    September 25Th Sleevers!

Crystal light I also had some clear liquid Protein drinks that were not so icky sweet. Carmex was my friend . In my hospital They had these things that were like baby wipes but bigger they called them bath wipes .Ask for some extra you can bring them home and warm them in the microwave they are heavenly. I love freely fresh and clean and the warm felt great
  2. Mine stopped I think it was the forth night. Surgery was Thursday the 13th went home Saturday. So yeah Sunday night. Take your lil pills did they give you zofran? The ones that melt under your tongue?
  3. I was sleeved on the 13th. I had very lil pain but for me the nausea was my biggest problem. They came to me about 20 hours after surgery and asked me if I wanted to go home. I thought they were nuts! I wish I had. I left the next day about noon after taking a shower. I felt sooo much better at home. I still was alike nauseas but by Saturday night I was like oh yeah I got this. Never had much pain. I did walk a lot to get rid of gas. I think that helped me a lot but don't tell my husband! I didn't want to walk but he made me! Lol I was a mean lil chick in the hospital . I didn't want any visitors and I didn't want to talk to anyone or even watch TV. Everyone is different I read way much had myself scared literally to death. Even to the point of telling my sister and husband what to do if something happened. Hell I even cleaned my closet just in case! Lol Just do what your doctor says. Listen to your body and sip sip walk walk!! Good luck! Btw no meds at all for me anymore I've lost 10 lbs. I'm glad I did it! It's normal to be scared!
  4. Depends on your bmi .. I only was on liquids for 24 hours.

  6. Your gonna rock this! Everyday you feel better and better! Get up and walk and get your butt home as soon as they will let you! You will feel sooo much better when you get home. I'll be thinking of you. I had surgery on the 13th I feel soo amazing I can't believe it. I'm off all my meds and walking everyday. Not even taking naps during the day. Well not after my second day home. I had sleep apnea and I sleep sooo good now all night. But I really think that has to do with my blood sugar. It's normal! I'm off all my meds. Down 10 pounds as of this morning. Goood luck!!
  7. Good luck ladies ! When they say get up and walk and all you want to do is sleep get up and take a walk! I am 8 days out of surgery. I feel soo much better! I walk everyday. Lurker No More

It's a great journey ! Remember the surgery is just half of the process. Jump in with both feet. I am one week out of surgery. I'm glad I did it no doubt but I am realizing more and more everyday the surgery was the easy part. I myself am learning that food was my security blanket. I hid behind it because of past issues. I have decided that I an going to go to a therapist to help me deal with some of my personal issues! I have list 10 pounds in 9 days! I am off all my meds! It's a very exciting time and I wish you the best of luck!!!

