Weight Loss Stalls?
Hey All, Just wondering at what weeks you experienced your first weight loss stalls? I know it happens to everyone, but I'm about 3 1/2 weeks out and have not lost anything this week. I was sleeved on Sept 14th and have lost 35 pounds so far which is great, don't get me wrong I'm not complaining. I'm just seeing what it is like for everyone and if anyone else had one this early. I'm wondering if it could be because I started more solid food this week?

Any September People
I took 4 weeks off work. While I only have an office job I've never had surgery before. I needed the time to heal becuase my job can be very stressful. Trying to heal and be stressed out about work would just lead to me getting sick and that is a big no no right now. Plus, my Dr. recommended it. I do feel like I could have gone back after about 2 weeks, I just get tired so easily. I went to my cardiologist on Friday and he took me off my blood pressure medication becuase it was too low! I've never had that issue of it being to low! I am not able to get in protein, only about 40 a day and maybe hitting 400 calories a day. I'm working up on it everyday though. It's a lot harder, but the results are what matters, our health is what matters. I have a lot to go still. About 180 pounds I want to lose, but would be happy with another 150 which is what my Dr would also be happy with. Good luck on your blood work

Any September People
I had surgery on the 14th and so far so good. I only had to stay one night in the hospital and haven't had any problems. I was sore the first few days, but I slept proped up on the couch with my feet on an ottoman. I have a very tall king size bed so it was impossible for me to even try to get in it. I had my first follow up yesterday and it went great. I was walking the day of surgery, they didn't take my cath out until right before I was going to be discharged, then I had to pee a certain amount before they would let me go, which I had no problems doing. I did have a drain and when they pulled it out it felt like a worm was crawling across my belly under my skin, weirdest thing ever! Everyone is different and reacts different to the surgery. I was nervous becuase I had never had surgery before. Mine took about an hour, I was worried becuase I am a lot bigger than a lot of people I've known to have this surgery. But I"m doing great and already down 33 pounds! Monday I get to start semi-solid foods! So anyone who just had surgery or is about to, hang in there, once you get past the pain you will see how much it is worth it. I was second guessing my decision right until i was rolled into the OR and the next few days after. But now 2 weeks later I know it was the best decision of my life

San Diego Dr's?
Hey Everyone! Sorry I hadn't responded until now. I've been since surgery. I had a great surgery experience. I was sleeved on Sept 14th and was home by noon on the 15th. I had no coomplications and the care I received at Scripps Green was great! I am about 2 1/2 weeks out and alrady lost 33 pounds. I had my first follow up yesterday with Dr. Fuller and the dietician Janet Nash. They are both really great, very helpful. I am on pureed foods, but starting next week I was given the ok to go to stage 4, and start some solids. I did have to get the unfalvored Protein powder becuase I am having a hard time getting protein in. The shakes just make my stomach hurt at the smell of them. I have tried so many and they all do the same thing. Other than that I'm doing great, haven't had any issues. Which is surprising because of everything I read its not uncommon to have some issues. Hope everyone is doing well Keep me updated on your journey!!

Preop Diet Starts Tomorrow....
I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet, I had to do 5 days since my surgery is Friday. Day one was super hard, not going to lie. Today seems to be easier until someone in the office made popcorn! You just have to stay strong and keep the big picture in mind I have been using the premier protein shakes from costco in chocolate and find they keep me pretty full. I've just been having something to drink every hour on the hour.. I stocked up on powerade zero, diet snapple, sugar free jello and Popsicle and of course lots of water! How long is your pre-op diet for?

Pcos And Surgery A Few Days Away
hey Everyone! I am very optimistic that getting sleeved is going to help my pcos. I have had troubles with it since I was a teenager and I am now 29! I have about 200 pounds to lose, prior to considering the sleeve it has been a struggle to even lose 5 pounds. I have been on metformin and it helped me lose about 20 pounds but then again stopped working. I am hoping that I won't have any difficulties with the surgery. I get sleeved this Friday the 14th! What have been other's success? I have a lot to lose weight wise, but so much to gain health and life style wise. I want to have children in a few years, I am a newly wed and neither me or my husband have any children. I am hoping that this surgery is going to get me where I need to be! Good luck to everyone on their amazing journey! I look forward to hearing other's success/thoughts/issues with the surgery and PCOS. Thanks!! Carly

