My kids picked up the stomach flu. Starting on Wednesday night with one, then Thursday morning with the other..then late Thursday - Friday morning for the hubby. Thought I was free and clear. Yeah, not so much. By 5 pm Friday I was in bed and then violent vomiting and diahrrea all night. Felt a bit better, but weak, today. Decided to take a shower in the afternoon...bad idea. Good thing the hubby was home, cause I passed out. Could feel it coming on and yelled for him and he got me out and to the toilet before it all went dark. I was worried about getting sick -- with the tiny tum. Uber dehydrated, which would explain the syncope in the shower. Trying to drink, but I still feel icky. Hard to do so when you keep throwing up. But hopefully the violent stuff is past and I can get in some fluids. Probably should have gone to the hospital for intravenous Fluid, but who wants to sit in the ER with other sickies for hours on end? Not me. Still feeling weak. Going to rest and drink. Just want to sleep. -

I'm so sorry you guys were sick. Sleeved and sick is hard. I did manage to eat some of everything. Turkey is hard to down. But I chewed and chewed and down it went. Couple bites of other stuff. Worked my butt off to cook it all and couldn't eat much of it. Kind of sucked, but pleased to see everyone else inhaling food. Speaking of inhaling, have any of you noticed that you burp way more than you used to? I swear I burp like a drunken sailor! No matter what I eat, or how much, up come the burps. I swear it's from chewing so much more which I think introduces way more air. And it's like I have to burp for the food to move down the sleeve. And then make room for more. Anyone else notice this burping thing? -

I don't get much fruit either. Obviously not much of anything recently. I do like to put pineapple on cottage cheese. I did eat a dried prune today. Weird. I did have a turkey and cheese sandwich on 1 slice of toasted 100% whole wheat bread the other day. Veggies?? Not much. I am planning on a few bites of green bean casserole tomorrow...does that count? Oh and sweet potato, well a couple bites of that too. Those are veggies. But in general, not as much as I'd like. -

I'm 2 months and 10 days post surgery and I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the following: It seems like now I can eat waaaay less than I could a month ago. I mean a couple bites and I'm done. But it's not everything. Like I can eat a 5oz greek yogurt, well not fast, takes me a while but I can eat it. But as for what I would call "regular" food, not even that much is possible. I feel like I could eat so much more a month ago and now I'm back to not being able to eat much at all. Suggestions? -

So sorry you're sick. Totally must be going around. I blame the schools. I went to pick up my child the other day, it's cold outside, but not freezing, and inside the school it was like they had cranked the heat up to 100. My child was all red-faced and so hot, just like every other kid I saw there that day. Hello people, yucky things just breed in that kind of heat!! Turn it down. That said, I'm also curious what your bariatric folks will say to eat in lieu of "white" stuff. You feel better too. Get some fluid in anyway, whether you want to or not. Dehydration is not your friend. -

Fever? yes, off and on for a few days....between 99.3 and 99.8 Which for me IS a fever since I usually run about 97.6 normally. I do feel a bit better today. Went to bed, slept like the dead. No strange pains today. But I haven't eaten anything yet. Maybe I was just stressing out. Stuff to do, to do, to do!! -

Has anyone had any times where you just felt "off"? I only ask because I remember my doc and nurse telling me to get to the er if you ever did. And I feel off but I'm wondering if it's just something coming on (tis the season for illnesses). I haven't really been able to eat yesterday, or today. I couldn't get much in me yesterday (but I felt fine). Today I feel like garbage and had a protein shake that went down fine, but I'm trying to eat dinner and it's torture. And strange pains...I think I should call it a day and just go to bed. -

