And I really want to rock my own style - not settle for whatever I can find that fits.
AND I want to set a good example for my daughter - health, fitness and self confidence

get back into horseback riding.. i was DARN good at it. my instructor said i was one of the best she'd ever seen... and i lost it' date=' because i became a horse, instead of riding one... so... i wanna get back into it desperately!
[/quote']
Yes yes yes! Except I prefer to ride my donkey, and I'm actually not a good rider.... But I sure do enjoy it

I want to
1) get fit, head to America and compete in a pack burro race!
2) never be reluctant to take the kids swimming
3) learn to dance - salsa perhaps
4) generally start living!

I am lamenting how little I can now eat' date=' but know it's for the best. Just hard to get used to.[/quote']
kelliv - I'm right there with you! I'm such a "see food and eat it" person, I know this is going to be tough (when I get there). But won't the world stop spinning if I can't eat ALL of it?? Re-training the brain won't be easy.
Good luck! I am sure you can do it

I did not have a pre-op diet as my bmi was under 40. I did use the week before to detox off sugar and carbs and drink alot more Water.I don't have do do a pre-op diet either. BMI 34 I think. He said my BMI was not high enough to need to do pre-op.
But I'm going to do the same - try to kick sugar and carbs, get the worst over.

My surgeon was more interested in capacity rather than weight. This is 1 of 3 pictures he gave me post op. i love it!!!
Wow! I had no idea! That explains a lot!! Do I REALLY fill that up? Sadly....yes I do.....

Ugh. Some of those Protein Shakes are reeeevolting! And expensive if you don't like them.

Firstly' date='
*What essential personal items did u take or wish you had packed for hospital?
*My doctor says I will be in for 1 night- I was expecting longer? How many nights were you in for?
*Dr says its very important NOT to vomit after surgery, but some have posted they vomited within minutes of waking? Did you?
*What antacids can/do you use?
*What Protein shakes do you use post op? I have read Optifast is no good post-op.
*I have read some have had a 'last meal' the night before surgery. (I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not) Did you have a last meal and what was it? I read one post had KFC!! O_o Lol.
*Anything essential you think a pre-op SHOULD know before going in?[/quote']
Good questions! I'll be reading answers with interest.
Re the Protein - did a bit of a comparison the other day, and the Atkins one came in the best I think. I'll be using that one - plus I know it tastes pretty good (as compared to others)

On my visit to surgeon I was chatting to a lady in a wheel chair. She told me the sleeve was absolutely the best thing she ever did. I didn't get the chance to talk in depth with her - but it must be possible! She looked really great.
Can you do any light weights/resistance? Get In the pool?

I'm hoping as my diet improves and weight is lost, that my hormones might settle a bit and the cravings slow down a little!
-
Hi all. I haven't yet been sleeved, but I am wondering how others (post-op) cope with premenstrual cravings? I turn into a sugar demon
and was wondering (a) if it still happens and (
how have you coped?
-
Hi Susie - glad your op went well and you are coping ok!
Ask the nurses for something for your dry mouth. There are products they can use. It might make you a bit more comfortable. Hang in there!
-
Ok nyxa. I'm going to respect your opinion and leave it at that.

also.. IUD's can poke holes in your uterus... which is a bad thing' date=' for numerous reasons.... your uterus is often part of or responsible for a lot of your orgasms.. when women have their uterus removed (hysterectomy) they often lose the ability to have an orgasm all together.. and if they do, they're often a shadow of what they used to be before they had their uterus taken out.... [/quote']
Say what? The uterus isn't responsible for orgasm.... And if women who have had a hysterectomy have problems, it's more likely a hormonal issue.

Some of my family is very against me doing this.I briefly mentioned VSG to one of my sisters. I got a very negative response. I have chosen that I won't be sharing my decision to have a VSG until AFTER it's done. I know my family love me - but I've made the decision. I believe it's an informed decision, and it's not up for discussion. It's normal that they would be concerned for you. But ultimately, only you can decide what is best for you.

. i have been conditioned that when you eat around a table you eat fast and get in as much as possible. . . .
That sounds like me! And it's worse when I get with my family - my parents cooking is SO GOOD

Maybe he's scared. You've taken a big step. You're going to lose weight. You're going to start feeling better about yourself. You're going to have more confidence. And that scares the crap out of him! It sounds (from what you say) that he needs you to be dependent on him, and now that things may be changing, he just can't deal with it. If that's the case, you're better off without him. Has he sabotaged your weight loss efforts before??

I haven't been on here for awhile so I guess it is time for an update. I was sleeved at the end of May with Dr Justin Greenslade. He is not a touchy feely kind of guy but I like him and he has an excellent reputation. No - he's not! He's very dry. But I think I got a smile during the consult
I liked him - he's very direct without being condescending. It's reassuring that you felt he was professional.
No chocolate??? Whoa that's tough
