Wow Mich... You were a brave soul to be a fifth patient of a surgeon. I too had extensive damage from the band, but my surgeon required 18 month healing before sleeving me. On viewing my second precautionary leak test I saw I have a perfect banana shape sleeve. I honestly believe the shape has to do with the skill of the surgeon. Just my opinion, but that's what I believe.

Why would a surgeon opt for this type of shape/stapling? Seems like it would invite issues

My drain incision was a small open hole and closed within days.. it sure never looked like that though. Keep a close eye on that..

That's an odd thing for a Bariatric surgeon to say. If you're committed to losing weight you will lose 100% of what you need to lose.. just like many here have done.

I was up and walking as soon as I woke up. I wanted to start my vacation and I didn't want to waste it lying around. I had a drain, but that's a precaution I'm glad my surgeon requires. It monitors the bleeding and also is used for the 2nd leak test which I'm also over grateful for. I don't feel a surgeon can't ever be over cautious

Because of a liver tumor I've experienced loads of barium tests. Not fun, but doable. It's not the taste of the liquid that got me it was the amount. My test requires me to drink 46 ozs so that was the toughest. Not sure what you will be required to do.

Well, I always hate to comment after Laura because she makes me feel awful for having such an easy recovery. When I woke up from surgery it was as if I hadn't had surgery at all.

Umm.. I was never told not to drink caffeine so I had my caffeinated coffee as soon as I got home. I'm from Seattle so caffeinated coffee is on the same level as air for us.

Wow.. It's hard to comment. I do agree with everyone who thinks you need to distance yourself though. A few years back I was in the same situation. The guy was 20 years younger than me. We became best friends and sooooo close. For 8+ years we were BFFs and my marriage paid a price for it. Luckily, I had an epiphany and closed that chapter of my life. As I look back I wish I never wasted my years (and part of my marriage) on the greener grass.. The thrill of the bad boy, the forbidden fruit etc..
