    The Dreaded Stall!

I had a nurse tell me that when this happens to just keep doing what I am doing...and to remember that your body has been thru a traumatic experience and is reacting in a"wth" mode adjusting to all the new experiences it is having. I am 6 weeks out from surgery and yes I have experienced this...just be patient and stay on course.
  2. I keep a cup of crushed ice with me all the time. It has helped me meet my water goals daily.
  3. Another consideration....you might be lactose intolerant. It happened to me. You might purchase a single bottle of a lactose free protein drink first.. like Muscle Milk. You might try it.
  4. I think we all experienced those feelings ...I know I did and on the morning of my surgery after not sleeping at all the night before panicked and told my husband I didn't want to have it...but he put his arms around me and calmed my fears and reminded me of the hard work I had put in for this change and how much I was really going to benefit from it. My surgery was Sept 10, 2012. I was on high blood pressure meds before the surgery but not anymore. I am 28 pounds down and feeling very good. I have lots of energy. The pain I experienced was not unbearable. I stopped taking pain meds after 3 days out. I attribute my success to my doctor. I have followed her directions to the "T". I was scared to death...yes...but I have no regrets. As each day goes by you will get better. Good Luck and just take it one day at a time.
  5. Just continue doing what you are doing...remember your body just had a major shock and is in the healing mode too...I experienced my weight not moving for a few days as well. Just follow your doctors instructions for eating and the weight will start to fall off. Hang in there. Take it one day at a time.
  6. Try using a heating pad when you rest. That might help some. Also did your doctor send you home with a binder to wrap around your abdomen? Mine sent me home with one and it has really helped me. They told me to use it as long as I needed it.

    Leak Test

Wow.. the hospital where my surgery occurred had a machine that I stepped up on and stood during the test....the equipment moved up and down while I stood there swallowing the liquid. It was very fast and yes the barium tasted awful...but thankfully it was over very quickly...and yeah I threw up on the way back to my room. And that was the ONLY time I have thrown up since my surgery. Thank goodness I am two days away from week 3...moist and soft foods. I have grown tired of protein drinks , jello and SF popsicles, and broth. I can't wait for the variety!
  8. This is day 7 post op for me. I am doing fine. I have lost 17 pounds since surgery. I am getting around good. I get up and walk around the house. I have managed to do light housekeeping. I am still sore on my left side. I sip all day too. I am looking forward to next week and the soft moist food I can have. I am getting tired of protein shakes too. I don't regret having the surgery and look forward to better days when I am not sore and can eat a variety of food. I am not hungry and have been able to cook for the family with no problem. I have not had any pain or nausea medicine today so maybe I am starting to get past that need. My husband remarked today that he can see the weight loss in my face and legs. Yay!! Happy Dance!!!

    Hello Y'all

Hi..My name is Zel and I went thru hoops for my insurance company too. I was sleeved this past Monday 9/10/12. I am excited. I am 17 pounds down this morning. I started at 205. I had high blood pressure and sleep apnea. I understand your nervousness. I was the same way up until the morning of my surgery and then it just hit me...this was what I needed to do to feel better. My feet used to hurt as well. But not anymore. I am happy I did this. Think positive and take one day at a time. Those 6 months will pass by before you know it!!!

    Sleeve Done On 9/12

How about trying crushed ice chips? That's what I've been doing...I was worried about staying hydrated as well. My surgery was this past Monday 9/10/12. I am doing fine so far. I like the crushed ice you can get from any Sonic drive in...they will sell you a bag. I like Crystal Lite Peach tea flavor as well...I have also learned to water down any chicken broth I can't seem to stand the smell of it...go figure. I had a one week pre-diet before my surgery and today I was down 17 pounds! Can't wait to get this first few weeks behind me!

    Nail-Bitingly Nervous!

Hey,,I can totally understand your anxiety. My surgery is Monday Sept. 10th. I have been patient and gone thru all the testing required. I have made pros and cons lists. Many. But you know what the truth is.... I really just want to feel better. As Chris54 said...try to be encouraged. I am sooo ready to get this behind me and just feel better.
  13. I recently experienced hair loss from a thyroid condition. My hair got very thin....and my hairdresser suggested I try Biotin. I have taken it over 2 months now. After two weeks I noticed my hair was coming back. This stuff works. You can get it at GNC. I will continue to take it after my surgery too. Hope this helps. I had also read that primrose oil was good for hair loss too but I cannot say for sure.
