VitaleEM reacted to Looking Ahead in Down 100 Lbs Today ! :)
I just weighed and I am down 100 lbs as of today. I am so excited and emotional all at the same time. I still need to lost another 48-50 for my first goal of 190 but I would like to stop at 170 . I can see this happening by Spring of this next year. My weight goes up and down and is very tiring on my will power but days like today make it all worth it.
Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement . Oh and I ordered my first ever pair of boot last night !

If I'm going out for any length of time, I always pack a bottle of Muscle Milk Lite in a cooler bag...along with a couple 20oz bottles of Water. On days when I have class, I pack lunch with me, because my class ends right at noon, and its a long drive home...I eat before heading home, to make sure I don't "crash" on the way (literally and figuratively!). Eating out is no problem...I order lean Protein, and some non-starchy veggies, and take home lots of left-overs! Thanks for the list, Chad...it includes all the guidelines I received from my surgeon!

I have really been wondering about this. I'm only 5 weeks out, but I've been on vacation for a week and have been eating in a lot of restaurants; Soup, fresh grilled fish, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. I almost dread meal time. Eating is not. "fun " anymore. It is more of a chore. Drinking is fine and no big deal. This may sound sick, but I hope it lasts. I'm tired of my life being ruled by food.< /p>

Yes, I am the same with things being far too sweet. And with having days where really nothing appeals. One morning last week I loitered in the kitchen for about ten minutes, unable to decide what I wanted for Breakfast. I realised I had to have something but I wanted nothing! After much gazing in the fridge and pantry I had chicken noodle Soup for breakfast. My husband ate his Cereal and just shook his head laughing at me. It was quite literally the only thing I could stomach.

I didn't feel the full effect until I started eating solid foods. Even now I can eat more squishy soft foods and don't feel much restriction... But when I eat solid I do. 6 months out today

Trust me me and a lot of others felt the same way I'm 3.5 weeks out now and the first real food was pork tenderloin and up until then I questioned if they even did anything to me other than put holes. But a bite and a half of tenderloin and
I was done liquids and mushys don't do it but solids will show you.

Thanks all for responding to this. Im having pain on my right side as well. It feels like i may be doing too much. I went back to work two weeks after surgery and i try to walk five minutes every hour. Even if i sit at my desk wrong it hurts. It feels like my body woiuld rather be stretched out than sitting in front of a desk. Im sure it will get better.

I was actually enjoying that as it was a deterrent for me. It does, however come back. Anethesia has that effect for a while as well as ketosis. I was happy that chocolate tasted weird to me. Now it tastes as glorious as ever. I don't know whether to be happy about that or not!

Some of what you say is correct, but this right here is wrong. I'm sorry but even the link YOU posted earlier contradicts this statement. You will be more hungry eating 1-2 larger meals per day. Eating smaller, more frequent meals will prevent you from becoming as hungry because your tank always has fuel in it. When you eat a big meal and then wait too long before eating again, the tank runs out.
Plus, as I said earlier, WHAT you eat has something to do with it as well....in fact it plays a huge role. High glycemic foods will cause the production and release of more insulin into the blood stream. Larger meals cause even more insulin to be released to bring down the excess blood sugar. As your blood sugar comes back down, you will feel hungry again.
Smaller meals (with lower glycemic foods) do not cause your blood sugar to spike, therefore you do not have the huge release of insulin.

My nutritionist also suggested a meatball for the mushy stage. mash it up real good with a little sauce. You can enjoy like everyone else, just eat really slow. Good luck!

Kaiser Fremont recommendations were 3 months for caffeine and 6 months for alcohol (following a good report at the 3 and 6 month check up). I followed their guidelines because my motto is better safe than sorry. I could not drink acidic drinks at first, but now at more than 18 months out, I drink whatever I please and it doesn't bother me. I started with port wine, regular wines and liqueurs, such as Kahlua.
