  1. I had my surgery on Sept 19 and I lost good the first 2 weeks (19 lbs) and then nothing for the next 2 weeks. I called my doctor very frustrated as well and he assured me that it was normal...he said my body was in shock and to try milk of magnesia as Constipation might be the issue. I have lost 10 more lbs...you might try it.

Same here lost 16.5 in first week then

    Week 3- nothing

    Week 4- 1.5

    Week 5- 1

Next week ill be able to hit the gym instead of just walking hoping that will help! Day of surgery I was 283 just thought being heavier would equal faster weight loss at first. Guess that's not always the case. But I am ok losing at a steady pace to avoid more sagging skin. Already have some do to my years of yo to dieting. Thanks for the support girls!

  2. Why is it that the bad food goes down so easy? I just ate an ice cream sandwich with no problem. I've been so hungry the last few days' date=' I guess it has to do with me being sick.

I washed my hair this morning and it was coming out by the handful ?de1fI went and bought that fall fight Shampoo, I hope it helps!

Luckily haven't noticed Hair loss yet but I'm trying to mentally prepare myself. I've heard of that shampoo. Where do u get it?

  4. Today is my 4 week surgiversary. Surgery day weight was 283 and today I'm 265 so 18 lbs gone. Started out in sz 24 jeans today I'm comfortably in sz 22. Starting regular foods today, kinda scared! So excited to get caffeine back today. Had my first cup of coffee and it tasted amazing. Luckily I feel really good these days. My energy is back, I've got my meal sizes under control, know what foods work and ones that don't (chicken breast). Really looking to the future and have hope that this time ill lose my excess weight for good.

To all who are doing well keep up the good work and to those with complications I hope things get better soon.

  5. I am also having hard time getting my fluids in these past few days. Can only eat 1-2 bites of any food I have tried. Just ate 3 bites of chicken breast and chewed it like crazy.....super miserable right now. And I am still burping like a frat boy at a keg party! Three weeks and 2 days post-op and have lost 11 lbs since surgery. I hope this eating thing gets better cause I am miserable' date=' my program doesn't want us to drink any Protein shakes at this stage....they want us to eat 3 times a day soft Protein foods. I am only able to eat 1-2 times a day. I am sure if I could up my calorie intake I would feel better and lose more weight. Figured I am averaging about 300 cal/day.

Hope all our you are doing well. Hope the ones waiting for their disability money to come through get good news quickly![/quote']

300?? Way too few cals! What did they say when u told them that? I would think they would make am exception on the shakes until u can physically eat more. I'm averaging about 800 cals a day and have noticed a huge spike in my energy levels. Take care of yourself! As we learned from another sleeve sister here the doctors aren't always right!

  6. Update on my story.. I was doing really well up until friday night.. Started feeling very weak.. Started with diarrhea Saturday continued until Sunday which by then I ended up in hospital... I was dehydrated' date=' potassium and magnesium levels low, low BP, a lot of acid, burning sensation and pain... Been in hospital since then... Drs were concerned bc i lost 30lbs in 10 days.. is this normal? Going home today and need advice.. How does everyone keep hydrated. My surgery was in Mexico so I was wondering What Vitamins are suppose to be taken? Feeling a bit discouraged but not giving up.. Any advice? Thank u in advance

Hey im also a Mexico surgery. Sounds like ya lost a serious amount of Water weight there. Ask your general doctor to follow your lab work that's what I did. That's how I found out I was a little anemic. My daily supplements are: Gummy Multivitamins, Calcium chew, chewable Iron with vit C, sublingual B12, hair/skin/nails Vitamins, and pepcid complete chewables.< /p>

  7. Anyone else having issues with slumping? Like I have to have good posture almost all the time or it hurts? Because if I slump it feels like it smushes my sleeve and it feels sore after a minute.

    I know it's weird' date=' I was just wondering.[/quote']

I'm the opposite if I stretch out like lay flat in bed or sit straight up Im uncomfortable. Feels like I'm pulling my sleeve especially after eating.

Well today started week 4 so this morning was my 3 week weigh in and.... I gained 0.2 lbs! Was really hoping to not run into the dreaded 3rd week stall but with 15 lbs in the first 2 weeks I'm still happy. Anyone else stall?

  8. Soo... I had my surgery the 7 th' date=' I'm almost 3 weeks out.... I'm getting all my Protein, my stuck feeling is almost resolved but I've been at a stall for almost a week now. I lost 25 lbs the first two weeks and now the scale won't move :( I'm getting so sad. I feel like with the next to nothing I'm eating, miles I'm walking, toddlers I'm chasing it should be pouringgggggg off me!!!!!!![/quote']

From what I've read week 3 and week 4 stalls are normal. Did you take your measurements? Most still lose inches on week 3/4 even tho the scale stalls.

  9. Hi everyone! Just wanted to post some VGS in Mexico support/advice. I had my sleeve surgery Sept 17th in Tijuana at Hospital Angeles with Dr Corvala. My experience was fantastic honestly! I swear the hospital was way cleaner than any US hospital I've ever been too. The nursing staff was great. My call light was always answered right away. Some of my nurses spoke very little English so if u don't speak Spanish I recommend learning the basics ( bathroom, nausea, pain, thrist) just in case. Doctors were so attentive my surgeon, cardiologist, and general MD saw me daily. Pain was minimual and my incisions look good. Remember Mexico hospitals want you have a good experience and they work harder to ensure your happy because they depend on your good review for business. Anyways there are my 2 cents. Good luck to u all!

  10. Wow I really need to check in more than every 2-3 days cuz there is so much going on! Ok so update for me. My husband and I finally got back home on Mon (yes my surgery was in Mexico) I'm day 10 and down 13 lbs from day of surgery. I advanced to full liquids this week. Enjoying my nectar proteins- have chocolate truffle and vanilla bean torte. Cream of wheat isn't as bad as I thought I would be and loving the creamy Soups. Still having nausea occasional mostly first thing in the mornings.

Head hunger is getting better thankfully! How's everyone else doing with that?

  11. Starting to really miss eating food.....had my sleeve 9/18. It is good to read these posts, as I don't feel so abnormal now. Really getting sick of all the Water I have to drink. Damn food commercials on tv don't help. Plus I cooked for my significant other today....had to keep my mouth closed. At least someone in our house had a great meal today.

I'm there with you on the food commerials. Between Olive Garden's endless Pasta and Red Lobster's endless shrimp commericals I just had to turn the tv off!

  12. Hello fellow september sleeves! I had my surgery September 17th and I'm getting discharged from the hospital today- day 5 (Yah!) Really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. I was allowed to start my Clear Liquids on day 3 post barium swallow (OMG was that a disgusting cocktail) 3 times a day I get apple juice, hot herbal tea and Jello. So ready for some clear liquid variety. For some reason my sleeve rejected the jello (had that lovely thing called sliming- burped up the slimy frothy stuff) Haven't really had much pain past day 2 although the larger incision is still sore. Other incisions are starting to itch. Burping alot! Although to me it feels like hiccups. Getting full really fast 4-6oz then im done for about 2 hours. Have noticed my emotions are a little out of wack tho. Yesterday my IV blew and caused a lot of swelling in my hand and even though I was a trooper regarding the abdominal pain my hand made me whiny and cranky. So weird, My starting weight was 283 on day of op and they haven't weighed me again yet. Which is kinda nice because i'm not stressing out about how much I have lost. Really liked reading everyones surgery experiences! It's comforting to know i'm not in this alone.
