  1. I have not been here in quite a while, and I have been having some struggles with my weight lately, so I figured I could get some support here!

Barb, I was originally going for 156, but now I would be happy with 165 pounds I think. The lowest I got was 172 pounds, but it did not last but a day or two! The lowest I had got that actually lasted a bit was 175. However to do that I was all my feet all day and doing a lot of walking, bending, going up and down step ladders at that job I had in Family Dollar. That job was just to hard on me physically though at my age of almost 58 years old with the problems I have with my body from Celiac and Fibromyelgia. I have been getting out and walking a lot lately, and I walk between 3.5 to 4.20 miles at a time with our dogs, and I have improved on my time, and can do it in less time than I was doing, so that's good. My weight however seems to be STUCK at 192 pounds! I'm at least down 2 pounds though since was 194, but I just want to be back where I was like yesterday! LOL It was so much easier for the weight to fall off that first year after surgery! I wish it would still come off that easy! :( My Gastric doctor, and his staff all think I have done a great job, but I'm not happy with myself lately. I know I'm doing what I am suppose to do, but my stupid body will not do what it's supposed to do!

      Hi Barb,

Well it's kind of a long story, but to try to make a long story short, I have had a lot of changes in my life the past 8 months. I was working a "part time" job that ended up being more of a full time job at a local Family Dollar. I was working for minimum wage, and working my butt off. It was a very physical job which was a good thing as far as my weight was concerned, because I lost like 15# after working there for about 3 months. Bad thing was I had no life! I had to work every weekend, all weekend, and only had one weekend off a month, and I also had to work every Holiday too. The weekends, and Holidays are the only times I get to see our kids and grandkids because they all live out of town. Physically it was about killing me, because it required a lot of heavy lifting, and opening boxes a lot. I'm no spring chicken anymore, and I have Fibromyalgia, and arthritis in my hands and hips, and knees. I tried so hard to stick with it, but after 5 months I had to give a 2 week notice, because I just could not do it anymore! I then decided to do Online College classes in Allied Health and Health Science and get an Associates degree, because I always wanted to work with animals in a vets office as a vet's assistant. I worked my butt off, and in my first 3 classes I got all A's which was NOT easy since I had not been in school for over 35 years! It stressed me out so bad the 3 months I was taking college classes, and I was not getting in my exercise due to spending most of my day working on my assignments, and it was now winter here in Michigan, so I could not get my walks and bike rides in. SO, after quitting Family Dollar, and starting college I started to see my weight going back up! I ended up getting CUT from my college classes, because the college claimed they could not get proof that I had graduated from an accredited high school. So after working my butt off for 3 months it was all for NOTHING! They took away from grades, and my 12 credits I should have gotten! I was so upset, stressed and depressed, and I was eating some things I know I should not be, and not exercising like I was, so I put back on 15#'s. I'm so mad at myself, and disappointed with myself at the same time. That was in January my college dumped me. However since January I started exercising again 4-5 days a week by riding my bike indoors on a bike trainer thing my hubby got me. I ride 50-60 minutes a time and go over 20 miles. I started watching more what I eat, but that darn scale will hardly budge! I have lost a pound or two recently, but I feel so discouraged! I have even started walking our dogs on the nice days that I can get outside on 4 mile walks, and I do it in 1 hour and 15 minutes. I feel like I'm trying so hard to get back down, and I wonder if I will ever hit my GOAL WEIGHT! Sorry this was so long, but I could not explain it all in any shorter of a story.

  4. I have a job now for the first time in 17 years! I'm a part time custodian at a local grade school. I could have never done this 1 1/2 years ago before my WLS ! Thankful for my sleeve!

Thanks you guys. Yes, and I love kids, and have grandkids the ages of the kids I'll be working around. Most times kids won't be around when I'm there cause I clean evenings, but on special events I'll be around them. :) It feels great to be a part of something again instead of sitting home in my recliner feeling depressed, and worthless like I use to before my weight loss. :)
