Hey Bronx New York I Joined

Plastics on 1/8/13... Recovery is hard!

Wow! Everyone looks great & I can't wait until I can have mine done. Question, do I have to wait a year after I've hit goal to start the process of plastics? Even though my tommy would definitely need it, my arms are what's really bothering me. I also wouldn't mind the boobs lifted. Mr dr said that the surgeon he deals with ( I live in NYC) works the wording out in such a way that the insurance should cover. I would find it very difficult to self pay. Good luck to all. Looking great!!!!
  4. I was eating solids 1 week postop on orders from my dr. I clearly didn't die, but I did learn what meats I could tolerate better than others. They even cleared me to have multigrain toast. Bad choice! Came right up & haven't touched bread since. (Sleeved almost 5 months ago) 76 pounds lost so far. For some reason I can't tolerate eggs so I stay away from it. Same as you - only about 4 bites & I'm done. Good luck! Don't stress. You'll be fine....
  5. I'm almost 5 months out now & there are times when you are so caught up with whatever & so busy that when you're able to eat ( at least in my case) you start to eat like you don't have a sleeve...Boy does my "Sleevie Nicks" remind me pretty quickly......lol

Judge After You've Walked in My Shoes!

I was you! Exactly had the same relationship with food. Whenever we were going to an event, I never thought about all my friends I was going to see, I thought about what food was going to be served. Had my surgery 9/17 & down 74 pounds. I wish I did this years ago! I'm loving life & now I eat to live not the other way around. Good luck to you & I also hope you get approved quickly. We are all here for you....

    Off from work

I had 2 weeks off. I was actually sleeved on a Monday, left hospital on Wednesday. Had the rest of that week & the next off. To tell you the truth I could've went back that Monday.. I was very lucky & had no pain, just minor soreness.
  9. That's all I drink. (Sleeved 9/17). To me, for my taste buds, they are the only ones I like. Wished they had other flavors besides Chocolate, Strawberry & Vanilla...

    HEEEELLLP! Information overload. :-/

First of all - best of luck to you. Secondly, my NUT told me exactly what vitamins were needed & how much to take. That is their job, to formulate what your body needs based on the blood work that they have. Please keep us posted!

BCBS of il - covers half?

I'm really not sure. I just got a bill for $190.00 that I'm going to put towards my husbands insurance - Cigna & see what happens. If it kicks back then I'll pay it. I believe my surgery was $15,000.

BCBS of il - covers half?

I have BCBS of IL also & they covered the whole thing. Thankfully I also didn't have to wait 6 months. I got it done in 4. Because pre- sleeve I was already working with a NUT., for 2 years prior, they were able to use his notes. That saved alot of time.

    Hair Loss

Sounds like a plan! Even though I have enough hair for 10 people! I actually get it thinned out, so now it's being done for free...

Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

So sorry you're going through this. Please keep us updated & I know we all will be thinking about you on the 28th & praying you finally get an answer to what the hell is going on. Glad you stood firm & got them to do the test....
  17. So glad to hear you are doing better. Please don't stress about it. The weight will come off. It's all new to all of us & scary at times, but I focus on how good I'm feeling & looking now. (Down 72 pounds since sleeved on 9/17). There are many things that don't agree with me now. I can't tolerate eggs anymore, so after a few times throwing it up, I now stay away from it. I can't drink plain water, which I used to love, so I put a little crystal light in. I find that I'm better getting my protein shake done for breakfast because my stomachs not really ready for food in the morning but I know I have to put something in it. Also, around my period it seems that everything bothers my stomach. This too, you will learn, in time about your own sleeve & what works for you.... So glad we heard from you.....

    Sleeved on 1/14/13

Welcome & congrats! It's a bit hard in the beginning to get everything in - at least in my case, I just wasn't hungry or thirsty. Never had any pain at all. You really have to force yourself to drink. Sip, sip, sip all day so you don't dehydrate. Make sure your get your protein drinks in if you can't eat protein yet. I was so nervous about dehydrating, I made sure to drink...again, welcome!! Lots of good people & info on this site..

    Hair Loss

Sleeved 9/17 & so far no hair loss at all. That's not to say I won't wake up tomorrow & it will begin. Don't really know if there is a "safe" period where you can say - ok, don't have to worry about hair loss anymore.... I'm always on the lookout! Glad it doesn't last too long.....

    Number 2?

I'm 4 months out & use m.o.m every 3 days to keep things moving along. It's the worse feeling ever when things are backed up!!

surgery tomorrow 9 am! Jan 16.

So sorry you're in so much pain. I was sleeved in NYC where I live & they keep you in the hospital 3 days. I know they must've told you to walk, walk, walk to elevate the gas pains, so as painful as it seems try to do that. Thank God I had no pain issues at all. Only 2nd day in hosp., all I did was puke the whole entire day! The morphine pump was making me so sick so they started to crush my meds in water & that was much better. You will get better each day. Good luck to you!
