  1. I've been watching Once Upon a Time, and they talk alot about true love. I've experienced teenage love, but my boyfriend cheated on me several times. I ended up being a teenage mom also. I've moved away and have been single for about 10yrs. I'm 34 now, and wonder if I'll ever find true love. I'm hoping that once I have the sleeve, I'll lose weight and be more "desirable." Though, I really want someone to love me for me, thick or thin? Where are guys out there like that, if any? Tired of being single.

When I say "desirable" I mean physically. I'm cute, and have a great personality. I'm just fat. :(

  3. I wish you much success on everything. I'm in VA and my insurance(Anthem BCBS) requires that I complete their 12mth coaching program and attend a weighloss program. I'm currently doing that. My 12mths will be up in September 2013. I'm hoping that I can also get my surgery scheduled for that time also. So I have 10mths left to go. I look at it as 10mths of planning for success.

  4. Thanks. Congrats to you also. I didn't initially start out to have the sleeve, but after reading about the success, and how it is a great tool for weight loss, which I need due to several health issues, I decided to do it. I have to wait 10 more months though. My insurance company requires I undergo their 12 mth coaching program. I see it as a plus, because it gives me time to learn how to be successful and use this tool the right way. I wish you much success!

  5. Thank you guys! My sis was trying to do it subtly to me today. She was like well you may lose weight by then and not need the surgery. She just kept coming up with scenarios where I wouldn't need the surgery. My mom, has been more reserved on it, and just go along with what I say. I've gotten mixed reactions. But, I'm going through with it. I need to lose this weight.

  6. I'm a single mom. I had my son when I was 15, and had a tormultous relationship with his father. Wasted a lot of my life. Now I'm 34, my son is 19, I'm single, and hope to find true love and be married. I also would like to have at least 1 or 2 more children and have the even celebrated. I lost my left ovary due to having a dermoid tumor two years ago. My doc told me on Friday, that I may have a small one growing on my right ovary. I can't have sleeve surgery until next year this time. I've tried losing weight on my own to attract guys but losing weight is a bear as you all know.

Once having the surgery I have to wait 12mths to get pregnant.

I just have so many stressors right now, I'm afraid of how things are going. I don't want to lose my other ovary and my chances of having any more children. Sometimes I feel like I'm being punished for some things i did when I was younger.

    Why me??? :(

  7. Hello fellow Richmonders. I live in Chesterfield and I was sleeved on December 28' date=' 2011 by Dr. Carmody at St. Mary's. I have lost 74 pounds so far, but I feel like I am falling in a rut. I really need some help to get back on track. I didnt go through all of this work to possibly gain back my weight. Does anyone have any advise? Any local support groups?

    Thanks.[/quote']

Hi. I am going to be sleeved by Dr. Carmody, but have to wait 12 mths due to insurance. Can you tell me about your experience with him? What about the support groups at the hospital? Do you go to those? Maybe that will help.

  8. Hello everyone. I'm about 12mths out for surgery. My insurance mandates me to participate in their 12mth weight coaching program. I started in August, so by next August it will be getting more real. I joined the coaching program just to see if having those extra benefits would help me lose weight on my own. After learning more about the sleeve, I've become seriously interested in going ahead and having the surgery.

I have been overweight most of my life, and have some serious health issues like diabetes, HBP, and cholesterol issues. I lost my father and cousin early due to medical issues. I don't want to be next. I'm trying to get it together and as you all know it's not an easy feat.

I am glad that I do have 12mths to make changes necessary for life long success. I'm off to a slow start, but have to really figure out why i'm dragging my feet.

I'm happy to have learned of this group and am looking forward to continuing to learn more from you guys and have support as I move toward having surgery next year.

  9. Redundant Colon is the name.(I looked it up) I've been told that I have longer than average intestines and that they are very curvy. My gastroenterologist told me this after I had a colonoscopy. Has anyone who has had surgery been told that, and if so has your weightloss been slower? I'm just wondering if my intestines would slow up the process or cause me any problems. Thanks for your help.

  10. My insurance requires me to enter their weightloss program 12mths before approving surgery. They give you a weightloss coach, and you have to be also enrolled in a weight program such as WW. Well, initially I joined the program not to have surgery, but to get the added benefit of having a weight coach and nutritionist to see if it would help me in my battle to lose weight.

I've been battling since I was 13 and I'm 34 now. I'm tired of dieting and can't seem to leave the carbs alone. Since joining this forum, I've seen successes and desire to also have that same success. I'm diabetic, have high blood pressure and cholesterol. I've had family members die young because of these diseases, and don't want to enter that fate. I've started thinking seriously about going through with the surgery and getting sleeved.. But, I'm having a hard time now getting my eating habits together, and don't know how things will turn out with the sleeve.

I don't want it to be a failure....

I'm just scared and don't know what I should do. I'm feeling upset with myself because I am having a hard time getting it together. :(
