  1. URGH...80?? I'm not even close!! That is so disheartening:(

Please don't be disheartened. :( Like everyone says here, it is a journey, it wont happen overnight.

I know that everyday I follow the rules and do what I am supposed to do is a day closer to goal. Some people get there faster some people get there slower, but I am determined to get there (eventually).

I've lost 44lbs in 7 months (since surgery). I know people on this board with my same stats who are 20-40lbs ahead of me. Why? I don't know. I exercise. I eat what I am supposed to do. It is just my body. As long as I know that I am doing the right things I know I will get there eventually. Besides, loosing at a slower pace gives your brain a chance to keep up with the weight loss.

    I follow this blog: http://www.300poundsdown.com/

This lady is a true inspiration. She is taking a break right now but her past posts are really inspiring.

    Take care.

  2. I feel your pain.

I lost 48lbs pre-op and did not see a difference. I had to loose close to 80lbs before it was noticeable to me. Just last month (7 months out from surgery) I ditched my size 24 pants. Much to my surprise my new jeans were a size 18. You just never really know where the inches are coming off. And I agree with everyone else, your brain plays tricks on you.

  3. I saw my surgeon today because I thought maybe still do think that I'm not doing something right! HW:319 , dos:307, today 236... Well last week 225!! This is super frustrating I was sleeved 2-5-13.. I am as active I can be for now... He never gave and still hasn't specified restrictions. I can eat any and everything but I don't. I try n stay under a 1000 cals a day not over 1200.. I've done every trick in the book and have gained!!! Like wth!!!!! I am so not happy!! Then he tell me they have a damn diet program!! (Confused) I didn't let him butcher me to live life on a diet! Taking diet well as he put it appetite suppressants... Wth did I have surgery for????? Yeah I've lost weight but I lose this kinda weight with no surgery... I'm just venting y'all,, Now Back to regular programming!!!!

I get it, it can be very frustrating. I have been loosing and gaining the same 5lbs for the last two months. At one point was down to 198 then back up at 203. I lost 48lbs before the surgery, lost 37lbs after the surgery. And at my 6 month dr visit, she jumped all over me for not doing enough exercise. So I stepped up my exercise routine to two hours a day, weightlifting 3-4 times a week, walking over 5 miles a day (most of it uphill). And keeping my calories to 1200 a day. After two weeks of sticking to the schedule I did not loose a single pound. Really bummed me out. I have been losing inches. Which makes me happy. And I know some of it is muscle. Its just that dang Dr Visit that made me feel so bad. Like I've been sitting around doing nothing the last 6 months. I'm doing all I can. Aside from quitting my job and making exercise my full-time job (so not going to happen).

    Oh well, pity party over.

  4. For those stuck in a stall, just keep doing what you are doing. I finally, finally saw some scale movement. After about 6 weeks of being stuck, the scale is finally moving. I tried every trick in the book but in the end I just trusted the process. I did stop logging my food because it was just making me crazy to see how little I was eating and not getting any results. If I feel myself slipping I'll start logging my food again. Mainly I keep track of my activity with my fitbit. Trying very hard to make my 10,000 steps a day goal. Not so easy when you have a desk job. Just 1.8lbs to go before I drop below 200.

    We can do this!

    Weightloss since surgery: 39.2

    Weightloss pre-op: 48

    Total loss: 87.2

  5. In such a slow loser... it's a bit frustrating. I had surgery on 2/27 and now 5 months post-op, I started at 225 on surgery day and now stuck at 190lbs.

I'm wondering if anyone else is stuck and what do you do? I've been under a lot of stress so I guess it could be that.

I'm considering doing a couple weeks of the liquid diet. Anyone do that to help get on track?

I know what you mean. I have lost 34lbs since my surgery. (I lost 48lbs before the surgery.) I've tried every trick in the book. Decreased calories, increased calories, exercised more, exercised less, monitored everything I ate, kept my daily carbs under 50, taking in 100 ounces of Water a day (not easy). And nothing has really helped move the scale. Very hard to stay motivated at this point. I just kind of chuckle when I hear comments about surgery taking the easy way out. This is easy? I've had to work harder to loose 32lbs then the first 48lbs. I am happy, overall I've lost over 80lbs. I was just hoping to be under 200lbs at this point. Such a huge goal for me. I've also been working with my NUT and she is fine with what I have done so far.

Anyway, each person is different, so the liquid diet may or may not help. It is all an experiment. Don't give up. Keep trying.

  6. So I went to my Doctors to get an Xray of my foot, since I used to be a Xray tech I asked to view my film. I have a bone spur in my heal, no wonder it hurts to walk.

Then this Older Slender Nurse ask me why I am in here I tell her to get my foot look at and to get Doc's approval for VSG surgery. She give me this look.. Ya all know the look. Then she hits me with Well you know you can fix that. But I am not supposed to say anything but "Off the Record".. Wait for it... Remember I am in a gown and I can't leave, I am captive to hear what she says... She blurts Out "There are no FAT Pows. Really, I must have given her a look lady ya gotta be kidding me.

I almost hit the floor. Then she point to her mouth and says If ya dont put it in here, it cant come out here and she points to her bottom.

Ok, beem me up scotty before I "off the record, Kill someone!!"

I smile and walk out her Xray lab as fast as i can limp. Slowly i get release to go back to my Dr and get the referrals I need in order to check of the Pre-Op list of to do's.

Seriously, What would you have done?

Don't you wish you had a super power to change skinny people who make those kind of remarks into fat people? I have so been there. Like walk a mile in my shoes. It's not that easy, if it was wouldn't everybody be skinny?

I think the only thing I could say to her was, "Thank you, I never knew that, I wish someone would have told me."

  7. I'm mystified by the honeymoon period term. Never experienced it.

I myself never lost weight easily. I'm at the 5 month mark and lost about 33lbs. (I lost 48lbs before the surgery) And I've really had to work at those 33lbs just as hard as the 48lbs. Not complaining. Overall I am happy with my weight loss have no regrets over the surgery. My dietitian says I am on the right path. I just keep marching forward.

  8. The scale isn't the only way to measure progress.

One way: Take your measurements each month.

Another way: Use smaller sized clothing as a way to measure progress. I go into my closet pull out the next smaller size to see if I can fit them. It is a fun experiment.

Both options are great when you are at a stall because you tend to start loosing inches rather than the scale moving.

  9. The best revenge is success. But I get what you are going through. My family (Mom, Dad, and Brother) can't stand it when good things happen to me. They have sabotaged every important event in my life. So I cut them out of my life. They don't even know that I'm loosing weight. It's really sad but I've had to accept it. I have changed my life for the better I've lost many friends along the way as. Some say that people like that aren't really your friends, but one day I looked up and everyone was gone. That made me sad. So I've built a new life for myself, a nice man in my life, a daughter, and many other great things to come.

  10. I started this process in February. Everything is done. Surgery is next week. Today I was denied because my insurance doesn't cover bariatric surgery. Is there anything I can do?????

The main thing to ask your insurance company is if it has a specific exclusion in your policy that calls out WLS is not covered. If it does there isn't anything you can do. A million appeals won't work, they will not cover it. I know because my policy does not cover it no matter how sick your are. So I was self paid.
