  1. ok it;s been a long long time since i've posted. i've been so disgusted with my band. I had to have my port turned around twice i've had only one real fill and that was about 7 months ago. I had surgery 12-2-04 and have only lost 37lbs. I am very disappointed. Fran
  2. Hello Everyone I know it's been a long time since i've posted but, I was so frustrated with my band experience. I just didn't have much to say. We'll I got my port revised 02-10-05, went for followup appt 2-14-05 and discovered that not only did he revise my port he also gave me a fill, my fill was 1.5cc. I was wondering why i was feeling much different after surgery with my eating. I even had my first PB experience which wasn't very nice. But now I know why i was feeling so different. Now I can get on my journery of this weight loss experience. My initial weight the original day of surgery was 250 I am as of today 242. My original surgery date was 12-2-04. So i'm feeling a lot better about this band. I think that now that i've had my fill am i supposed to be doing liquids for a few days? I'm not quite sure. I now must really follow the banded rules. So wish me luck on this journey. I'll promise not be a stranger here any longer. Fran
  3. sorry you're not feeling well leatha, Hope you are feeling better soon. You are like the pillar here always with good advice. Fran
  4. Rachael I loved those pictures they really made me laugh, So cute, I needed that. Fran
  5. and thanks everyone for your concern. Don't mean to be rude. Fran
  6. Actually the Dr. didn't say how much it flippled just that it did. They tried pushing mashing my stomach still no luck and it was under flouroscopy also, still no luck. He doesn't know how it flipped either just says it's a complication that happens one in 700 so you go figure lucky me. I had been feeling a pulling sensation in my stomach port side but thought nothing of it, thought it was maybe normal. Oh well. Fran
  7. Hi Betty, You look great in your pictures. and you can really see your weight loss in those baggy pants. Keep up the good work. Fran
  8. Hello Everyone, I know it's been a long time since I posted. But i'm mad. I went for my 1st fill today and it did not go well. It seems that my port has flipped somewhow. So I wasn't able to get a fill. I have to go back in a week or so to have revision done. But, it's going to take longer than that since i have to wait on referarral from insurance. I am just so discussted (excuse spelling). It just seems that if it weren't for bad luck i wouldn't have any. I'm just destined to be fat for the rest of my life. Ok that's one story, I went back to work last week, things were fine, but now i'm off another week already my back went out on me, my doctor says it's a pulled muscle. I really don't think so. I have been sleeping sitting up in my recliner chair for 3 nights now. I can't lye down it I do I get excrutiating pain in my back when i try to get up, and then my back starts throbbing. I am not having a good year so far. And to top this off on jan 1st my brother and I took my sister and her 3 kids back to minnesota and on the way back we were caught in a bad ice and snow storm and my brother's van broke down on the interstate, neither of us had a cell phone. we managed to get the van to a gas station which was open 24hrs. and luckly i had my AAA card we were 77 miles outside of whenre my brother lived in Millwaukee, Wis so they towed us there. I then had to take a greyhound bus back to chicago the next morning, and the ticket agent had a bad attitude. Ok i've blown off enough steam. So as you can see i'm not having a great year so far. But I do that God for another day. I hope all is well with everyone else. Sincerely, Fran banded12- 02 - 04 Dr. Horgan University of Illinois, Chicago

Ok i'm going to fess up I too am able to eat quite a bit. I thought we could only hold about 4ozs of food at a time with the band but i'm finding that i can take in much more than that. But still not discouraged hope to get a fill soon. I'm 2wks post surgery have lost only 3lbs but haven't gained either.. Not really eating a lost of solid stuff still doing soft basically and liquid. My diet mainly consists of Jello, pudding, mashed potatoes, cream Soups, salmon salad, crackers and i'm able to eat chicken nuggets even though i try to stay away from the nuggets because they are fried. Otherwise that's really it Oh I do have applesauce and cottage cheese pretty oftern. Fran
  13. Congratulations Thresa, And welcome to bandland, get some rest and keep us posted. Fran

  16. Hello Everyone, I'm just 1 wk into bandland and the only time I think I actually felt the restriction was 2-3 days post-op. At that time I was only consuming maybe one Jello and very little Water. Now, I can drink or eat a whole bowl of cream Soup or broth and now i'm able to drink a lot of water. But, i'm not going to panic. Because I know this is normal. I just can't wait until i'm able to get my 1st fill so I can feel my band actually working. So please Christine stay encouraged and don't give up. I also have not lost a pound since the surgery, either. Fran

  21. what i meant by eating is Clear Liquids for instance Jello and juice i should have said afraid to cosume something not exactly eat. I am following everything to a tee. And i have some typing errors. I meant my weight was 258 on 11-22-04 not 1-22-04. Gas pains last night were miserable., had to sleep sitting up in my recliner chair in the living room. have taken tums and maalox with minimal relief. hurts when i take a deep breath also. Ok I guess i've complained enough. But this is just how i'm feeling right now. Until next time. Fran
  22. :banana Hello Everyone, Just going to drop a quick note. Got tired of lying in bed, plus was told I need to walk around some. Everything went well with the surgery. Very sore and afraid to eat. I've had one small Jello cup and not a whole one and maybe 8 ounces of juice and it took a long time to cosume the juice. I feel very bloated passing gas though. and belching a whole lot. My left should blade is sore and my port side is very sore. I quess this is to be expected. But, i'm glad i've crossed over to this side. And I would like to thank everyone who prayed and kept me in their thoughts.. My initial weight on 1-22-04 when i started the liquids was 258 day of surgery 249. So that's great looking forward to more weight loss. We'll time to go, will post later Thanks again, Fran
