    Portion Size

Don't have a picture for everyone but I combined 1 can of 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup with 1 package of jimmy dean turkey sausage crumbles, added 1/4 cup of reduced fat cheddar cheese...ate less than two ounces of it, but man was it good! It was like having sausage gravy
  2. Three months out, lost right around 60 pounds, can't complain on that part. But one thing that is concerning me is that every single time I work out, I experience a whole body sickness feeling. Nausea, shaking, sick to stomach, light headed, it's so bad I can't even take a sip of water. Well tonight after I had finished my workout (which to most wouldn't even be that hard, 30 minutes in all of cardio, nothing too crazy) and I was running to the bathroom dry heaving. I think I would have thrown up if I had something in my stomach, but I make sure to not eat for at least two hours before a workout. So, anyone know what's going on or experienced this? Any information would be helpful!
  3. Thanks for the insight, I'll make sure to try all of your helpful advice!
  4. Thanks for the information! I'll be sure to eat a little closer to working out!
  5. I've never really experienced profuse sweating, even when I was at a fit 145 in high school and working out with my swim team (included exercise out of the pool as well lol) for two-three hours a day.
  6. No, I'm a college student at one of the big ten schools so I walk at least a mile and a half a day just to get to and from classes. These feelings only occur when I get my heart rate up, when I'm actually trying to exert myself.
  7. I'm 2 1/2 months out and was wondering around that time how many ounces (or whatever form of measurement you use to measure food lol) were you eating? I'm eating no more than 2 ounces for anything solid, and if it's soup or soft (yogurt, hummus, etc) 4 ounces. I just wanted to see how I compared to other people! I'd love to hear from everyone! Thanks!

    How Many Ounces?

So when do you notice a real change in capacity, in terms of how much food you can get into your stomach? And can I ask how far out are you currently, and what's your normal serving size?

    Drinking And Eating

The misconception is that drinking while/directly after eating will stretch your stomach. The reason it's actually recommended is because if you drink soon after eating you are pushing the food out of your stomach faster, meaning you will feel full for shorter period of time. Surgeon said that when you're early out, if you slip up no biggie, it's when you're two years out and realize you can eat a lot more than you should because you're drinking with your meals you should follow the rule. I need water during my meals, or I'd only be able to eat a bite per meal! You are fine, if you do remember, great, if not nothing will happen!
  10. I take turkey pepperoni and a slice of 2% cheese (cut into tiny squares to fit on each pepperoni) and then put oven on broil and cook for 5-10 mins depending on if you like more of a soft or crunchy pepperoni I bet if you added a dollop of pizza sauce to each pepperoni that would be good, like mini pizzas!
  11. I'm going to be frank, I eat carbs! I was once on diet similar to the sleeve, in that protein came first then veggies and fruits...and if I was lucky a fat free cheese stick. It worked alright, lost a good 60 pounds, but I was MISERABLE! No corn, peas, bananas, pineapple, only the blandest fruits and veggies were okay. I decided this sleeve wasn't going to be a diet, especially like the one I had tried before, protein is still as important, but I eat beans and peas and corn and potatoes and mango and bananas, and I'm not afraid of food. It used to either be I ate anything or close to nothing, depending on if wanted to start a diet that day. I can't tell you how many mondays I would start with some horrible diet and to be lucky if I stuck with it till Tuesday. Then once I gave up I'd spend the rest of the week eating horrible, promising myself next Monday would be the day. Two months out, 55 pounds down, and I have yet to feel like I am "missing out" as I so often had felt before. For pre-ops, I can't describe to you how incredible it feels to not want to eat the pasta your friend is eating when you go out to eat, or to be completely content with just the small bowl of soup you ordered, knowing that not too long ago eating at a restraunt was all about searching for a meal promised with huge portions and enough food. Carbs, Fats, Suagrs (the good kind of course, I'm not eating a bigmac or anything outrageous!) they're all okay to eat DURING weight loss, don't be afraid of them. Food doesn't have to be our enemy! Moderation and healthy choices is all it takes!

    Carbs, Carbs, Carbs!

