  1. Sadly, I find myself with a gain as well....I know what I should do. Its just a matter of getting my mind set back. My surgery was September 10th 2012 and I just need to get back in the groove of taking care of myself once again. Life gets in the way sometimes with a new grandbaby or a husband that has health issues and you just want to take care of everyone but yourself. I have a bad habit of putting myself on the back burner. I still can't eat very much but I haven't been eating healthy. That is going to change...I am starting over tomorrow. I have 22 pounds to lose! Hello 5:2 plan.

  2. I found keeping a bag of crushed ice on hand was the solution for me. It was so convenient. My hubby would go get it for me from the local Sonic Drive In. If you haven't tried this...it might work for you. I always keep a cup of ice handy nearby. Even now 3 years out from surgery, I still do this.

  3. What you're experiencing is totally normal. Believe me when I started the journey, I was gung-ho about getting this done and how much I was looking forward to feeling better...until the night before my surgery. I could not sleep, I was a total wreck...and that morning I even had an anxiety attack that I couldn't go through with the surgery...Luckily my husband sat me down and reminded me of all the effort I had put in to starting this new life. I realized he was right and wiped away those silly tears and had my surgery. BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF! I have no regrets. You won't either. Just follow your surgeons advice and take care of yourself, follow their program and you will be just fine! Go for it!

  4. First, don't panic. Go back to basics. Start logging everything you put in your mouth. And measure your portions too. If you're not exercising...put your walking shoes on and get active. Remember why you did this and get back on track. Don't lose your resolve to be healthier. Take those vitamins! Very important at this point to start back taking care of yourself. Your body went through a major shock...it's still adjusting to the changes. Do check in with your doctors office or nutritionist...they will have good tips for you too. Hang in there...everyone is different..this won't last long.

  5. I totally understand your nerves. I didn't sleep the night before my surgery...I kept telling myself I was being silly. I cried too. I even woke up that morning telling my husband I wasn't sure I could go through with it...LOL...but he calmed me by reminding me all the time I had spent getting ready for this and how bad I really needed to do this. I was 207 #s, with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and bad knees. I am so thankful that I went through with the surgery. I stopped taking BP medicine the day I went home from the hospital. My surgery was Sept. 10, 2012. I have lost 63 #s. I weigh 144. My goal was originally 140. My experience has been a good one. I don't regret it one bit. It is a tool that I wish I had known about long ago. Good Luck on your journey!

  6. You might ask if your surgeon provides you with an abdominal binder to wear after the surgery. Some surgeons don't. My surgeon did. It really helps in recovery time...and mainly gives you support which is helpful in getting in and out of bed and just walking around after the surgery. It helps with pain management. If you have to go back to work right away after surgery...the binder will keep you comfortable. Good Luck!!

  7. I had this same experience. I ended up changing the time of day I took them...that didn't help. So I ended up changing to a different brand. I started with Bariatric Advantage Vitamins...made me so nauseous....talked to my surgeon and got approval to use One a Day Multi Vitamins gummies. I also bought Nature Made b-12 and Vitamin D and Iron. You might check with your surgeon and see what they advise. Wouldn't hurt. Good Luck.

  8. I found keeping a cup of crushed ice nearby helped me to get my Water in...it also helps in the healing process as well. I would buy a bag of crushed ice from my local Sonic Drive-in....since the size of their crushed ice was perfect for my needs. You might try this method of getting your Water in.

  9. You might watch how the food is prepared...not too much butter or grease...or spice..keep it kind of bland. Give it some time...I ate soft scrambled eggs at first then went to sweet potaotes and regular baked potatoes...I didn't try anything to heavy for awhile. I boiled a variety of vegies. I ate meatloaf, salsbury steak, and eventually tried some tuna with light mayo. It just takes time. Hang in there. It will get better...and sooner than you think.

  10. Apparently your surgeon didn't offer you an abdomen binder after surgery. Some doctors do and some don't. It helps with stabilizing your abdomen. It really helps. I wore mine 24/7 up to 6 weeks after my surgery because I didn't want to take a chance of feeling any pain from moving around. I would advise anyone to get a binder especially if they are going back to work soon after surgery just for comfort. It really helps if you are going to be on your feet for a long time. If you can get one...you should. Why experience pain if you don't have to. Check with your doctor about it.

  11. I too did not tell my friends and some family members about having my surgery. I did it to feel better about myself. I also felt like I would be judged since I have battled with my weight for years and did not want to hear their negative comments.. I chose the sleeve because I felt like it was a great tool to help me control my eating and it has been wonderful. I no longer take blood pressure meds! I have lost 61 #s and just feel great. Do this for yourself and don't worry about the naysayers! Go for it!

  12. I have been taking the Biotin from the beginning of my journey. My Hair loss at 4 months out was really freaking me out. My hairdresser advised me to keep taking the Biotin because she could see the regrowth where I could not. I believe it has helped. My doctor has told me that my hair should start coming back by the time I am a year out from my surgery. It will be a year in September. I can already tell that it is thickening back up. Thank the Lord! I also use organic coconut oil twice a week to help it grow faster too.

  13. Try crushed ice....it helps to get your liquids in. One or two pieces instead of sipping...helped me get thru the first few weeks. I bought bags of crushed ice from my local Sonic Drive In. Having pains in the neck/back and shoulders...use a heating pad. I was told that the anesthesia would cause that discomfort and the heating pad would help with that.

  14. Good to hear from you. Take it easy tomorrow....follow your surgeons directions and you should do fine. I would suggest you get some crushed ice to help with your Water intake...and a heating pad will help your upper back for gas...just will soothe you warming you. Be careful getting up...roll to your side then push up with your arms....go slow....it will get better as each day passes! Hang in there! :)

  15. These feelings are normal. I was scared too..I knew that once I got to the hospital I would be ok. I spent 3 months getting prepared for it...seeing the cardiologists, the nutritionist, and the shrink....I kept telling myself...I was going to feel better getting this surgery. That was my mantra the night before...I still got scared...but 7 months out...I feel great. No regrets at all. I have sooo much more energy now that I am 52 #s down. shake your fears off and go for it.
