  1. hey Everyone! I am very optimistic that getting sleeved is going to help my pcos. I have had troubles with it since I was a teenager and I am now 29! I have about 200 pounds to lose, prior to considering the sleeve it has been a struggle to even lose 5 pounds. I have been on metformin and it helped me lose about 20 pounds but then again stopped working. I am hoping that I won't have any difficulties with the surgery. I get sleeved this Friday the 14th! What have been other's success? I have a lot to lose weight wise, but so much to gain health and life style wise. I want to have children in a few years, I am a newly wed and neither me or my husband have any children. I am hoping that this surgery is going to get me where I need to be! Good luck to everyone on their amazing journey! I look forward to hearing other's success/thoughts/issues with the surgery and PCOS. Thanks!! Carly

    San Diego Dr's?

Hello Has anyone has Dr Fuller out of Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego? My surgery is Sept 14th, just a few days away and was wondering who else may have had him and what was your experience!

    Any One Is San Diego?

  4. I can't believe it's already a year since my surgery. I love my results thus far, I still want to lose and it has gotten a lot tougher now that I am past the year mark. 144 pounds down so far and don't regret a single moment of this journey First pic day of surgery, 2nd pic was taken Sunday

A year out! Pic included :)

Thank again everyone for your kind words, you know how to make a girl feel good about herself. As far as my stats, they are on my profile so please check there and on my signature hair loss, I had it mostly within the first 6 months. I had thicker hair to begin with and there were times it was coming out in handfuls when I would wash it. It never got to a point where others noticed, other than my hair dresser. I did everything, Vitamins, Biotin, but biotin only helps with regrowth not the prevention of falling out. Now my hair is growing back, This is awful! Not that is coming back but the fact I have a head full of new baby hair that is untamable! LOL. I can't wear my hair back otherwise I look like I got electrocuted, I have fly aways and I don't want to put gel or anything in it because it makes my ears stick out hahaha. My skin I haven't had any skin issues, yes i have a lot of excess skin, but I knew that was going to happen with how much I have to lose. But I would rather have excess skin that can be hidden with body smoothers then be where I was anyday!

A year out! Pic included :)

Thank you everyone It's amazing what a year of hard work can do! I too had my struggles through out, but now looking back I think we go through struggles to help us really appreciate our results.
  7. I am a year out from surgery, when I first had surgery I had PCOS and had never had a regular cycle. Within a month of surgery i got my first cycle on my own and it was the worst I have ever had. I thought something has to be wrong, bleeding this bad, I felt like I couldn't even stand up I was so weak... It lasted over a week. The next month my cycle was completely normal. Now a year out every 28 days I have a cycle, it only lasts about 3-4 days and usually the 2nd day is fairly heavy, but not like the first real period i had after surgery. So hopefully it gets better for you... As far as the problem with your # 2, if you are only having liquid, its going to come out liquid.. liquid in liquid out... Enjoy it while you can because the further you get in recovery pooping seems like an exciting thing because it doesn't happen often and can be more difficult :-/

    Crazy to think....

Aww thanks Kathy We are all truly blessed to be on this new journey
  9. Yesterday I turned 30 years old... it's so crazy to think that at the age of 30 I am the healthiest I have EVER been. I even think back to elementary school when I was in 6th grade wearing a size 12. I am not 30 and wearing a size 11 in juniors!!! This has got to be the most unbelievable feeling. Not only do I feel amazing, but my life has had so many positive changes over the past year that at times its hard to believe that this is my new life! My sleeve not only changed my life, but saved it! I am so grateful that I have had this opportunity.

    "You're losing too much weight"

You will get that from time to time. What I have found, is that I went from being 366 pounds and am right now sitting around 224 in about 11 months, for everyone else around us who doesn't see us all the time its such a drastic change that they do think we look a lot skinnier than we actually are. I have had people tell me not to lose anymore.. I'm 5'5 and 224 is not where I want to be at.... I know its hard but try not to look too much into it. Losing a large amoutn of weight in a small amount of time not only makes you look at yourself in different ways but others as well. DO what makes you happy, until your Dr tells you that you are loosing too much weight, keep doing what you are doing.

    Wonton wrappers!

I found them at a store called Sprouts. Not sure if you have them, it is a wholefood type store. They were near their bagels and things like that. I would ask a local store if they carry them. I have heard you can get them at Wal-Mart. I couldn't find them at mine.

    Wonton wrappers!

I've used them, but have found that I like flatout bread better. I found it at a local organic store called sprouts. They have 2 kinds big wraps and a smaller foldable one. I use half of one and its about 7.5 carbs with some lunch meat and cheese... or I have even made pizzas with them, some sauce, cheese and meat... I use it with egg salad.... I use to use won ton wrappers for a lot and even did cupcake bakes with them.. still do occasionally. I have used wonton wrappers for burger cupcakes, bbq chicken cupcakes, hawaiian cupcakes, google won ton cupcakes and you will find a slew of recipes

    do you feel BETTER? HOW?

