My boyfriend didn't stay overnight but because I had a private room they let him stay past visiting hours. I was in hospital for 4 days, the first day I needed help getting to the toilet by myself but from the second day I was showering myself ect. I didn't mind asking the nurses for help they were really nice and it's what they are there for!

I love looking through all these photos!! Here are mine

I had my drain for the duration of my hospital stay which was 4 days 3 nights. I couldn't feel it when it was in, well you sort of can when you walk around but it was no biggie. I was really nervous to get mine out just because it freaks me out. Anyway my nurse was so good, I had my eyes closed when she took it out and a few mins later she was like why are you still closing your eyes? I took it out 5 mins ago!! I couldn't believe it I was like, but I didn't feel a thing!! The nurse was laughing so much because I had worked myself up and got nervous for nothing, coz in the end I didn't even feel it haha

Swallowing pills post op
bethxxx replied to cmathews77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been taking tablets since a week post op. I've had some troubles i.e vomiting after multi vitamin even when taking it with food but since changing brands it seems to be better. Listen to what your doctor says but maybe you could ask him if they are ok to take? I only did liquid tablets for one week as I said and I've been fine -
I had insurance for mine but my doctor charges $15,000 if you aren't covered

I was a coke zero addict before surgery, I would have one or two 2 litre bottles a day. And I didn't give it up until the day before surgery. But strangely after surgery I don't miss it that much. I have had a sip post op and it made me so uncomfortable, like I could feel every bubble in my stomach. It was kind of painful. Anyway I'm 5 months out now and I told myself I would try drinking some again at a year out.

Congratulations! What happens in the evaluation?

The "Pre-Surgery" Talk/Advice
bethxxx replied to OldskoolHeart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dealt with this mostly from my boyfriends mum. She told me everything she had heard about how it could go wrong, how I would be sick for months, how uncomfortable my life would be. You just have to thank them for their concern (remember they only care about you) but let them know, with confidence, that this is your decision and you are happy with it. I know in my experience she still didn't agree with it and even now seeing the result she still purses her lips and clicks her tongue but who cares! I'm happy and healthy and that's what matters! Good luck and let me know how you go -
Still having issue with choosing the right foods!
bethxxx replied to odetteNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I struggle with this sometimes too. My boyfriend will sometimes bring home fried chicken and hot chips etc. I have a few things I like to keep handy for these occasions that are quick and easy such as: 1. Can if tuna in olive oil blend, really delicious and healthy 2. Frozen steam fresh veggie bags. They only take 2 mins in the microwave and I add herbs and lemon juice and they are tasty. 3. Half a slice of bread with shaved chicken or ham Anything that's quick and easy but still relatively healthy will help you out in these situations. Don't forget to treat yourself too. If I'm craving something I will get a scone. They are small enough that I can finish a whole one, they are really yummy and they are 300cal. Don't worry if you have bad food sometimes but try to have 80% of your meals healthy. -
Wow good on you!!!! Well done it takes a lot of guts to say that to someone and you did the right thing. Saying you're hot for a fat girl is NOT a compliment!!! I can't believe your friend would think it is!!

Omg!!!!! You look incredible! I can't believe the difference you must feel like a new woman!!!!!

When do we stop losing weight
bethxxx replied to minnie78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me that your body will stop losing weight when it's at a comfortable weight. I am 5 months out and down 58lbs post op. I have hit lots of stalls!!! Don't worry just push through them -

Life Insurance and Affairs in Order
bethxxx replied to twsport's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have kids but I have a lot of assets so I made sure my will was updated before surgery. It's not over reacting or anything it's just being smart and planning. You never know what could happen and it's better to be safe then sorry. As you said you don't want your family dealing with extra stress if something happens -
Yayyyy so happy for you

Yes I did this all the way along my journey and I still am! I had a goal dress for size 16 that I don't have a pic of. This was my size 14 goal dress : This was my size 12 goal dress: Now that I'm into my size 12 dress I'm buying a 10 or 8 tomorrow!! Yayyyy!!! I think that having a goal outfit is a great way to stay motivated to exercise and eat healthy!

Will I Ever Enjoy Food Again?
bethxxx replied to NikkiC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes you will!!!! I used to feel the same as you, eating was always a chore. It was difficult, sometimes even painful to eat. I am 5 months out and I love food! My favorite thing is fine dining. My partner and I go to fancy restaurants and either share a meal or he gets a main and I get an entree and he finishes what I don't eat. It's all good! Since surgery I've dined at many top restaurants and I've had lamb, chicken, beef, seafood, I can eat anything now!! The only thing that gives me slight problems is bread. It makes me gassy. You will love food again but it will be completely different to before. Instead of stuffing my fat face with so much food that I would feel sick, I now elegantly eat my meal very slowly and enjoy every mouthful!! -
Thanks everyone !!! P.s Kathy you really made me laugh hahaha
