ready little to lose or not.
  5. After surgery, when will I be able to have fruit in my drink like a banana and strawberries. I am taste testing different brsnds before my date to see which one I like. I like Premiere vanilla with some strawbery, banana and Yoplait Greek yogurt. It will give me about 45 g. Protein in one drink.

    Fruit In Protein Drink.

Now after reading another thread it looks like I should only stick with 25 g. protein at one time. I really like the grek yogurt in my shake to thicken it up. Again when can we blend fruit in with it?

    Is It Bad...

I am totally planning on getting a new license when I am done losing the weight. I hate my picture.
  8. No my husband will not go with me because he does not agree with what I am doing but knows he can't tell me no. I am going with a friend. Will pm you when I have more info.
  9. Paigers- I think about it 24/7. I am obsessed with my surery. What is hard is my husband does not agree with my decision and will not even speak about it. I feel very alone but I will not change my mind. I really hop I run into you there. Talk soon and hang in there.

Hi I Am New But Not

Welcome to the WLS Club. I am scheduled with Dr. Ponce for Dec. 17th. I cannot wait. Will surely keep you posted on the experience. Just got an actual time of surgery from Trish. Around 11-12 that day I will be on my way to a new life. I feel so lucky.

    Help Needed!

Oregondaisy- what kind of protein powder are you using?
  12. December 17th with Dr. Ponce de Leon.
  13. You don't have to tell anyone. I just told my sisters and I am not telling my mom until a few days before so she doesn't worry too much. As for anyone else I am going to say I made some big changes and I don't eat carbs or sugar anymore. Neither of those are lies. It is your body and you are choosing to change and get healthy. The sleeve is only a tool to help you get there. Good luck and don't worry about the telling part. Focus on the journey ahead.
  14. I am now on the countdown- 7 weeks until surgery. I am so anxious and just want to start getting everything prepared and ready. What are some things I should be getting ready now? I have been asking the coordinator (whom I think is great) if I can get a pre and post op diet information and she keeps putting me off saying she will get it to me later. Should I be worried about this? I have a low BMI so I think I only have to pre-op diet for 3 days, but I am cutting out all alcohol, sweets and grains starting Nov. 1 (Surgery date Dec. 17 with Dr. Ponce De Leon). I cannot lose more than 6 pounds or I will be below my BMI for the surgery. Any help would be great. I think I would just feel more at ease if I could start planning now.

    7 Weeks To Skinny!

Before 50- I am 5'3 and weigh 180lbs. which is down from 200 lbs. a year ago. I made a mistake it is 8 pounds I cannot lose. At 172 it puts me right at 30.5 BMI. So I am having surgery because I am tired of being overweight for most of my adult life, feeling miserable and being unhealthy. I am on high blood pressure meds now and have high cholesteral and a high rate of heart disease deaths in my family. I hope this answers your question.

    Weight Gain Before Surgery

I have my surgery in December and I feel like I have been doing the same thing. I know I shouldn't think this way, but I feel like I will never be able to eat this stuff again so I am doing it now. I also have a low BMI and this is no excuse but if I go below 172 I will not be able to have my surgery. I plan to stop the madness starting in November and no wine either (I really like my Merlot). Hang in there it will all stop before you have surgery. Until then enjoy a little cake!

    Hello Out There! *echo*

I have my surgery date for December 17th with Dr. Ponce de Leon in TJ. I am so freaking nervous, but more than anything excited to get my life started HAPPY! Look forward to this thread growing. Chat soon fellow sleevers.
  18. I am 5'3" and weigh 178, so my BMI is in the low range. People seem to think that because I only have 50 or so pounds to lose I have no reason to be having surgery. They don't realize that I have been a lot heavier in the past but have been stuck at this 50-60 for years. I can run, run, run my little booty off and eat healthy and maybe lose 5-10 lbs. but I can never get off what I need to be healthy. I am 40 years old and sick of this battle. I have high blood pressure, high cholestrol, and heart disease runs rampid in my family. This is not an easy fix as I am finding out by reading the boards, but I don't think I can do this alone anymore and I feel that now is the time for me. What should I say to people who judge just because I don't have hundreds to lose?
  19. Thank you all for replys. I am scheduled for surgery and no it is nobody's business and don't plan on sharing how I lose weight with anyone just going to say I made some changes in my life. I have done every diet under the sun for years and even ha grandma put on WW and Nutrisystem in HS so this is a decision I am going to stick with and feel good about. Just question myself at times.
  20. I am wondering if after my surgery if I will ever be able to enjoy my 12 oz. sugar-free caramel latte w/ 1% milk again or should I get myself used to the idea of staying away from coffee and milk for good? I am okay with wheat and other carbs and even sugar, but my latte will be oh so hard!
  21. Paigers- I am getting sleeved on the 17th of December. I will be leaving as your are coming so hopefully we will cross paths so I can tell you all about the experience right before your surgery.
  22. Way to go you fabulous already. I am scheduled with Dr. Ponce de Leon in Dec. I noticed this is where you went. Please tell me everything about your experience. I am freaking out a bit. What was it like was there pain etc... What was it like to have the drain? Is there any way out of that part? Anything you can share would be great. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to follow your success!
  23. I just got my surgery date with Dr. Ponce De Leon in TJ for Dec. 17. I am really nervous about crossing the border and being safe in TJ with all of the drug issues going on. am I safe and what is it like as I have never been across a border or to Mexico. I do want to spend the next three months freaking out.

So Nervous About Crossing The Border!

Thank you for the thoughts. I am just overly nervous and want to also keep my husband and family at ease. My dad is a big news watcher and freaked out about things happening in border towns. I know I will be ok. Right!