Good luck to you tomorrow!! I am doing the snoopy dance today! No more meds for me! No metformin no nothing ! Your going to do really well just walk sip and breath!!!
  10. My surgery was not sceduled until tomorrow. My doctor called me last week and was if I could move it up to last Thursday. With my juggling with my job and responsibilities it happened. I truely believe this was GODs way of getting me through the surgery. I had spent the weekend before reading a lot of everyone's post and truth be told had almost talked myself out of surgery. I went in at 11 am to forest park medical plaza in Dallas Texas. ( The Westin of all hospitals) my husband asked me If I paid for a VIP suite. The place is amazing! I was bad I was "working " till they rolled me in and knocked my butt out. Three hours later my husband said the surgeon came out saying all went well but he had found a very large hiatal hernia. I also have Barrettes easaphugus. Btw I've had no reflux at all. Popsicles don't cause reflux a guess! Not gonna lie I was not a happy camper when I woke up the nausea really sucked. I didn't have much pain to even speak of. I swear if one more person told me to get up and walk heads were gonna roll! Walking does help move the gases. I didn't have a lot of gas pains. I was pooting by the next day ( Friday) they were kinna pushing me to go home but I was self pay and I thought no way I'm staying here. Felt safer. But I soon realized Saturday when I did get home I felt so much better. I am 51 pretty tuff most of the time. This is not the easy way out so get over any of those negative thoughts. You have to walk this walk. It's all different for everyone. Yesterday I weighed myself I was like WTF 7lbs heavier then the day I went in. I was 197. But today at 530 I'm 196 they pump you with lots and lots of fluids! Sip sipsip everything is way to sweet for me. I've got to find the right protein mix advocate vanilla and orange sugar free jello teaspoon for teaspoon water and ice. And sip not to bad. Just don't drink a lot of water before or after. It gets messy. I know Tmi! Sorry for my typos. No glasses imams I'm typing from my iPhone !four days out! Oh btw. Walk walk walk
  11. Happy tears! I had my surgery last Thursday at 1 pm. My morning blood sugars had been running about 179 to 200. I was taking 1000 mg of metformin and victoza at night and another 1000 of metformin in the morning at breakfast. Today my Wake up BS was 119! Not perfect no! But that is on none.. Zero ... Nada .. Not a drop of metformin or victoza! Not to mention I just weighed myself and I'm "legally" down 5.3 pounds of real weight ( Pre-surgery) after surgery I came home with an extra 7 pounds of fluid weight which is gone as well. I started this journey because I was diagnosed with Barrett's esaphogus and diabetic have sleep apnea and depression . I lost my mom when she was only 62 (I am 51) truth be told I was scared. I am re married to the guy who was my first kiss when I was 15. (2.5 years) he is an amazing man. Very loving and giving honest but most of all knows how to handle my stubborn as*. Goodness I'm rambling here sorry.... Long story short he gave me reason to believe I deserved a longer healthier life. Today! TODAY because of one lil blood stick I see it is really possible. I think so many of us here come into having this procedure done thinking its the cure all . I just realized its mearly a tool to give me the emotional strength to take the steps to learn how to eat better and realize I deserve to live a happy and healthy life. I know my weight issues stem from a lot of different reasons. Health ... Check .. Family history ... Check... More than anything in my case it is emotional. I am going to see my endocrinologist today and get a referral to a therapist. I think it is important that I personally cover all my bases so I continue to move in the right direction! Today I am signing up for the 5 k turkey trot! Last year I walked it this year I may just trot my butt across the finish line! Thank you all for reading!! And thank you more for your support! Have a really good day! My goal today is to get down 64 oz of fluid! At least 20 oz of protein. (shiver) and to go for a nice walk. What's your goal?

    Woo Hoo I Did It!

Being scared is normal. ... Today is Tuesday and I'm feeling a whole lot better. Not great but better. Make sure you have all the things you need when you go home. Ask the hospital for a few extra "pads" that go under your hiney. Today I actually feel hungry. I know I'm not getting all my Protein. I do drink enuff Water but it has to be really really cold. I have lost 3.5 pounds. Finally below starting weight. I wish I would not crave salty crunchy food. Everything is still to sweet. Stay in touch!

  15. Hey everyone.. I cant tell you how encouraging and helpful this site is! I am really getting nervous. I go on the 12th for my pre op and the following Tuesday the 18th is my surgery. I have read and read read about do's and don't. I have stopped taking my Omega 3, no more hormone patch. ( my husband is a saint! I can't even stand myself right now) I was on Zoloft I have weaned myself off completly now. I have PTSD ( major anxiety) I am still taking my meds for this. I have Barrett's esophagus so I am still taking my Nexium. I have stopped my Cholesterol meds as well. I have purchased Advocare chocolate Protien shakes. 23 grams per serving and I actually like them! Thank goodness. I am taking off two weeks from work. Or at least I am going to try. I have been running in high gear to get everything done that I can to help my office run smoothly while I am gone. My VP called me yesterday and ask me when my surgery was again. I told him the 18th. He says will you be here on the 17th. I said umm yes I will. He said when do you think you will feel good enough to get on your computer at home after surgery? *shaking my head* I told him the following Monday I would sign on and monitor the activities of the office. He asked if I would be available by phone if needed. Im thinking to myself for goodness sakes.. Can I please just rest and not have the any stress for two weeks??? We will see how I feel. This damn stress is part of my problem to begin with! Thanks for reading. It feels good to vent and share my excitement and fears with others who understand.
  16. Thank you for the information. I am going to talk to my surgeon. From what I was told with the sleeve they are removing that part of your stomach that produces the acid with the sleeve as well. I am gonna see him next week. Thank you again.

  23. Thanks Monica for you reply and well wishes. My niece sells Avocare products and gets them at a 40% discount. That is what my doctor recommended so I went ahead and bought some. It is the only thing I have tasted and it really taste pretty good blended with ice so its really cold. Can I ask why you are in doubt about having the surgery? Today I have read to much I think! Im freaking out now because of some of the horror stories some folks have posted. lol My anxiety is high enough on it own with out reading some of the stuff. Sometime I think to much information is bad! I go see my doctor next week for pre op. I have a list of questions for him now. Thanks again for your reply.