THANKSGIVING!!! I am actually excited about it. I love to cook for my family. Especially holiday meals. They seem to enjoy it more...no freaking complaining. But so not even worried about eating too much. I know that if I do, I will VOMIT. So, turkey first, and a little bite of this and a little bite of that. I may even have some pecan pie. Well, a bite or two. The tiny tum WILL NOT allow me to over indulge. Okay, I could just drink milk shakes all the time. But I don't, and I won't. I want to eat real food and so I do. Just cannot eat much of it. Oh yeah!! Looking forward to the holidays....really!!! I can focus on stuff other than food, so excited! -

@Newgrandmother...me to same phase. Worried. But I guess it is what it is. I'll keep doing what I'm doing. I'll make good choices. I'll up my exercise. And I'll work on getting in my Water. Since the weather has changed, it's alot harder to get it in. Also trying not to obsess. Maybe I'll just start acting like a thin person (or how I think one would act) and have more energy all day long and then sleep like the dead. Think I need to up my Protein. Haven't been getting in as much. -

I read everyone's posts. Inspiring to know I'm not the only one having days of freaking out or days of woohoo for me!! Mommeof3: suggestion, slow down on the exercise. Don't stop, but slow down. I have a sneaking suspicion that your body is wondering what the hell you're trying to do to it. Let me explain...you were sleeved, so you're not getting near the amount of food that it's used to. Then on top of that you are exercising...a lot it sounds like. I think your body may be the preverbial kid with its arms and legs wide and planted that will not budge from where it is. Step back slightly on the exercise and see what happens. I used to exercise and exercise and never lost a freaking pound. But when I slowed it down, the pounds would start to go. Just a suggestion. -

Having one of "those" days. Days when I think my stomach may be normal and I broke it (although the amount of food is still the same). Just thought that I would be losing a little faster than I am. Not that I'm totally complaining. Just worried that those few pounds might just be it. Could be the TOM talking. But like I said, it's one of those days. -

Way to go SUEPEEPS!!! How brave you are to take photos! I won't even do that. But I do see/check my side view in the mirror. Mirror is bigger now. And there is a good 10 inches around me gone. Good mirror! I would say that we're all coming along. I haven't had to puke in a couple of weeks due to one or two bites too many. Family wanted pizza last night. Ordered thin crust for all. Was so starving! Took two small bites then two bites of just topping and I was full....so pissed! I was so hungry and then couldn't hardly eat any of it (but not hungry after a few bites). I know it's a good thing. Just that brain thing again we've all been experiencing. Just have to learn what the new normal is. Kind of funny actually. What am I thinking that I could eat a whole piece of pizza, much less two...even if it was thin crust? I am obviously out of my mind...you feel normal and forget that you have a tiny tum. Well, that said, you don't forget for long. Thank you tiny tum. -

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!!! Sounds like you're hitting your stride so to speak and know what you need to do to keep losing. Same here, now just gotta get walking. Like momto3 said, life, work, kids, etc. getting in the way. I need to get in my own way and focus on me for a change. At least a little each day. HAIR LOSS? I noticed some less than a month out, but then it sort of leveled off. I'm not quite 2 months out yet. And actually it seems thicker almost now. Well maybe not thicker, but just more of it. Weird. -

Okay GETTING THERE, here you go: 1 cup chopped onion ( I just chopped two smaller onions) 4 stalks celery, chopped 3 carrots, diced (I added an extra one...generally it's 2) 1/2 cup butter 3 Tbs. all-purpose flour 1 Tbs curry powder, reg 1 Tbs red curry powder 8 cups chicken broth 2 apples, peeled, cored & chopped 1 cup brown rice (cooked separately in more chicken broth) 3 skinless, boneless chicken breasts Salt and pepper 2 pinches (about 1 tsp.) thyme 1 cup heavy cream, heated Saute onions, celery, carrots & butter in large soup pot. Add flour & curries and cook for 5 minutes, adding chicken stock slowly to make sure there are no lumps. Add salt and pepper to your taste (I used about 1 tsp. salt and maybe 1/2 tsp. of pepper). Add in chicken breasts and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Meanwhile, cook brown rice according to directions on your package. Chop apples. Remove chicken. Add apples, and shred chicken and add back to the pot. Add cooked brown rice. Add cream when serving. This makes a BIG pot. You can easily halve the recipe. I'm kind of a non-measuring type of cook, although I did measure the curries. Now, you don't have to use red curry at all. You can just use the regular kind. The red is just a bit more spicey, but it's really good. And since this vsg, I find I need more flavor in my food. It's so weird. I also made a big pot, cause I honestly don't want to have to cook every stinking night. I love left overs. And soups and stews just get better as the days go by. My family will be having crusty bread with this. I probably will have a bite of the bread. But that's all. Tiny tum can only hold so much. Enjoy!!! -

