INCISION UPDATE: NOT INFECTED!!!! Since my surgeons office is a few hours away I had to see another MD. A local Dr. agreed with what my surgeon said over the phone... I had a severe allergic reaction... it must have been the tape or glue. I was prescribed an ointment, and he said it should go away within a week I am so happy... thank God!!! I thought it was an infection... thanks to everyone for your advice!!!

I'm with you ladies!!! I was operated on November 12, my surgery weight was 230... when I was released from the hospital 2 days later I weighted myself and I was at 240 A weight gain of 10 pounds, but I figured it had to be all the IV that was given to me, also the swelling and keep in mind that a lot of us don't have bowel movements right away (TMI): In fact I was constipated probably 5 days before my surgery... but today is day 9... I checked my weight and I'm at 227 - sounds awesome but have you have remember I gained 10 pounds...so in really I'm down 3 pounds... but it's okay it will start to come off!!!!

I'm only about 9 days post op so can't give you too much advice... but I'd like to share information on a product is called ProteinBlitz it's probably like a Powerade or Gatorade drink, however it has 30 grams of Protein in a 20 ounce bottle. That might be another option for you to get some more protein in... at least 1 bottle per day. I got mines at a place called the Vitamin Shoppe... I'm sure you can look this product up online and figure out where else they might sell it somewhere in your town... I think they cost about 2.50 each. Good Luck!!!

Thanks for the tip... I hope it's something simple but honestly looking at it: red circles around each incision... swollen... itchy and burning and it doesn't seem right I can't wait until my appointment tomorrow afternoon!!!!!

Thank you so much for the reply! I've never had any allergies to tape or latex.... I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago and I never had that problem before. I will try benadryl cream tomorrow How would you know if it was an infection or has anybody had something similar???? I've heard of people even getting something called cellulitis???

Don't feel bad I was sleeved on November 12th and 2 days later I hopped on the scale and I had actually gain 10 pounds but I do believe it's because of the iv ... also the swelling and I hadn't had a bm!!!

My incisions look good... no drainage... pus etc. But today they are sooooooooo itchy :/ Driving me NUTS!!!!! Advice????

Hey Nov. Sleevers... How are you???? I was sleeved on the 12th. So far I'm Ok. I am fine with my Water and Protein... sip sip sip. My goal is to drink one 200 calorie can per day per my MD, Plus as much water as possible. Of course I am still very achy and feel very weak and dizzy at times... but over all I'm Ok... I have yet to vomit... but today I passed my 1st BM post op... TMI: OMG diarrhea attack... my stomach and guts were turning and I barely made it to the rest room. Sorry for the details... but I want to share the good truth! Oh well... its over and I am much relieved. FYI: I gained 10 pds post surgery... I think from all the IV fluids and swelling-cuz I weighted 235 the day of surgery and 245 2 days later????? Well today is day 4 and I'm down 8 out of those 10. Question: Whats your 2 week post op diet????? Mine is only a Protein shake divided in to 4 servings per day and water... :/ Good Luck & God Bless to all!!!!!

MY REPLY Talk to your Dr... common advice would be if by 6-7 days postop no BM... your bowels need a little help like Milk of Magnesium, etc... ask your Dr. what he/she recommends over-the-counter... Good Luck

Today is day 6 for me and I doing good... a little pain... bloating & gas- But over-all I am ok I am a little jealous cuz others can have soup... yogurt etc Lol For 14 days... 1 can of Protein divided into 4 serving... Water and ice chips My Dr is strict :/ On Friday I called and asked if I could have a little broth or decaff tea... and the answer was NO... I just though a little something warm would make my tummy feel good... This is hard... I am not hungry... its just old habits... Head hunger and boredom :-( Today I did have 2 baby spoons of sugarfree Jello... but I promise to behave.

I just was sleeved in Nov 12th... My advice... I was having trouble getting my Water in... not because I can't tolerate it but because its such a chore... sip sip... every ten mins. What helps me.... Ice chips :-) I love the hospital pellet like ice... I remembered that a local fast food place "Sonic" serves that ice so I bought a 10 BAG FOR ABOUT $2.50 Ice to me is not such a chore ???? Lol... In fact it keeps my month entertained and not dry... That's my advice to you... WHAT'S YOUR ADVICE??? RE: Anything... Thanks

Congrat everyone... and God willing we will all recover fast w/o complications! FYI Re: BM's I was told it could take up to 1 week for the first BM... it's ok to take a little milk of magnisa to get your bowels moving. Well I am NOT hungry or craving anything... my husband and kids feel bad to eat in front of me... but I am fine... my tummy is sooo delicate and achy THE LAST THING THAT I WANT IS REGULAR FOOD!!! From What I read some of you are able to have other stuff like Jello & broth and even are able to start pureed / mushy stuff the 2 week.... lucky! I am stuck with Protein shakes and Water for 2 complete weeks... week 3 is the next phase for me. TTYL Hugs & Blessing to all!!!!

Oh forgot to mention: My back is killing me... I am NOT a back sleeper... I LOVE to sleep on my tummy or side- but can't right now which is torture :/

I was also sleeved on Nov 12th... yesterday was ok but today I feel weak... tired... and dizzy :/ The gas pain in my chest and left shoulder are driving me nuts!!! I need to get up and walk but I am scared too... I am home alone. Murphys Law... my mother was going to care for me but I haven't seen her once due to her having the flu

I slept a lot and walked in the evening. Yesterday I could not have food or Water... But today they are giving me ice chips... water and a little serving of Protein shake. My serving sizes are smaller than a shot glass - 1 every 15 mins. My pain is much better today... and I have walked a few times. Warm plastic heating bags have been given to me to place on my tummy and a cold one for the back of my neck- And they help! I was told that if I tolerate my fluids well I will be discharged this p.m. Thanks Again... Good luck to all!!!

Congrats & Good Luck... it's a great choice. In fact the nurse that attended me was sleeved 2 years ago and said it was the best choice out there... she went from 310 to 185 Sooooo inspiring!

At peace Yesterday I did cry privately in my bathroom- Didn't want my kids or hubby to know. Oh well... I am getting ready now for my 2 hr drive to the hospital... Mon. Nov 12th is my big day Tonight I want to pack my overnight bag... I am having surgery locally, so I just want to take a few "ESSENTIAL" items- WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND? THANKS

I'm booked for surgery on Nov 12th... If you are/were a Fresno patient.... How was the care there??? Were you happy with the service??? Most importantly... Did you have complications??? Just a little nervous :/
