  1. I'm at the 2 year mark and I'm now struggling with my choices. I still have good restriction but I have been making poor choices. Luckily I'm only up 3 pounds. Yesterday I got on my treadclimber and today have planned my meals. I feel great about doing those 2 little things and am confident I can do this. You can do it too. Pick one thing and re-master that...you can get back on track :)

  2. <p>I have an appointment with a 2nd surgeon on the 21st of this month. I canceled my surgery with my original surgeon because I didn't feel comfortable I was getting all the information I wanted. This Dr. was great, but at the end of the day all that matters is how I feel and I didn't feel right with him. </p> <p>I would recommend getting a second opinion. All doctors are different and it is up to us as the patients to not accept everything just because it's a doctor saying it. Go see another doctor and see what he says. I'm in Texas, most doctors here do free consultations. I'm assuming that's fairly standard. Did he suggest bypass instead of sleeve? Are you open to that? I know that it's sometimes more successful for someone who has a higher starting rate. </p> <p> </p> <p>You are doing the right thing by coming here for advice, keep searching for the right answer (something you're comfortable with) and you will find it.</p>

I agree...a second opinion would probably be a great option at this time. I also agree with the other posters that it's possible that the sleeve will be enough to not need a second surgery.

  3. I ate a piece of sweet potatoe pie and the next day had a small slice of German chocolate cake only 4 the holiday will not make it a habit oh & a cup of wine 4 sips I was feeling tipsy almost drunk I don't like alcohol anymore wish I could say the same about sweets & btw I'm 8 months post op start weight 215 current weight 149

I have ate WAY too many Cookies. Also had a small sliver of butternut squash pie (like pumpkin pie). I stated at 206 and am 145 today. I didn't gain any during the holiday so I must have not done too terrible. I would have liked to have lost but that's ok I'm back in track now. I don't drink much at all anymore. I've had probably 4 drinks in the nine months I've been sleeved.

  4. <p>I am getting ready to have surgery on Jan. 6th but I am definitely a sugar addict. I shouldn't be cause I am type 1 diabetic but that is what gives me comfort. I am so scared that is what I will not be able to control after surgery. I so called started my pre op diet on Monday but I would say it is not going so well. I am still having a cup of coffee in the morning with splenda/sugar mixture and everything else I have been doing ok with. I think I am still consuming too much for my pre op diet.</p>

Oh wow acampbell1318, I'm a type 1 too. I have found that I had no cravings for sugar and junk until around 6 months post op. For me it's much easier to consume than Protein. I feel much better when I stick to the plan and have high protein low carb. I did this surgery to get better control of my diabetes. My a1c was 8.8 pre op and last test was 7.7. I'm trying to get below 7. I'm heading in the right direction but it's taking me a lot longer than I expected because of my carb struggles. There is another type 1 that I know of on these boards who has had great success. I will too, just got to make the right choices.

  5. Work is where I have the hardest time too. I'm 9 months post op and I realize my weight loss is expected to slow but I've only lost about 2 pounds in the last 2 months or so. I have about 15 pounds to go. The sugar/carb cravings is what is holding me back from reaching my goal. But I've recognized my issue and have started my pre-op diet today to detox. It worked before surgery so I'm hopeful I can get those cravings back in check and get the scale moving down again.

  6. I think sugar is my problem too. Christmas Cookies have been my latest addiction. I would suggest to you what I am starting today. I'm going back to the basics. I'm going back to my pre op diet to detox from carbs. I don't plan to do the liquids unless I still feel the cravings for sugar and carbs after 1 week. If I do, I'll do the second phase of my pre op diet of low carb liquids.