I need to get back on the exercise bandwagon. I'm finally feeling better. Better in that I'm not as tired...so I'm cooking again. Right now some Mulligatawny Stew is stewing in my kitchen. Calls for white rice....yeah, I don't think so...got some brown rice. Thought about quinoa when I got home from the store. Next time. Man it smells good with the curries in it. It's just filling the house with yumminess. -

Kparker: I was hungry all the time too there for a while....like a couple of weeks. And now it has somewhat subsided. I do try to drink at leat 10 oz of water before I eat breakfast...but that is just my way of getting in my water. npm518: I was throwing up for quite a while as I got used to my new tiny tum. I still do on occasion. I have found that eating uber slow helps. Obviously chewing well, is a no-brainer. But the slow eating and waiting just to make sure there's room for the next bite helps. I'm not perfect at this yet. Sometimes I think there's room for another bite and so I eat it and start running for the bathroom. And once I start to vomit, there's no stopping it. It seems like now I can vomit super easy. Almost if I think about it, the food comes up. Okay, probably not quite that easy, but I used to be able to fight vomiting. No longer. I sometimes feel like I'm bulemic!! I'm not. But it's kind of funny. Eating slowly does help. And it's really a learning curve to know how much your stomach is going to hold. We all dont' have the same size. Different surgeons each do it their own way. Trial and error. Hang in there! -

I had a piece of candy tonight too. But only one and didn't even want more. Dude, what is up with that? I have sat here and eaten 10 or more pieces of candy. I don't even want it. I'm not even sure it tastes the same anymore. And if I eat one more cheez-it....I'm gonna scream! They don't taste good either. I love them...or I did. I want a salad from Panera. Scared about that. Love Panera salads...what if I hate it now? This is really freaking me out. Stuff I like, I can't stand anymore. The only thing that tastes really good is my greek yogurt with fruit in it. (pre-fruited mind you). Plain greek yogurt makes me hurl. Going on a date this Friday night with my hubby and I'm worried I won't even like steak anymore (just gonna have him order his and eat some of it. And maybe some sweet potato. I'm a cheap date now. Wiggin' out here. All I want to do is drink. And by drink, I mean like water and light juices, etc. Egg nog is really good. The chocolate milk I had was not that great. This is so bizarre. -

newgrand....yeah, having the same thing... hunger not as much. In fact so not as much that I totally forget to eat lunch quite often. I think this week I'm going to make some pulled pork for BBQ sandwiches, and some mulagatawny stew/soup. The leaves are turning, the air is crisp and it is time to pull out the crock pot! -

Aw honey, don't feel bad. I've been cleared to eat whatever for a few weeks now. So on Saturday night my husband made his famous Blueberry Ricotta Cheese pancakes, with a side of bacon. Bacon down, check....Blueberry ricotta cheese pancake...down....uh oh...ran to the bathroom and puked the whole pancake back up. Looked like batter. I was so pissed. Pardon the language. But let's face it for pancakes, they are full of protein and good blueberries. Yes, it's my new diet plan, EAT, PUKE, LOSE WEIGHT!!! But seriously, don't worry. It will all come with time. Relax. Eat what you want, just a tiny bit of it. And maybe hold off on a Blueberry ricotta cheese pancake. Sigh.