Surgery Date Sept. 17 What Are You Doing To Prepare
Your surgery is just a few days after mine! I am scheduled for the 14th, so Friday! Did your Dr put you on a liquid diet at all? I have been on one since Sunday. I haven't really started getting nervous yet, more excited to go through the process! I am in the midst of moving a week after surgery so my home is full of boxes right now. For my Protein Drink, I actually like Muscle Milk light and Premier Protein the best. Both low sugar and carbs, musle milk light only has 20 rams of protein where premier protein has 30. I have read more good results then bad and stories about success. It is scary when you think about what you are actually putting your body though. But it will be worth it! Especially since you have children! I don't have any yet, I have PCOS and its very hard to conceive. I am a newly wed and my husband and I really want to have children some day, and I think this surgery will help make it happen. Not any time soon, but in hte future. Just hang in there, and it will be over before you know it! I can't believe my day is almost here! Good luck and just keep thinking of all the positives that you will see after the surgery

Cigna Approved Me!
WIth my plan they only required a 3 month visit with nutritionist. From my experience and what my insurance contact at the Dr office told me Cigna is actually good for approving, just as long as they have all the paperwork needed because they do deny for the littlest things. Mine was approved on the first try and I had a lot of extra stuff that way needed for approval, just different approvals from different dr's. I did have an *** with cigna and was nervous because I always thought ***'s were difficult to get WLS approved through.

Preop Cardiologist Check Up - High Blood Pressure
You will be fine I too went through what you are going through, I have high blood pressure and a high heart rate. I had to go through cardiology before my dr would submit my insurance. I had to have an EKG, wear a 24 hour heart monitor and have an echo cardiogram done. In the end everything turned out fine, They put me on beta blockers until surgery, but I can still have surgery, In fact my surgery is this Friday the 14th. So it won't stop you from having it, they would just rather be safe then sorry and make sure your heart can hold up during surgery

Cigna Approved Me!
I was approved through Cigna as well. Mine was approved pretty quick, I think once my Dr submitted it I was approved in about 4 days. Prior to my insurance approval they allowed me to tenatively schedule my surgery. It wasn't etched in stone, but as long as nobody else requested that date it was mine. By the time my insurance approved it was still available. So once my insurance approved my surgery was only a few weeks out. The process seemed really fast and easy with Cigna. Now I am a week out from surgery. I only have a 5 day pre-op liquid diet that I start Sunday since surgery is a week from today. Monday I go to the hospital to do all the pre-op blood work and pre-register and all that stuff. I guess how fast you get scheduled depends on your doc and what else they have you do before surgery. Good luck

Success With PCOS
I've noticed this topic hasn't been replied to in awhile. I am new to this site, I am having surgery on the 14th of this month and also have PCOS. I just wanted to know how others were doing now that it has been some time. Has your PCOS gotten better or maybe completely gone away?

Who Are You?
My name is Carly, I'm 28 about to be 29 in a few days. I live in San Diego California and love it! I have been married for about 11 months and have had the best/worst past year possible. Two months ago my mother passed away very unexpected and it gave me the extra push I needed to have this surgery done. I have been overweight my entire life. However, I am very active I do boxing/kickboxing at a boxing gym where they train professional MMA fighters and the coaches I work with are world champions or ex-NFL players. I also have PCOS which makes loosing weight hard and having a child almost impossible. I am at the point where I need to do this now, get healthy once and for all not only for me, but for my husband and future children. My husband is very fit, and never had a weight issue. He is very supportive of me, he was the one I was most scared to tell because to him he thinks losing eight should be easy! But we all know for us, it's not.My Best friend had the Sleeve a few months ago and has had great success, even though we live in difference states she is still been such a good reference guide for me. My husband and I have a dog, she is about 2 1/2 years old and is a basset hound, poodle, schnauzer mix. Sounds so different, but she is the cutest thing ever! She gets attention wherever we go and loves people! She is our baby for now I am about 3 weeks away from my surgery and am very excited to start the next chapter and new journey of my life!Hopefully to meet others along this journey that can be my support as well. I want to loose 200 pounds, but would be happy with 175 pounds lost.
