  1. So apparently my doc has to take a class when I was supposed to have my surgery and he neglected to tell his scheduler till last fri so I've been pushed back to oct 10
  2. Sorry accidentally sent before I finished I'm on a low carb liquid diet 70 grams of protein or more and less than 30 grams carbs I'm supposed to drink 5 Atkins shakes to hit my protein goals as they have 15 grams of protein each and between 2 to 5 grams carbs each I am also allowed sf jello and broth lately I've only been getting in 2-3 shakes a day
  3. My pre-op appointment is this morning but I've been having trouble drinking all the meal replacement shakes because I'm sleeping so much I'm constantly exhausted
  4. I just get anxious over new environments and dealing with strangers/meeting new people I don't think the hospital staff will be anything but nice but if I start crying talking to me makes me worse it's an overstimulation/anxiety thing I'm not a very confident or assertive person unless I'm in an environment where I know the social "rules" I'm always afraid I'm bothering or annoying someone
  5. I was going to tell them about my personal pharmacy I know they need to know what I'm taking also I need to take some of them while in the hospital
  6. Hi there I'm having surgery oct 1st my doc said I would have to stay in the hospital for 2-3 days. I have never stayed overnight in a hospital before except in the pediatric psych ward when I was 10 and again at 13. I have high functioning autism and anxiety should I/how do I communicate this to the staff at the hospital? My surgon never rembers and his PA doesn't believe me. my mom feels that the nurses don't need to know and I feel they should. I'm afraid I'll have a meltdown (me crying and being only minimally communicative) and freak them out. I'm 25 and I don't look or sound like I have autism. I can pass for normal because I'm highly verbal and can make eye contact. but when I become stressed my eye contact diminishes and I ramble I also sometimes speak really fast. Sorry if this is in the wrong place or doesn't make sense. Liz
  7. Yep for the last 2 years I've been having complication after complication after a while nothing solid would go through the band and I have chronic port pain
  8. Well at one point with the lapband I got down to 215 and was a size 16 pant I'm now back to 311 but my goal is 170 and size 12 pant I want to be able to to disney world an walk instead of having to rent a scooter
  9. My doc said only protein shakes adding up to 70 grams of protein and less than 30 grams of carbs for the 2 weeks prior to surgery but in my case since its a revision they wanted me on it for 3 weeks I've been on it for the last 2 weeks 2 more to go
  10. Hi I'm having a band to bypass conversion on oct 1st
  11. I'm scheduled for oct 1st band to bypass revision. I've been on a liquid diet for the last 2 weeks and will be untill 21 days after surgery. For me if I've been on a liquid diet for more than 2 weeks I stop feeling hungry much but I sleep a ton more
  12. I'm going in for a band to bypass revision on oct 1st I'm a little freaked out at how fast time seems to be going
  13. Hey have been going through the same thing my surgon originally wanted to remove the band then let the stomach heal before the bypass but I turn 26 in feb so my insurance disappears so we are aiming for a oct 1st surgery date hopefully everything will be ok
  14. hi there i moving from nyc(banded at nyu) to chevy chase MD i need to find a fill doctor the major problem is i dont drive so i need the dr to be near a metro or major bus route thanks in advance Liz
  15. i just learned that i like eggplant so im wondering what are some good band recipes for eggplant(still hate zucchini tho) thanks in advance Liz
  16. i bought a suit from hydrochic.com they had some nice ones the main reason i bought it was fo sun protection but it would work for covering what u want to i bought this one *New* Golf Swim Skirt with attached swim pants its a knee length skirt with capri length pants underneath it actualy looked ok on
  17. well i color my own hair but its purple so i dont think i can help u with brands for "normal" hair color but if u want bright purple hair i sugest manic panic ultra violet
  18. absolutly delish i added some sauteed mushrooms and 1/2 packet ranch dressing mix to the meat used 90% lean beef and real bacon(what i had on hand for the holidays) had meant to add a diced tomato or 2 but forgot will add it next time had about 320 cal a piece if cut into 8 pieces but since the only baking dish i had was square i cut it into 9 pieces i will definatly make it again(i might omit the bacon next time i tend not to eat it on my burgers anyway)
  19. im not at goal but i have lost aprox 100LBS(i have another 70 or so to go) i started my pre opdiet 12/26/08 and surgery on 1/19/09 i count from before my preopdiet
  20. im verry open about my surgery so if the people on fb dont know ists not cuse i havent mentioned it i guess im not as creative as the rest of y'all as mine is Elizabeth Cullinan (actualy i didnt know u could make up a name lol)
  21. well my celexa is about the size of a plain m&m my surgeon said this is the max size that i could take without cutting it up i take mine whole but 3 times out of 7 it gets stuck(or the liquid i take it with does) i do skip it when i know im swollen but never for more than 2 nights
  22. also it might help to go to allearsnet.com under their dining link they have menus for both table service and fast food locations but if you haven't made reservations for table services now for ur thanksgiving(this year) trip u will not be able to walk up to a table service restaurant and get seated as that week is one of the busiest of the year there i would suggest bringing some Protein shakes as a backup plan i go at least twice a year and last time i went was the first time with the band i had a fill 3 days before leaving so i sort of rushed through the liquids and that was the worst idea! i couldn't keep most things down but this was because i had not followed my surgeons instructions btw if u end up at any of the buffets go to guest services at the parks and ask for a GAC pass saying that u had bariatric surgery allowing u to only eat about a cup of food so u should only be charged the child's price good luck and have fun!
  23. my surjon recomends 1000 cal a day and 60 grams of protein i was only able to do that calorie restriction after my last fill since then i need to eat at least one protein drink a day i just dont get hungry till 5-6 hours after i get up and im not hungry for another 7-8 hours after that since i get up late i usaly only have one meal a day only about 3-4 oz of food and im full so yes i have to take suplements(protein and vitamins) i often have 2-300 cal left by the time i go to bed im just not verry hungry anymore
  24. do you know what type of protein it is i am milk sensitive and too much whey protein gives me the same problem i can do 2 shakes of whey protein but any more than that will make me sick maybe you were sensitive to the type of protein in the other powders glad u found one that you can stomach