Butterthebean and doxieville- i am in no means putting down what others follow. I respect your choices and what you choose to eat and why not to! I was just super excited because I had a revelation and wanted to share it with people lol. But I think everyone is different and what works best for me might not work for someone else, especially since I'm pretty young compared to other people. But in the end, each person has to do what's best for them, I was just merely offering my experience )

    Carbs, Carbs, Carbs!

Thanks everyone! As I'm writing this I'm eating some kashi cereal and honey roasted peanuts! And no guilt! There have been bumps in the road, mainly figuring out how to manage acid reflux, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Last year I wore sweats and hoodies everyday (college student who is in Midwest) and it was because I hated the way I looked! Now jeans and sweaters and cute tops! My life is already so much better and I still have 80 pounds to lose! I feel so incredible!
  14. Two months out, and I feel alright but it's hard to get food and water in, here's why: since a month out or so I have been able to phaycally feel the acid in my stomach. Luckily it isn't coming up into my esophogus, but it's highly uncomfortable. And it has been starting to affect how much I eat and drink, but as this is happening I am not giving anything for my stomach to digest so YE acid only gets worse. Last night I was laying in bed and the acid was worse than usual, and laying down doesn't help. So in an attempt to make myself more comfortable, I sat up. Not thirty seconds later, I knew I was going to hurl. So I rushed to the bathroom and started throwing up the most bitter yellowish/clearish fluid. It was horrible! Anyone else experienced anything like this? I know it was either stomach acid or bile (but I'm not sure which, I'm not very knowledgeable in bodily functions lol) and I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared!
  15. So I am two months out, and I have to say that most days I just don't feel normal. Eating is hard, drinking is hard, and I have really bad heartburn at night. Now I know that your sleeve takes three months to heal, or around that time, but I want to know from people who have gone through this, not a doctor's perspective! So, when did you start feeling normal? How long did it take? When was the day where you realized you forgot you had surgery, or didn't have any side effects? I would lie and say if I wasn't getting discouraged, by the way I feel from day to day. I want to be able to eat, and drink without wanting to throw up! And I'm following all the rules, eating slow, no more than two ounces, waiting 30 minutes between meals to drink. I just want to make sure everyone knows that my symptoms aren't a result of poor eating habits or something of that nature. I mean even when working out, I often feel sick to my stomach and light headed. Please tell me someone out there has experienced this, and no longer has any of these symptoms. Thanks!
  16. I'm only two months out, so maybe I just haven't had enough first-hand experiences, but I'll be watching a cooking show (diners, drive-ins, and dives is my favorite!) and I'll see a portion, and I know I wouldn't be able to finish it, considering I can barely finish two ounces, but for some reason I still think "ohh that's not that big". I think my brain just hasn't caught up yet, if that makes sense? Anyone else do this?? I just find it silly, and thought I'd share and see if anyone else had a moment or two like this?
  17. On Monday, I was two months post op. I am down 50 pounds from my heaviest, 40 from day of surgery. I can't complain about the results...but it is becoming, what seems to me, increasingly difficult to eat. So here is the 'vicious cycle': I wake up and take my heartburn pill first thing (I have to take them twice a day), take a shower get dressed and then attempt to eat 2 oz of food. But I can usually stomach a bite or so. Because of this, my stomach remains empty and idk if anyone has experienced this, but when my stomach is empty (I'm not hungry, in fact I never feel like eating) it makes it harder to eat. For pre-op people think of not eating all day and then you finally do and it makes you sick to your stomach, with the accumulation of stomach acid and also nausea. And this is what starts my vicious cycle, I can't eat because my stomach is empty and I can feel all the stomach acid and it makes me sick, so therefore my stomach only gets worse, filling it up with more acid and making it harder to eat. See what I'm dealing with? It's also making it hard to get my water in! Is there anyone with advice to help? I need to be eating, but I can't stomach it, literally!
  18. So, today marks two months for me! I am so happy I did the sleeve and my progress. I've lost 40 pounds and am personally pleased with my stats. So I was wondering how much you lost at two months? And I also want to see if I'm eating too much! I eat no more than two ounces. But I ate a whole corn tortilla with 2% shredded cheese. Am I doing it wrong? LOL Please be honest guys!! Thanks!