Yes you will feel better!! It may take some time, but you are making a lifestyle change. I am 11 months out and can honestly say that I feel like a whole different person. I have much more energy, I never really feel worn down. There are days that I'm tired, but not like pre-surgery days. I also have more confidence to get out there and do things that I would have been too afraid to before because of my weight. There are so many ways that I feel better. I was afraid that it would suck the little amount of energy I had.. the first few months were tough because my body was going through such a drastic change. But once i got on routine, its amazing just how much energy I have, I have missed out on so many things over the years because I didn't have the energy to do it, or I was embarrassed of what people would say when they saw me try and what if I couldn't do it... so yes I do feel better, and you will too Good luck on your journey!!
  14. Good Morning Everyone! Does anyone know of a good clothing exchange site or place to sell clothing? I have a ton of clothes I have worn maybe once or twice and are too big now. I have tried going to local stores, but they will give just a few dollars if that. I would like to get a little more than 2$ for something that new and in great condition. Any suggestions are welcome Thanks!

    Menstraul Cycle?!?!

' They put mine in once I was out, i don't remember it being put in. When they took it out it didn't hurt, it just felt weird.
  18. Carly4HandinSD

    Menstraul Cycle?!?!

They will do it, I was on mine as well.. it was super embarrassing for me because of the catheter, but that was the least of my worries once I was on the feel good meds You will be fine!

    10 Months out!

10 months and 140 pounds later! I could not be more happy with my results thus far! I went from a tight 26/28 top and bottom to a XL top and size 12 bottom. I have officially out shrunk Lane Bryant! I even managed to put on my husband's size M sweater!!! The journey has had its ups and downs, I had been on a stall for about a month, after meeting with my nutritionist again and reassurance that I am doing things right, the weight started dropping again. I think sometimes when I stress about it, I don't lose the weight. I would love to lose about another 70-80 pounds, but to be more realistic where the doc said I would be probably another 40, if I can get plastics then I can get down the 70-80. SO happy with this lifestyle change! I feel like I am living again! Before was day of surgery, 2nd in black/white skirt is this morning. Its a size 14 skirt and its too big, you can't tell but its pulled all the way up to below my boobs LOL

    "Hair" Today, Gone Tomorrow...

I think the hair loss is inevitable with this surgery.. I had very thick hair before and did lose a lot.. I am 10 months out and it is starting to grow back in now.. its an akward stage becuase i have the fine baby hairs everywhere. It is coming through all over my head, so wearing my hair up is not an option for me right now... I knew the hair loss would come, I have very thin parts that even with longer hair I have to comb it just right. Its scary, and I feel that everyone is staring at my thin hair when before I would always get compliments on it, but I would rather have thin hair and lost the weight that I lost then have tons of beautiful hair and still overweight

    10 Months out!

Thank you everyone! For those that asked about my daily intake, I just follow still exactly what my nutritionaist told me to do. I am very strict on what I eat, I stay between 800-1000 calories based on my excercise for the day, limit my carbs to 40 or under and keep my protein between 60-90 depending on my excercise for the day. I eat 5 small meals a day, no grazing and avoid things that my nutrtionist tells me to. I am probably harsher on myself then I need to be, but it is getting me the results that I need. I know everyone's nutrtionist tells them different things, but if you follow their direction you will get the results

Before and after 11 months !

    You look amazing
  23. OMG, so before surgery and traveling, the hotel bath towels never fit around me.. maybe could get it to cover half of my body and hated it... after recently traveling a lot I got to the hotel took a shower and WHOA a towel fit all the way around with room to spare.. Thinking maybe this hotel just uses larger towels... I tested it at target, picking up a cheap regular sized bath towel and BOOOM same thing it fit around me! So to celebrate when me and my husband got home we got rid of all the large beach towels I used as bath towels... and bought new regular sized bath towels... Haha, who knew towels could be so exciting?!?!?
  24. I was 9 months post op as of June 14th. I have lost 134 pounds since the day of surgery. Pics are from day of surgery and this morning. I still want to lose another 82 pounds or so..but am so ahppy with my results so far. Weight loss has slowed down a lot, but its still coming off.. I am very dedicated to following and tracking my food... I stay within 800-1000 cals a day, at least 60-80 grams of Protein and try to stay under 40 carbs. If i do my work outs which consist of boxing/kickboxing classes at a boxing gym then I up the calories and protein.. I take lots of walks with my husband and dog, the more I lose the more active I become. I hope this helps people who start out with a large amount to lose like myself and are unsure if this can work for them. It can work for you if you use it as a tool to help you. It comes with hard work and will power, but it can be done... I can't say it enough, but I LOVE my sleeve and the new outlook I have on life

    9 months, 134 pounds - Pics included :)

Thank you everyone for the kind words and encouragement. Sometimes we all need that reminder that we have each other for support and hearing your words gives me even more support and motivation to keep going. It is so strange, I flew for the first time since surgery a few weeks ago and i had room on both side of me and the seat belt I had to tighten and had extra left over. It is still hard to beleive at times that I am much smaller than I use to be. I find myself still afraid to squeeze between people thinking I won't fit, but in reality I will with room to spare. When I weight myself I keel seeing the number as 300 something when really I am in the low 200 somethings.. This is something that I could never have imagined and it still is hard to believe that this is really the new me. For those asking about my stats, all my before info is on my profile so check it out there Thank you again everyone, you made my day
