  1. You look great! Congratulations!! Did you have the kind of tummy tuck where they tighten up the muscles as well? I've heard that is extremely painful. And you had two? I'm not sure I'm ready for more surgery - but of course, being only 9 weeks out, I'm far from ready for it yet. Thank you for sharing!
  2. Yep - I take normal bites - 2 months out - but when I take smaller bites, my food lasts longer!

    Loosing my job...

I'm so sorry to hear that. That is a drastic cut!
  4. I was able to swallow my pills (with the surgeon's approval) by day 4 post-op. I have had no problem with them at all. My vitamins, though, are all chewable or sublingual - mostly because I don't like taking giant pills and vitamins tend to be huge. I also love the taste of my chewable vitamins.

    Birth Control

Did your surgeon tell you how long you have to be off them? I would discuss with the surgeon and your OBGYN.

    Getting closer?

Just keep on top of the doctor's office. Had I left it in their hands, I would have had to post-pone my surgery. I also contacted the insurance company directly to make sure they had everything.

    Chilli, what kind?

I found the Wendy's chili to be too hot and thin. However, I had the Applebee's chili and LOVE it! I eat 1/3 of it for a meal, rest in the fridge for the next day. They have curbside pickup so I order it on the way home from work and pick it up 5 minutes later.

    Very low :(

I was achy, but more so, I was tired, tired, tired!!! I'm 8 weeks out and feeling much better!! I was surprised by how fatigued I was and for how long it lasted.

    Nightmares

Anesthesia and pain meds can cause nightmares.
  12. Congratulations - you already look amazing. I have heard, though, that this is an incredibly painful surgery. I'm so glad to hear you're handling it well! Congratulations on 177 pounds down!! Truly inspirational!

For those of you giving up the scale - I cannot wait to hear how exciting it is going to be when you get back on - it will be such a reward to see the drop in weight!

    New

Welcome Denisse, Congratulations on 25 pounds! Every pound lost is a step towards a healthier you!
  15. flmama - that is a horrible experience, but I LOVE that you found something positive to take away! If he thought you were 22 before the surgery, you are going to look like 12 after the surgery! I'm so glad they straightened it out!

    Medical Alert Bracelets

I have a really nice medical alert pendant that I wear on a long chain inside my clothing. It is for diabetes and I hope to not need it anymore at some point! It looks like jewelry, but I do believe it would be noticed by medical personnel. The website is www.StickyJ.com. I will talk to my MD about whether I need one for the sleeve.
  17. Great idea - what's the name of the website?

Milk Duds got the better of me!

The only thing that has ever worked for me is staying away from the things that are yummiest to me. One bite and it's like falling dominos. I'm just working on focusing on the Protein and volume and figuring the foods that brought me to diabetes and surgery should probably stay out of my new stomach. Having said that, prior to surgery I deliberately ate every food I figured I'd miss after surgery - not in huge amounts, just getting in the tastes. I think that worked well for me because the surgery is serious, and the first 6 weeks are focused on not injuring your stomach. So, now, in the 7th week, I don't feel the desire for those foods, and really don't think they're worth it at all. That's my experience so far...

    Question about tummy bugs

I have no idea - haven't experienced that yet!

    Insensitivity

Punkin, I think speaking 1:1 with the boss might be more profitable than threatening to hire a lawyer - they are pretty expensive. The first thing a lawyer would ask you is what steps you took to rectify the situation. Speaking to him professionally, then a letter sent certified mail, etc. Hopefully you wouldn't need more than the discussion. Small offices are tough. I work in department of 18, in a hospital of 8000. The 8000 don't care and the 18 don't know yet as I told no-one before hand. I do wish you the best!
  22. My doc does a leak test in the Operating room before closing, and then the leak test the following day as well. I was hungry until I went on soft solids - the liquids just go right through so you're not really "full".

    Dumping syndrome pre surgery

No - still have my gallbladder (so far!). Yes - the immodium worked both pre- and post-surgery!
