The sleeve is the first part of a duoedenal switch procedure, DS. You can actually have the sleeve and get the D/S later if you do not lose to your desired weight. (At least my surgeon does that) If I had opted for the DS he would have left a larger stomach because you can eat more due to the malabsorption factor and still lose quickly. For now the sleeve is working well. I am a type 2 diabetic who moved to regular insulin at the beginning of the pre op diet, I am still on it but my a1c went from 7.5 to 6 quickly. Anxious to see where it will be after 3 more months.
Good luck in whatever you decide. I had dumping 'like' symptoms on one of the new injections...I never want to experience that again...

I love ceviche any way, but I love mine the best!

I was just telling hubby that now I can order all those 'fancy' dishes that only give you a tiny bit. I would never have considered that before, worrying it wouldn't be enough to satisfy me!

I had it before my surgery but had it done with the meds because I couldn't handle the treadmill. Had it before on the treadmill. Its doable. Wear comfortable shoes. Call the dr office and ask for specifics, that way YOU have less stress. It will be worth it! Good luck.

I am eating salad at 5 weeks out. Any cooked vegs ok, too. No problems, just chew thoroughly and get in your Protein first...I do notice I get hungry quicker when I eat salad. Subway has a double chicken chopped salad where they shred your greens for you. Really good but it is at least 4 servings!

I choose the MM/light in Cafe Latte...also nice 'in' your cooled morning coffee!

I think stalls and small gains are to be expected but that seems like alot of bread (carbs)...they make you hungrier, too. I am 5 weeks out and haven't eaten bread at all...maybe six crackers total. Make sure you are getting in your fluids. No matter, you are going to lose! Don't give up and don't give in!
Good luck!

My sugars haven't leveled out either. Almost 5 weeks out. But they are better and better and I am going to have to cut back on the units because I as 79 this a.m.. I heard with vsg it can take a couple of months. With bypass nothing is absorbed so your blood sugar goes down immediately. WE WILL GET THERE. Don't give up and push the protein! Good luck!

You are beginning the journey to a new way of life! Enjoy the process. Prayers!

Good for you. Please do this for you. Unfortunately some people do not have compassion for others and cannot understand what it is like to be overweight. I too, have been overweight my entire life. It has been a factor in everything I have ever done since I was about 6 years old... I am ecstatic with a 33 lb loss and anxious for more to leave!
Come here for support. WE get ya'

My beautiful daughter had surgery a year ago. She is very near goal and looks great. She had a rocky start (gall bladder) but when she got over that she worked her sleeve and she did awesome.
When I told my husband I had an appt with her dr. He was accepting. Now that I have lost 33 lbs, he is a little excited with me to see the changes. He would love me at whatever weight, but it is nice to know he sees that I have a tool to help me do something I have wanted for so long.
He was a little freaked out after my surgery but my daughter was there with him and she knew what to expect. I had an easy time of it and he walked the halls with me faithfully! He does however eat whatever he wants and whenever he wants and it is up to me to keep myself in check.

Listen to the 'rumbly', wise words!

My hubby loves me no matter what, he has always told me 'if you have a problem with your weight, its your problem, it not a problem to me' but as I get older I need to be more fit to keep up with our 7 year old grandson who we are raising! Next year, the fair and the rides! and swimming!
But yes, he did make my day...

Bought a new pair of dress slacks yesterday, down 2 sizes... Wore them today and my husband and are walking down the hall to an appt. When we got alone in a room, he says "Baby, your butt is looking good, I mean really" He's not normally one to throw too many compliments so that made my day!

Sept 6th. Eating light. No beef yet Deli turkey, chicken, salmon, tuna. Soft vegs. No breads, starches or sugars for me. Still drinking Protein Shakes daily. Plenty of Water but missing my Protein goal I am sure. Trying chicken brocoli cheese bake tonight. Good restriction. Haven't thrown up or had much pain. Did try a bean nacho (with chip) surely my imagination but felt it scratching even after I chewed and chewed. No more chips for a while...
...And how are you doing?
Oh yeh, down 13 since surgery but 33 since pre op.

When it is all said and done, you will look back at how all the pieces fit together in His perfect timing. God has a good plan for you!

I am finding that if I will eat 'my' food (shake, etc)before I get into tthe situation...it is alot easier. I ate out the other day and had a grilled salmon at the BBQ PLACE!!! I would have never...I got a to go container and ate 3 more times on that same pc of salmon until I was scared of it and there was still 1/3 left! Sure enjoyed the company and the music, too!
You can do this, but I get emotional sometimes too. Like ending a love affair...lol!

Ok....you asked....
Any "religion" that centers on man and man's power and ability is destined to fail.
The one true God of the Bible, who is the sovereign of the universe is the only one worthy of praise and glory. And that is our purpose. To glorify God. It is HIS wrath we are under, and He has gifted us with the answer to that problem through the Lord Jesus Christ because he loves us. God is not a power hungry ogre just waiting to cast us into Hell. He is perfect love and joy waiting with outstretched arms for us to answer His call.
We are not banging our fists on the gates of Heaven, wanting to be let in, yet He is keeping us at bay, instead... We are all running as fast and as hard as we can straight for Hell, but in His divine sovereignty and love he stops this one, and this one, and that one, turning us to Him and welcoming us into His family and Kingdom in eternal splendor. That's where I am.
I may have never been quite so vocal on this site about this subject, so I may lose friends, but... that's what I think and feel about it. The Holy Spirit confirms this in my soul.
Thank you so much for your eloquent response. You spoke my heart and faith! I pray this thread will continue to be open and loving and that each person can express their views in an attitude of acceptance.

I lost 20 lbs. on 10 day pre op but I had done my 'world tour of favorite foods' the weeks before! Kissed them good bye for a while.
I think I am only down 11 lbs since surgery 9/6 but really can tell it in my clothes.
So I think we may lose slower but it will all even out eventually.
Congrats and good luck. I had no complications and I am 56 with 3 co morbities. (soon to be none)

There is a thread on here about Bougies. I think they range from 28-54? Most use 34 36, my dr uses a 40. I have had no complications and I had a hiatal hernia and lots of strictures from previous gall bladder surgery. Losing steady since 9/6, about 4 lbs a week. (I lost 20 in the two weeks before surgery so I am not losing as quickly but I am satisfied) I start eating real food this week but not too excited about it.
Do it!
