  1. Hey all! Hope everyone is doing great - I'm on all liquids until Dec 5th and looking forward to soft foods.

Wondering if any of you are having diarrhea? I have had it for three days now - called dr. today and he told me to take florastar and Imodium so I thought I'd share that info in case anyone else is having the same problem. Also, if you're able to eat yogurt yet, he said Activia is good for this problem as well.

Down 17 since surgery. Keep up the good work everyone!

  2. Surgery is scheduled in less than a week and I have a terrible case of the "what ifs"! Not about the surgery but about after and all the changes physically and mentally. So much to think about....

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Good luck and congrats to all the Novembers!

As soon as mine got scheduled, I got super nervous and almost psyched myself out. As the day got closer, I got more and more calm. Just be positive. :)

  3. For those of us who have been sleeved this month' date=' how is your weightloss going? I am 8 days post op today and have lost 5 lbs. Truthfully, I thought it would be more, as I weighed myself 5 days post op and was the same loss of 5lbs! I'm not eating hardly anything at all - I am trying. Just wondering if anyone wants to chime in on this.:)[/quote']

I was sleeved on the 14th and since surgery, I've lost 12 pounds. Down a total of 29 since starting this process, I just hope it keeps coming off! Cannot wait to be under 200 pounds.

  4. Don't worry. I'm 5 weeks out and barely ever got in the suggested amount of fluids that first week. Just do what you can and DON'T STRESS. Every time I drank an ounce of broth I felt like I drank a gallon. I never really had a desire to drink anything and couldn't even drink my liquid meds at first which was the only real problem since pain is no fun. It will get easier. You will eventually get hungry and want the broth. Good luck!

Thank you!! I needed to hear this. :)

  5. I got home yesterday. Surgery was good and my pain has been relatively low. It's just sore. I was so nauseous after my swallow test Thursday. I didn't want to go home. Happy I am home now. Had a full nights worth of sleep in my bed propped up with pillows! Still have lots of gas. It's annoying but not very painful. Hope everyone is doing well!!!

My incisions were sealed up with dissolving stitches and surgical glue. Anyone else have that? Had no drain. Was happy about that!

My incisions were also sealed with glue - it's awesome! My Doctor says it's so much easier this way.

  6. I had my one week post op appt with the doctor today. I had to laugh because I asked him if he was sure he did it because I feel really good. I think during the first week (for those of us that have an way go of it) you have monumental advances ( ie day 2 felt horrible and I think it is because your stomach and throat are so swollen from the procedure). Day 3 for me was "return to normal day"... Took a shower, ran errands, did laundry but was tired by the end of the day. Day 4 was a repeat of day 3. By Monday I was back at work and my old self. Somewhere between Monday and Wednesday the getting liquids down like normal just happened. I starting with sipping slowly and often. For me a cup with straw helped but they caution you about straws and getting to much aIr. Not sure but it seems to work for me. I drink as much as I can until that feeling a fullness starts and then stop right away. I start back up about 20 minutes later.

Some other notables from my post op meeting with the doc. I told him I was gave my Proteins and even managing to get Greek yogurt down. He told me to hold off on the soft foods until week 2. People have popped staples with yogurts, grits etc. he said if you can't get something easily through a straw, you shouldn't have it until week two. Of course the sarcastic side of me thought "well if I put my mind to it I could probably suck a Reese's Peanut Butter cup through a straw if I wanted to" but you get the point. Too much hard work has gone into this for us to potentially bring on a complication. Go at your own pace and in the next couple of days you are going to be shocked that you can get liquids down much faster. I was. Look forward to hearing from all of you soon. Happy healing,

    I hope this is me!

  7. There is a board of official things you should pack, but I'll tell you what I'm bringing too. :)

    • Robe (I heard you'll want one to walk around the hall so you're not just walking in just your gown)
    • Comfy clothes to go home with
    • Meds/Vitamins
    • Binder (I don't know if you have one, but my Dr. gave me a binder I've been carrying for this whole process - it's where I keep all my info, receipts, etc.)
    • iPad & Charger
    • iPhone & Charger
    • Chapstick
    • Protein shake (i'm very picky so I'm bringing my own Protein Shakes so I don't have to eat the hospital ones)
    • Undergarments
    • Blanket (I'm bringing this so I can be a little more comfy sleeping in the hospital)

I figure if I'm forgetting anything, the hubby can bring it by. LOL Let me know if you guys are bringing anything else. So excited!!!!

  8. For me' date=' once I hit day 4 and 5, I was over the hunger. It's mind over matter - just try and stay busy, go to sleeve earlier. I cleaned out my cupboards and my closet and went shopping for smaller clothes and it helped make me look forward and not think about the diet.[/quote']

Lol and my go to "sleeve" earlier, I meant sleep :)

Can you tell what's on my mind?
