    November 5Th Sleevers?

Yeah! Me too. This time next week, we will be sleeved!
  2. I've been doing so good on the pre op diet with one shake in am, salad with protein at lunch and shake in PM. I just re-read my pre op instructions and this last week is full liquids only. Sure hope I can keep my resolve on only liquids. Especially on Halloween!

    Before Pics

Good thing for us shorties 10 pounds feels like 20 off. I've lost 10 lbs on the pre op diet so far and already have a lil less pain. Looking forward to dropping it all too so I can play with my kids again instead of just observing.

    V C Filter?

Good good. Glad you looked into it. I know this is good info for people to have. I knew there were less risks then the permanent ones, but wasn't sure exact figures. I was going to ask the IR docs at work today, but totally forgot. They do a lot of these filters now for people who still have DVTs in their legs after diagnosis of Pulmonary embolism. So, they have lots of practice placing and removing them. I'm sure you will be in good hands.

    Pre Op Diet Started Today

I'm on day 7 of the pre op diet. My headache lasted for 5 days. But it is good now. Now that everything bad is out if my system, my hunger isn't bad. I feel great. I've been doing salad with chicken at lunch instead of evening. I would love to try broccoli instead. I hope you all have an easy go of it. I am surprised how OK I am with this pre op diet. Glad I decided to do the whole 2 weeks instead of just the last 5 days as required. I would hate to go into surgery still having the headaches! We can do this!

    V C Filter?

Have either of you looked into risk factors of having the filter placed?

    Unjury

Ok, so I forgot to pack milk the other day. I went to Starbucks and ordered a short FF steamed milk with sugar free vanilla flavoring. I mixed it with Unjury chocolate splendor. It was so good, I almost felt guilty. The pre op diet shouldn't be this easy! Also, I mixed the strawberry sorbet with Fage fat free plain yogurt. It was really really good as well. I do t usually like chocolate or strawberry protein shakes, so I was surprised by these. Glad I bought the sample pack. Also, I tried the steamed milk with syntrax nectar choc truffle and that was really good too. Hope I still like these after.

    V C Filter?

They didn't used to have IVC filters that are removable, but they do now, so that's nice.

    Prayers Please

Just a note, from someone in imaging. Just because we can't see a reason for pain, it doesn't mean there is not pain. Your doc may not know what to do to make you feel better if all the tools he has to check say everything is normal. If he checked for a leak, hernia and abscess, I don't know what other things happen after surgery. You said your amylase was elevated. Is your lipase elevated too? Pancreatitis hurts like crazy. And also can be cause by GB stones sometimes. I really hope things get figured out for you soon. It really couldn't hurt to see a different doctor. Maybe they will have a different approach.

    This Is Hard...

I went to the library to check out books on emotional eating and whatnot. I am not sure if I have this problem or not. Usually after the 5 days or so of sugar withdrawals, I am fine unless I tell myself one bite won't hurt. Cause, for me, I know the first bite will not be the last. I have come to the acceptance that that is how things need to be for me. I don't know I you share similar issues with the first bite or not. Some people don't. I don't know if you have a food addiction or not. I didn't even know if I had it. But I thought some books on the subject might shed some light either way. Best wishes on your journey.

    V C Filter?

DVT = Deep venous thrombosis. The filter is placed to prevent any clots in the legs from breaking off and traveling to the lungs. I could see this as a pre op option for someone with a clotting factor, but standard pre op seems excessive. I would ask their thought process on it for you if it doesn't make sense to you.

    Bad Multivitamin!

This is the first time I've heard something positive about the BA vanilla Vitamins. I bought cinnamon ones. I made my son try them. He said it was fine as a lozenge but really gross when he chewed it. I requested samples and they sent a bunch, but I got them right before my two week cut off for vitamins, so I have only tasted one (vanilla). I didn't like it. I think it won't be difficult to take Flinstones since they taste good.
  17. I was told before I paid my deposit what the rules were for getting any money back if surgery was cancelled by me or by my surgeon. Actually, I had to initial it and send it back. People go Into things sometimes and sign whatever without thinking it through. Going into it, No one thinks they are going to back out. I made sure once I heard this and ended up switching surgeons before I ever gave a deposit. Though, my first surgeons office keeps calling even though I called and cancelled in August only a few days after I scheduled it.
  18. There is a big difference between what they charge insurance and what insurance actually pays. For example, I had an amnio once and the hospital charged 7,000, but ins said they are only allowed to charge 2,200, so less than 1/3 is what they got paid. That being said, they can charge a self pay more because there is no one telling them they can't. At one of the hospitals that I work for the self pay cost was 24,000 and you still have to jump all the hoops, some of which will be covered if you have a reason to get it other than "pre op". The outpatient clinic I contacted was 22,000. That includes 0 days in the hospital. And still the hoops. I opted to schedule with Dr Garcia in Mexico for 4700. Hopefully that will work out OK.

What Are You Most Looking Forward To?

Buying petite pants and not having to roll them up. For some reason stores think width goes with height.

Salad Mid Day Instead Of Evening....

I wish I was allowed a nut, so I would know how many calories I should be consuming.
  22. Will it matter if I do my salad for lunch instead of dinner on my pre op diet? I think it would be easier for me.
  23. I've been doing my pre op diet for two days. I decided to enter it into 'my fitness pal'and it totaled under 500 calories. Is that right? I am using the Syntrax Nectar packages. The AM mixed with milk and the PM one mixed with Water. Then salad with low cal low fat dressing and 2 oz chicken breast. My pre op instructions say salad with Protein, but not how much.
  24. sunshyneqtie

    How Many Calories Pre Op?

Ok. I thought it seemed like not quite enough calories. I shouldn't be obsessing. I'm not required to start this diet til Oct 30th, but I wanted to prove to myself I could do this before surgery. Thanks for the reply!
