  1. I'm much better now. My left side waist split probably wasn't a suture split but Fluid needing to burst out. It was extremely painful for weeks as my side swelled to a football size each day. My skin would crack from the swelling, unfortunately my left side isn't as tight but no one really sees it. I don't have love handles anymore and love my belly button. I do need touch ups on my back where they started the cuts as the skin has bunched but they will do it in the office this winter when I'm done swimming. Thanks for asking and checking on me!!

  2. I was celebrating to soon. Had Tummy Tuck Feb 6 th everything was going great then my incision split open on my left side. I went to Urgent Care they sent me on to the hospital. We went all the way to the hospital area that did my surgery and all they would do is steri strip my wound. I asked for antibiotics and they said no. My dr was not on call so the other dr did nothing. It started at 9 am got home around 3:30 pm. They didnt even clean the area. Went home, no fever the following day I thought it was going to heal. Spoke to drs office and got an appointment for the 30th. Then I started to ache like with flu and running a fever. Had my husband check my wound again as it at the back of my waist. It hard green puss so called the surgeon's office again, got in he didn't think much about it, he pulled out a suture out of the hole and I finally got antibodies on 3/21/2017. I'm in severe pain at the wound and my stomach is swollen and hard!!

i got blood work up today and made an appointment with my GP for next Tuesday with the surgeon appointment on Thursday. I'm in so much pain, I just called the drs office just now. I've been trying to wait for the antibiotics to kick in but my hard stomach is a killer. So now I may have to go into the surgeon's office again tomorrow- I'm sitting here in more pain than I was in after the full tummy tuck and needing painkillers that I rarely took then. Just got a call I have to go back again tomorrow over an hour plus drive through KC to Kansas to the surgeon's office and they are making me see the dr that blew me off at the hospital 2 weeks ago. Yippee skippeeee

  3. I had Abdominoplasty / Tummy Tuck on Feb 6th and had my one week follow up today. It's the first time I got to look at it and wow. I love it!! Yes I have a cut from hip to hip and they only removed one drain along with every other staple today but the incision was pulled together flat tight and perfect. The right drain line was removed and that was FAR less painful than the tape removal.

I am so pleased!! I go back in a week+ and the other staples with drain will be removed. I have hip bones, expect flat sides, which I really wanted , and a cute belly button. I didn't need much pain meds and except for the last two days of tape itching I've been great. A pull on the drains were uncomfortable at times but I just changed positions.

My sleeve surgeon also does tucks for his patients at a cash price far below anywhere else (plastic surgeons) that I could get to return my calls.

He only does tucks and no other procedure I.e. Breast, legs, or arm lifts.

i am 62 and debated the surgery the last 18 months from my sleeve date; however older ladies it IS so worth doing for yourself! No one may ever see it but hubby and I and that is just fine by me. I no longer expect to be pushing skin into a stretch "Cami" or slimming underwear but I also won't be getting sores under tummy hang over either.

I wish i could throw myself into a dryer and "shrink" all my other loose hanging skin. But I will take this with a huge smile on my face.

    write if you have questions???

  4. I have about 10 days to my Tummy Tuck. I was more nervous for this surgery than the sleeve. But now that I'm getting things done around the house.. Money paid ---I'm so ready to go.

I've had shingles, flu and bad headaches from the combo - so I've gotten practice toward the pain. The flu has me at my lowest weight so they should a great base, I've back off exercise because of being ill and now so I don't pull anything.

Hubby has been told the worst of how the recovery could go and all the work/help he may have on his hands. If anything I like being alone while ill and he worries and hovers. (But he has seen me seriously I'll before so he does have reasons).

I'm old but looking a lot younger and from everything I've experienced on everything is do it younger, feel better for many many years of your life.

Send me any great suggestions on the tummy tuck, I learned a lot from the groups before my sleeve.

  5. I agree totally, I made my goal several months back. I've been eating some of whatever I want. I give myself 2-3 lbs on the scale to be up. Then I go back full force and one day is all I usually need.

I ate a bunch of raw carrots and they either killed me Father's Day or a little bbq the kids brought may have given me food poisoning. It was so horrible I thought my husband was going to have to take me to the hospital. It made dumping syndrome a piece of cake (). My stomach has been a little tender since.

Has the 5 lbs been a part of Constipation? I try to weigh the days I have gone to the bathroom recently. If your weight goes to far do the 5 day reset diet, even if you only do it 1-2 days. It will prove you can keep on track after a few bad days. Also Drs that specialize in weight have some meds that can help new bees like us. I'm almost at a year. I went to a Lipo office and I have very little fat so if I want to do anything about my skin it will be a Tummy Tuck or nothing.

You can do it, I believe in you.

  6. I had surgery in August but stared working on it the January before. My low is 125, my goal was 140 originally but like being smaller even though I'm old and skin is ugly.

I stay around 126-127 depending on Constipation or not.

At 129 I kick it in gear and really behave for several days. I started worki out at the gym and trainer and started eating more immediately, I assume my body just plain needed it.

