    Post Egd: Pain Under Chin?

hi, finally a question i ccan answer....lol.... i am a nurse anesthetist and the sore spot is most likely from the the anesthetist or nurse (which ever you had) helping keep your airway open. quite often with obese pts i my hands will be as sore as their chin or jaw bones will be from having to help keep the airway open. also for an EGD you probably weren't intubated unless you had some specific problem....i've sedated pts for egds for 11 yrs and only had to intubate one patient. The soreness should go away in a day or two...you might even get a bruise....but know it was for a good reason---to keep your oxygen levels up.

Well That's That! So Upset Right Now

Barrett's is usually caused by bad reflux from what I understand. It can lead to esophageal cancer if it isn't controlled.but rare....don't freak....i read somewhere just this week online that VSG plus something.....can reverse Barrett's esophagus ....sorry i can't give you better info but that suprised me wheni read it as i'm a nurse...so do your research before you go see your doc again. i will see if i can find wehre i read it too. Good luck and don't get discouraged. Sounds like if you got yearly egd/s like the earlier person said it would be ok. but i'm sure every doc is different. Take care!!

Dr. Steiner @ St. Joseph East

Will do!!! have a great week!!
  11. Hi, I'm seriously contemplating the sleeve. Not much support by family though...they're like just quit eating so much and go walk and you'll lose it.....right! like i haven't tried my whole life. My big question is does anyone regret having their sleeve done? If so, why....thanks for the info. I go for my seminar in 1 1/2 weeks.

Thank you !! Thank you!! Thank you!! I am a CRNA so hearing from an OR nurse that he is a good surgeon....well you know how that makes me feel, because i know that we only go to the ones we think are capable!! He did a friend of mine and that is why i want to go to him. She has not had any problems and is 96 pounds down since february!! I am just going to the seminar on oct 1, but i think i have done enough research that i know i what i want...the vsg...just trying to find a little more out about him....lol. i called my insurance and they require pre op medical dieting, but no specific time frame, so i've got an appt with my pcmd monday to get that started. Also, a UKMD that i know said she would let dr. steiner operate on her, though she didn't really agree with the sleeve.....she just lost a lot of weight on her own of course...lol...let's keep in touch..i am in lexington occasionally....live in somerset....good luck and hopefully there will be less of us soon!!! oh, one more question...my family is not very supportive becuase they are freaked out about me getting a leak, infection, etc.....do you know how often steiner has had a significant complication?
  13. Thank you so much for the info!! Congratulations on your loss!!! Keepup the good work!
  14. Thanks!! That makes so much more sense now. Again i really appreciate your time for answering my questions and thanks for the support. i am starting to think that i can get enough support on this forum to make up for the family support that's not there now....
  15. Wow!! How great to see such support!! Keep it up, she will never forget it!
  16. WOW, that's all i can say....no, really Congratulations!! I am so happy for you. I really appreciate you responding to me. I think i understand all of the changes i will have to make and am up for them i believe. Just wish my family would me a little more supportive. only one more question for you. What does everyone mean by foods they can't eat? Like, make them sick or what?
  17. Thanks for responding....congratulations on your journey!! maybe soon i can say the same!
  18. Congratulations!!!! Thank you for replying. Our numbers look almost exactly the same! Well your starting numbers look like me now....can't imagine being 40-50 pounds down in 6 months....i think i would cry every day!!! keep up the good work!!
  19. Congratulations and good luck on your journey!! Exactly, I need a push....that's a good way to explain it....thanks for responding and keep up the good work!!
  20. thanks so much for the info!!!
  21. Congratuations!!!! I am so happy that you're telling me of your situation. It makes me feel so much better about the surgery. Keep up the good work and yeah i can't imagine what it would feel like to be full without a ton of food! I'm really getting excited! Thanks again!
  22. Thanks for letting me know i'm not the only one with an obtuse family...lol...seriously, i think you are right with the sleeve instead of the bypass as far as i can tell from my research also. Keep in touch, sounds like we'll have a close situation!
