  1. It would be strange to NOT be nervous! Voluntarily removing most of an organ is a big deal. I was nervous, it was all I thought about for months before. It consumed me.

Then I drove myself to the hospital and found I was strangely calm. I was completely at ease with my decision. Recovery sucked, but a couple of shitty days is a drop in the ocean for a healthier 50 or so years. It took one week for me to feel a bit more normal, and each day gets better! I'm dropping weight, in the next few days I'll start exercising. I sleep better and wake refreshed - and that's only 2 weeks out.

VSG is a big deal - but so far it's paying off :) I feel so much better. Hang in there :)

  2. Guys - I'm about 17 days post op and things seem to be going really well.

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes I feel a little light headed (I wouldn't go as far to say dizzy) if I stand up quickly.

Do you think it's a blood pressure thing' date=' or is it normal with the very low calorie intake?

My blood pressure has always been perfect and I've never felt light headed pre surgery.

Hope your all having a good weekend, I'm working :(

Hi Deano. My drs pack says that light headedness is normal for a little while (it also says 3 or more times a day should get checked out).

  3. You could only really see my weight loss in my face and saddlebag area (no more saddlebags!!) until the second week of November. That was when my abdominal area really started shrinking. It has only been this past week that people have stated commenting on my weight loss. Don't get discouraged if you don't lose all over at first - everyone is different but eventually it will come off!

Oh that's good to hear! My trousers are sagging around my legs and bum, but I can't go a smaller size because of my stomach.

  4. Pre-sleeve I could eat ridiculous amounts of foods (pre-menstrual). In a week or so I'll be taking notice of how I feel. But there's no way we can eat what we used to, so a Protein snack will probably satisfy. And I expect that now I have not been eating sugary/sweet foods, stable blood sugar levels will help.

  5. A surprise for me was I didn't know how exhausted I would really be from this. I am so tired after the smallest task. But even takin a shower knocks me out lol Tomorrow will b 1 wk post op and I do an official scale check! Good luck everyone!

I mentioned to my husband that my son and I took a nap together yesterday because I was getting very tired and his response was "surgery was a week ago!" presumably I should now be up to doing a marathon or something....

But I am the same. I get quite tired. So I rest. But each day is getting better :)