  7. I will be 3 months out next week and I track fat and carbs not so much calories cause I don't eat over 600 but I try to eat under 30 carbs which is hard everything has carbs in it even greek yogurt example of meals breakfast egg beater' date=' a slice of fat free cheese, 1 slice of turkey breast, lunch fat free cottage cheese and 5 grapes, dinner which is the bulk of my carbs bocca chicken patty its so good but about 40 calories in fat and due to it being breaded it has carbs when I finsh this box I'm done with them for a while going to stick to lobster tails and shrimp and my carb intake should be under 15 a day so carbs matter. I also am guilty of snacking latley nilla waffers and reduced fat ritz crackers haven't had them in two days trying to get to 190 by next Friday. Still haven't had any fast food yeah just the snacking on crackers and Cookies but in all lost 59 pounds so far probably would of lost more if it wasn't for all the mistakes I made example eating the wrong Soups, drinking gatarade tons of sugar in a bottle among other things.[/quote']

Thanks for the reply, what's your daily target for fat? I hate half of a breakfast burrito from McDonald's this morning along with one bite of hashbrown. Fast food has never been appealing to me so I don't see that ever becoming a problem. I had to eat that this morning because I was on a 5 hour car ride and only had time for a drive thru. I generally eat fast food maybe 5 or 6 times a year.

  8. And I don't know why I want it. Although I'm still eating in the same calorie range. Seems like all of a sudden (last 2weeks) I've been having crazy cravings for chips and Cookies. I'm three months post op and have lost 40 lbs. before I would eat my meal feel grossly full after a half cup. Now, I fell grossly full and then 20 min later I feel hungry all over again. Not sure what's going on but I don't like it :-/

I'm thinking maybe I'm not getting enough calories. I'm trying to eat 800 a day but only getting usually about 600. How many calories should I be getting in at 3 months post op? And do you track your carbs? I try to stay under 45 a day.

  9. I am using my fitness pal. I shoot for 800 a day. Most days I get around 600 ish because I get busy and forget my Snacks. With me' date=' the more I eat the more I lose. I was a total carb nazi when I started, but I started adding whole grains and some fruit and it broke my two week stall. I've broke 1000 twice but it was my TOM and it was like I couldn't get enough to eat lol.[/quote']

Thanks for sharing. A few days ago I was barely getting 400. I've decided to push for 600 minimum to try to stir things up. We'll see how it goes.

  10. I feel like a complete failure.. Surgery was 3/8 and to this day I've only lost 18 pounds... Wth? Anyone else experiencing this? My one week preop I lost 12. So since march 2nd I've lost 30. Just thought I'd lose more after surgery...

I've lost 33 since Feb 22. But I'm happy with that :-) I had two weeks pre-op that I lost like 9 lbs I believe.

  11. I'm 8 weeks out and I completely know what your talking about. Just taking a shower would leave me exhausted! I know some people can' date=' but I couldn't get my Protein in because I couldn't sip that much. It gets better I promise. About 4 weeks out I was getting my 60 of Protein. Now, I can pretty much drink like I did preop and getting 100 a day of protein. I found the more protein I got in, the more energy I had and the better I felt. Hangin there, each day it gets better. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Are you counting calories? I'm almost 8 weeks out and getting between 400-600 calories a day. Just wondering how that compares to others.

  12. Laura,

I think negativity just breeds negativity. People keep sharing negative thoughts and those like me keep quiet and just read through not posting. I had a hard time with my surgery. I was in the hospital for 4 days afterwards. I'm 7 weeks out tomorrow and my incision hasn't healed and I was just diagnosed with a staph infection. But guess what??? These things frustrate me, but still not one regret. I've also had a few rough moments where I wanted to eat like a freakiing fat pig like others around me, but I got through it and felt better than the others afterward :-)

No regrets here! And for those lurkers like me who don't regret it need to speak up more and make this forum a place for people to learn about the sleeve to make informed decisions. This site helped me tremendously.

  13. What's the usual time frame that the incisions heal? Thx in advance

I'm 3.5 weeks out and I had a single incision through my belly button and it is still not healed. I was worried and went in to see my surgeon and he said to give it more time. I hope it heals soon cause wearing pants is so uncomfortable.

  14. My sleeve was march 6th and with preop I've lost 23 pounds' date=' but only 6 of that since surgery. I'm worrying too <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />[/quote']

I think it's normal for a week 3 stall. I'm thinking I just hit that a lil early. I'm not too worried though. Just gonna keep on chugging along. Excited to start puréed foods tomorrow :-) never been so happy to eat an egg :-)
