  1. Went to my 2 week (and 2 day) checkup today.

    Starting weight: 308.5

    Date of surgery: 286

    Leave hospital weight: 291

    Weight today: 276.5

Sooo excited...32 pounds down total, 14.5 since came home from surgery. I was a bit bummed that it wasn't more than the 14.5 pounds, but that's about a pound a day, that I've LOST!! It's an awesome feeling to realize that weight is GONE :-). All this AND I had to go to the hospital this past Monday for fluids (was dehydrated). Going back to work tomorrow and had to buy two new pair of jeans as my others are too big...got them a size smaller.

We are well on our way and we should all be proud and excited!!

Congrats to all November sleevers :-)

  2. Hi Bev' date='

What type of "binder". I'm sure that must help and I would like to have it before my surgery.

    Thanks!

    Dana[/quote']

It is a binder they gave me at the hospital. They measured me before I went back and it was on me when I woke up from surgery. It was awesome. It is velcro and cotton. Very comfortable and seemed to hold my insides in place, if that makes sense. Ask your nurse if u can get one if they don't just automatically give you. The same hospital gave me one two years ago when I had a hysterectomy...I didn't wear it then near as much as I did with this surgery.

    Good luck!

  3. This gives me so much hope! I am 5 days post op and still am feeling miserable. I'm up all hours of the night walking trying to make the gas pain stop. I also have gained 4 poundsdde1e here's to hoping day 8 is the magic day!

I am there with you. I am 4 days out and not feeling the best. Every time I take a drink of anything, it hurts...no matter if its warm or cold, a shake or Water. I'm up at night and just hoping this temporary. I am not regretting this, but it has been different than I expected. I had to stay in hospital an extra day due to not keeping anything down and being nauseous. The amount of gas I feel inside seems insane. Hoping every day will be better :-)

  4. Ok...so while I have been scheduled for my surgery for the 20th' date=' I jumped through the hoops, am well into my pre-op diet, went to all the appointments and even signed my consents for surgery...the one thing that was missing or that I was waiting on was my approval from the insurance company. With 4 days and hours left until my surgery I finally got my ding dang darn approval. Nothing like stressing me out, though I'm loathe to show that to anyone. But let me be the first to say...about damn time!!

So I'm officially approved and there is nothing...knock on wood...to delay this. Lord...watch me get hit by a car or something completely stupid. Lol.[/quote']

Glad you got your approval...that has to be a weight off your shoulders :-). Here's to Tuesday!!

  5. For those of you that are on or have been on the pre-op diet, are you/did you lose? I lost a couple of pounds the first few days and have not lost since. I'm drinking Protein and eating my one lean protein meal at night. I only cheated once and it wasn't that bad at all. I thought I would be losing more. I'm a bit discouraged and am nervous. I have surgery on the 20th. My doctor didn't say I had to lose any specified amount of weight prior to surgery, just that I had to do this diet. I'm interested in your experiences with the pre-op diet.

  6. Hello :-)

I'm on the pre-op diet and my diet is a Protein Drink for bfast & lunch, with a lean meat/veggies for dinner. I can snack on a piece of low fat cheese or light yogurt. I'm on my fourth day and I'm doing ok. Not sure if I'm just second guessing myself, but its not that bad. I've found that my Protein Drink tastes pretty good with mio in it, I tried the chocolate dream powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury in fat free milk this morning (it was yummy) and my snack has been Greek yogurt (which I don't like plain) with fat free sugar free powder pudding added. I guess I thought I'd feel miserable, but I don't. I thought the food would be horrible (I'm a very picky eater) and its not.

Has anyone else experienced this 'this isn't so bad' realization?

    I'm looking forward to the surgery...the 20th can't come soon enough :-)

P.S. I love reading everyone's stories...they are true inspirations...keep up the GREAT work!!!

  7. Thank you. It's really different when you are going through it. And I do get a regular lean Protein and veggie dinner and I'm ravenous when that time comes. I'm just desperately to chew. Ok. I have 11 days left then the last day before the surgery date I have to do only clears. That's gonna suck!!

Sounds like we are identical. As we are sleeve sisters, surgery on the 20th, we are also pre-op sisters. I have a Protein Drink for bfast and lunch, then lean meat/veggies for dinner. This is my second day and haven't cheated. I am soooo looking forward to surgery :-). I found some kook-aid like protein (0 fat 1g carbs & 27g protein). I put a little bit of black cherry mio and its quite yummy.

Good luck on the pre-op and surgery. Keep us updated how you're doing :-)

  8. Everyone fears that but it is physically impossible to not loss weight when you are taking in less than 500 calories a day for the first 2 weeks and 800 calories during week 3-8. The first week you may not see a change because you are pumped up with soooooo much fluids. I actually left the hospital 10 lb heavier and so did myhusband' date=' who just had surgery last Monday. He now down 20 lbs, 10 lbs of Water and 10 lbs of fat. You will do fine. Just don't freak out like I did when I left the hospital. I looked and felt like a giant Water ballon. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />[/quote']

Good to know this so I don't freak out :-)

  9. My biggest fear is that I won't lose any weight after the surgery. I have surgery 3 weeks from today and am scared that I'll be the ONE to not lose weight. Is this a common fear? Any advice? I see sooo many people out here that are success stories and am worried I won't be one.

  10. My surgery date is November 20 - Harrisonburg' date=' VA, and my Dr. requires 2 night stay which means I will go home on Thanksgiving morning. I have laughed at the irony of this all day. I will literally be sipping while the rest of America gorges. I think it is a perfect week to begin my new sleevie life! I also think it will give Thanksgiving a whole new meaning for me and my family! I am hoping that this time next year I will look back on the tough times and appreciate the true meaning of Thanksgiving.[/quote']

My surgery date is the 20th also. I am sooo excited. I bought some Protein last night (comparable to the IsoBlast 800) and am hoping to incorporate it into my lifestyle over the next week & a half, before my pre-op diet starts. The stuff I found is 0 fat, 1g carbs and 27g of Protein. Keep me updated on how you're doing :-)

  11. My surgery date is November 20 too. I start my pre-op diet on November 6...I have 2 weeks of the diet. I am a single mother of a 12 year old. I am very excited for this life changing event. I can't wait to go on bike rides with my son. Do you have to have the upper GI and EGD? When is yours scheduled? I'm having mine on October 30 and my nutrition/case management classes on Nov 5...30 day countdown to surgery!!!

  12. I have my surgery date. It's November 20th. I had my EGD today and everything went fine. So I just need to finish my weight management program (which I will on November 5th). Im so excited.

We are very similar in dates. I don't have my EGD until October 30, but my nutrition and case management classes are November 5. I start my pre-op diet on November 6, surgery on November 20. I'm very excited and hope the time goes quickly :-)

    Good luck!!
