  1. @newgrandmother, hey fellow September sleever!!! I am so glad I am not alone. I have been having the same issues with myself. I haven't lost weight in the last few months and I THINK I'm still doing ok, but I have come to this conclusion. I have lost approximately 140 lbs since I started my journey, that's a whole person!!! Not wishing this on myself but if I don't lose any more weight I'm happy with where I am now. I am more aware of my eating habits and I wouldn't have loss that much weight on my own.

So I guess I'm saying don't give up, just hang in there. Our 1 year is approaching fast and I know you feel better now than you did a year ago, I know I do.

Keep up the great work that you have done so far and never give up on yourself, YOU GOT THIS GIRL!!!!!

  2. I tried them with shrimp and I couldn't get over the rubbery taste. I brought mine at Safeway for 2 bucks. If you like calamari than you will like these noodles. Mine didn't have a smell but they did have a grayish tint to them. You have to rinse them off really well.

  3. I am post op and I have the same problem. I had surgery on 9-12-12 and I had only gone #2 once since then before I had to go to the hospital. I usually go everyday (pre op) but now I hardly go. I had to have enemas, suppositories and mag citrate and I only went after 4 days in the hospital. I have gone twice since coming home, but now I don't worry like I did before. I have to take colace everyday and make sure that I get Fiber in.

  4. What exactly is 3 or 4 spoonfuls? Are you measuring your food? I eat 4-5 small meals a day. Depending on what the food is anywhere from 2-4 ounces. I am not hungry with the exception sometimes first thing in the morning but you have to eat. You should also be drinking at least 64 ounces of Water a day.

My spoonfuls are just teaspoons, and yes I measure my food out. I usually only have maybe 2 ounces at a time but I find it hard to keep down. I have been to the doctor's and we didn't find anything like a leak or obstruction. How far are you out and did you have this type of problem at 1 month?

  5. Question? I am 1 month and 1 week post op and I just can't eat. I am on regular foods now and I can only eat maybe 3 -4 spoonfuls and that's it. Is the normal for the most of us and the stage after surgery.

I also just recently got out of the hospital after 4 days due to a very low potassium. The entire time I was in there I didn't eat. The only things I ate were some peaches and oatmeal and 1 cup of coffee. Please shed some light on this for me because I am lost and worried.

  6. Actually I do have some questions for you. How was your process with your insurance company?

Actually I do have some questions for you. How was your process with your insurance company?

Sorry took so long for me to respond but I didn't have any problems with my insurance company. I never had to contact them at all. I just made the first initiate call asking if they cover the surgery. After that my doctor's office made the request. After I completed my six month weight management class the doctor sent in my request and in a week I had a yes, 2 weeks and 1 day later I had my surgery. PS I have Carefirst BC/BS.

  7. Hiya! Sorry I'm so late, but yes, I love Dr. Tran, and I've been to two support groups at HUH. If you haven't, definitely come to the one in October. Dr. Tapscott and Alfreda are having a behavioral psychologist come and talk to us about dealing with the holidays, and since this is my first set after being sleeved, I REALLY am kind of freaking out, because my fam is still freaked out about my sleeve.

@Tinfoil, No I haven't been to a support meeting but was curious about one. I was in the office today for my 1 month post op and another lady was there asking about the support group this month. I and seriously thinking about going especially with the holidays coming and be being a fresh post op I will definitely have concerns. The only thing that I didn't like about the whole process were the residents. OMG I had to explain my whole life story twice, but they were all so pleasant and willing to listening before judging, the whole group is just wonderful. Maybe I'll see you at the October meeting. Not sure yet, but I'm thinking!!

  8. Hello All, I am 3 weeks post op and I still can't seem to keep things down. I have tried things like, mashed potatoes, Jello, yogurt, refried Beans, scrambled egg beaters, cheese and nothing seems to work for me. I can't even handle the Protein Shakes. When I do eat it likes my sleeve is to small to handle the food going down. I can feel the food going slowly down my throat. Then it just sits there, then 5 minutes later, I'm running to the bathroom. I have read people talking about the size of the "bougie" their doctor used. I don't know which one mine used so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I have a appointment on the 8th and I am the type of person that doesn't like to keep bothering physician's with a bunch of calls and problems. I do drink but just not the required amount that I should be drinking. It's just hard and I feel frustrated that I am going to start having complications. I don't have the strength or energy to do much at home. I do try to continue doing the things I did before surgery but the eating and drinking is just the problem for me. Any suggestion would be helpful and thanks for listening. And I have tried all types of the Protein shakes. I just ordered the Unjury shakes so maybe they will help me more when I get them. Thanks!!

  9. Hey can u msg me who did your surgery and where r u from. Trying to help my mom she is 500 and wants HELP BAD!!! We gotta find someone tht can and will do her surgery. Thanks for any input on this matter. She really needs it. She can hardly do for her self.

    GOD is Able!!!

Hi, I dont know if you were talking to me but, Dr Tran did my suegery at Howard University in Wash DC. He was excellent. Hope this helped!

  10. In my personal experience for the 1st week I was clear, next 2 weeks full liquids. Now I am on to the soft mushie stage. I have been having problems with eating. I have tried egg beaters and that seemed to leave my chest feeling heavy. I can't seem to eat the yogurt. I can tolerate oatmeal, cream of wheat, applesauce and sf fudge pop. Just true to hold off a few more weeks before trying to eat "real food" because we have to get to learn our new sleeve as it has to learn the new you. Believe me if you do cheat now, you will definately not cheat again. Good luck!

  11. Hey Amanda, when I started my journey back in Oct 2012, I was 489. I was sleeved Sept 12, 2012 and I am now 419. It has been a hard road since surgery since I can't seem to get enough fluids or Protein in, but would I do it again, YES. This was the best decision that I could have made for myself. Right now it's rocky but I know things will turn around. Good luck with everything you do!! Keep us posted.