I can eat almost anything and I'm still try learning again on how not to over eat. Yes, I worry some about gaining it back because it has always happened prior in my life; however as each month passes and I stay within 3-5 lbs of my low I try to tell myself I can continue to make it work. I make shrink appointments 3-6 month to get my mind working in the right direction and have a gp that specializes in post of gastric surgery and knows how to help you continue in the weight loss journey.

It is what I have to do to make the "tool" surgery work.

    Good luck to all.

  7. @@lifeofblair

At 5-10 you are tall for your weight, I'm 5-4 and 126-127 and am in a size 4 jeans and medium shirt, but people bug me on how thin all the time. Saw my doc this week and I'm healthier than I have been in years. I just worry since joining the gym I just plain think of food and eating more.

  8. Please take the surgery seriously, it has been so easy for me. I love my sleeve, I fit into a size 6 jeans today and I'm over 60. Once you decide to have the surgery do so with your whole heart and mind, don't look back only forward.

My knees and ankles were horrible and I was on daily meds for osteoarthritis and pain. I'm not on them any longer, still pain if I over do but I do stairs more often now. I work out on abs and rowing, so I can sit to work out versus standing so I do exercise now.

The skin sagging is no fun but a big part of that is my age and genetics.

It doesn't make your life perfect and it is sometimes strange how people act to your weight loss or say dumb things but that is better than fat comments.

    Suggestions I found helpful.

Gas ex tablets or melt strips

Find a follow up dr/md that specializes in wls as they know the in's and out's they will help you be successful! (I didn't think I needed one at first but have so supportive and helpful)

Keep in touch with your shrink because some days are easy and others are tough as hell.

Believe you can do it! I know you can!

  9. I have read a few times the sleeve failed, several times the sleeve needed adjusted. Don't use it as an excuse, but it may have happened to you. My after surgery specialist md says you still have to have more calories burned than you take in-with surgery or not. But he also has told me over and over again if I find I'm slipping or finding it coming back on he can help.

I agree start with the Liquid Protein diet and after a day or so see if your sleeve is back working.

We all believe you can get back on track and make it to your goal!

  10. Don't let anything or anyone stop you from having the surgery!

It gives you a wonderful future, I wish I could have had it when I was younger. I look better (clothed) anyway. I go up and down stairs so much easier. Find a good second hand store! I have bought only about 4 items new they were size 12 jeans, 10 jeans which I returned for 8s and they are now to big and a Christmas sweater which is to big but will try to take it in.

It doesn't make your life perfect with out your normal issues so don't expect it to.

Get your mind behind the liquid phase, after day 2 it won't be bad as your body has adjusted. Just remember we ALL did the liquid phase. You will be able to cook for your family because you will have to afterwards, is it always easy no but eating huge amounts had it bad moments too.

Get a friend from this group or from your surgeons support group. Having someone that had the surgery on or near your surgery date to rely, complain, or encourage you helps so much.

Also if possible find a md that specializes in patients that just had gastric surgery. Our surgeon had a dr stop in before we were released. I really didn't think I needed him, but they know every issue you have or will have. They have ways to help you so much. I would suggest anyone that has gained back any weight find one. He has told me they have all kinds of ways to stop it before it gets out of hand, and I BELIEVE him.

Don't give up go forward and message me if you need someone!

  11. Cravingabetterme. I didn't loose the weight all that fast, especially since August 19. I started checking into the surgery probably around last Christmas and went to seminars in January. Checked our insurance and had to wait 6 months, they were hellish. I did weigh in as heavy as possible in January to meet their initial weight requirements.

I decided to eat as if I had the surgery for the six months and insurance worrying helped me to be active. Jan end 219. March 200 aug 185 or so oct 165 nov 150s all of nov and most of dec to get to 140. Around 4 lbs a week but people from our August group have lost 80 lbs in 4 months.

I'm in my sixties and January we bought me a walker because my health was taking serious down turns. It has made major positive results.

Keep in touch. I think being positive helps your recovery, but I have had my moments but no regrets at all.

  12. Have your SURGERY! You had a great start on your own but keeping it off is the tough part. I made my GOAL weight yesterday and I want that for you. Like you I actually lost weight during my 6 months insurance waiting period. So I wondered, but I had gained and lost a zillions time. I had surgery August 19 and hit 140 yesterday from 229 and 5'4" very similar to you. My husband was supportive most of the time but kind of panicked the last week. It is to be expected in some ways, they are men. I'm sure he is worried about what life changes HE can expect. But that is his problem not yours.

I don't workout every day, I feel this is a life change not I diet for me. I feel I can have 1-3 small bites of anything but I always stop at three and certainly not often. Sometimes when I take a workout break for 3-4 days my body drops pounds.

Bless you and have a safe journey.

  13. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored is great to add to things like yogurt or many others. Protein items from sams or costco are not bad. But but an individual one at quicky stores to see if you like.

I usually love strawberry and couldn't drink it. I like the pwd vanilla the best. But everyone wrote don't over buy and it was so true. You buy like the old you but the new you eats and drinks so little you don't need a lot.

My husband likes it all or I'd be returning so much.
