I am so glad that I am not the only one. I am 4 weeks post op and at work I am freezing, wrapped in two blankets and even turning up the heat at home! (I like the house at 67 -honestly, now I am cranking it to 70)

Jealousy is huge when one person is doing an amazing job and the next is NOT. My mom who knew about my surgery and "supported" me turned on me when someone said: "Your daughter looks good Gina." Mom- yeah well she had weight loss surgery!
THAT is jealousy and it's such a nasty nasty thing that can hurt a lot of people.
Just remember that you did something great for yourself, you SAVED your own life by choosing to get healthy and happy. Don't let the haters rain on your parade!
Keep up the amazing work!

Wow that's a long time on liquids! I had 1 week before and 2 weeks after on liquid. 2 weeks puree and 2 weeks smushy.
I did cheat also! My hubby was very grumpy but it was worth it!
I did a puree with (noodle/meat/veggie/cream of mushroom) with milk and I felt like I was revived into life (not feeling starving) I didnt care I cheated, I felt great. not sure how much I ate but it was a spoon full of food then pureed.
Good luck with your journey!

First congrats on your 50 pound loss! I am only 10 days out, but was told that on average people are saying it's about 10 pounds a month for the first 5 months.
After that I was told to re-eval your eating habits and make sure to get Protein first to stay fuller longer and make sure liquid calories are not being taken in.
Good luck on your journey!

I am 10 days out and only have an issue if I take a big gulp, then it takes a bit to go down and hurts a bit.

I had my surgery on the 19th (open procedure) went home on on the 23rd. Went to Barns and Noble to grab a book I had on hold on the 24th, my hubby drove. I Drove on the 26th for a little bit, would say to wait a week and still have a small pillow to rest on at stop lights.
Good luck

I am on day 10 and I completely understand what you are going though. I have been adding in some unflavored Protein powder to my apple juice/water mix, gatorade/water mix, and some to my Tomato Soup or broth.
I have been getting slight charlies in my calves, adding the banana and making it really juicy sounds like my plan for tonight.
Hang tight, I hope you can make it through I know how hard it is!

This is only day 7 for me!
-I confess I hate my husband who is eating pizza and subs when I am on liquids!
-I confess I turn the tv channel when food commercials come on because I am so hungry.
-I confess I let am M&M melt in my mouth after my husband went to bed last night. (He ate popcorn and M&M's)
-I confess that I want to cheat on my 2 week liquids and start puree tomorrow, I just might, -ugh.
-I confess that I am so so sore and in pain a lot. I almost, almost wish I didn't do this. (I know that will change when I am feeling better but my open procedure it taking a lot out of me!

It's very important to talk to your doctor about your before and after treatment. It is so important. Mine gave me a binder of information!

So I am wondering about the pain that comes along with the open style surgery. I seem to be in severe pain dependent on my pain meds to function after surgery.
Today is day 7. How long does this pain last?

Good luck! No worries, get a good night sleep and report back as soon as the surgery is over! Excited for you!!
-
Hi guys! I have Dr. Kemmerling and live in Green Bay! I was banded in September 2009 an am having it removed this Friday, then 6week wait for a sleeve, maybe!
Excited to have someone close to talk to!!!!
-
I also have the same insurance with the same requirements. When I first got banded it took only three days for the approval. I am having it removed and that also took three days for the approval. They are putting mine through insurance this week so Iam assured w/in a week or two it would be good to go.
WITH THAT I would say w/in a week or two they should have word. With your 2 comorbities you should be good to go.
Good luck!!!!!!! Keep us posted and add us as friends if you need anyone to talk to.
