http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/49805-study-results-about-bandsleevebypass/ this is a good study I saw on another post.
I have a very supportive family, thought my mom is pretty apprehensive simply because her baby its having a surgery that is somewhat elective....
My extended family though... I have very judgmental grandparents and such that I don't feel would support me. I'm letting them think I am doing it on my own because, you know what? I still AM. I can remember being a child at their house for dinner and then telling me and my siblings to count how many times we chewed. That's effed up. I was a skinny kids and put on the weight in about fourth grade at puberty, likely with pcos contributing.
It's a tool. But you are likely saving your life. And doing it now target than when crippled from arthritis or slowly dying from diabetes or hbp... You have a far better recovery time and body than you would if you waited. You were supporting you. That's all you really need in the end.
Also, it's just like a bad experience at a restaurant. Human nature makes people more prone to talk about a horrible experience than a great one. For every one bad thing that happens, there are probably hundreds our even thousands of good. Take stories with a grain of salt.

I was NEVER told I had to get all my Protein in while on my liquid diet. The nut and Dr only stressed not getting dehydrated. I was on clear liquids only for 14 days including drinkable yogurt starting day 4. In that two weeks I only had Protein that came in broth form or yogurt.
every surgeon is different and not every one puts protein on the liquid part. the focus is on healing for those weeks, and if you can do liquid, fine. but stay hydrated. most people will not get to their goal amount of protein until a few months out at least.
all in all i think the OP is referring to handling the taste/texture of protein shakes at any time.

try Syntrax Nectar. they are fruity and you can mix them w less Water and take them as shots. Vitamin Shoppe has them in store. a lot of bariatric online places let you order samplers as well, with one of each flavor. i mix 1 scoop w 4 oz. also matrix makes a min cookie oreo one, and nectar flavors i enjoy are the double stuffed cookie, fuzzy navel, and crystal sky (blue sweettart).

i was scared as to what the dress could be when you said crinoline, but no! it's still gorgeous. not faddish or with telltale signs as to exactly when you got married the first time. congrats!

karen, i also have the pcos, ir, gaining with no end for seemingly no reason.... it sucks. i also am dealing with infertility. been off birth control for 18 mos without a single period. not ovulating. blah. i also thought about actual birth and pregnancy )i'm 27) andi want to be healthy BEFORE and not have a high risk pregnancy that usually comes with pcos if it could even happen with extreme measures.
i am getting sleeved 9/10. i am so excited and i have such a peace about it.
the lap band was my other consideration, but there is a lesser weight loss, and the possibility of slippage or stricture with vomiting, and with intention of pregnancy in the next few years, i do not want to risk emergency surgery or losing a child because of morning sickness.
roux n y seems far more risky, more complications, and harder to deal with for the rest of my life than i care to do. sleeving has been my #1 since day one.
good luck! keep us updated!

you also only started at 215 lbs. Most of these people you are reading about are 275-300+. you are doing just fine.

i am on a prenatal Gummy right now. all women of childbearing age really should be on a prenatal. it promotes general and reproductive health. plus, if for some crazy reason, you get pregnant, you know the foundation is set nutritionally. as long as there is sex to be had, there is ALWAYS a chance lol
for post op i'm going with Celebrate Vitamins. they have formulated specifically for each type of surgery. they know exactly what type and quantity of Vitamins you need for absorption.

i've seen a biotene spray... i would just check around. but the mouthwash is great and not too minty like listerine. they use it to keep the mouths of hospice patients moist at the end, so i was planning on using it to rinse my mouth post op.

i enjoy Syntrax nectar. they are fruity instead of creamy. i like the crystal sky, which is like a blue sweet tart, and fuzzy navel. they are easy to mix with a smaller amount of Water than recommended ( i do 1 scoop 4 oz h20) and take 2 shots. they are about 25g Protein on average. also iforce protean comes in vanilla cupcake batter and red velvet. i haven't tried them, but reviews have been great. i just ordered some.
with the nectar ones, i will also get in an extra serving and mix 1 with my Water for the day and add sweetener to taste. it's a little watered down, but the sweetener helps it to be like lightly flavored koolaid.

i'm sure there are plenty of dummies who see this as an easy way out and skew the success rates for the rest of us.
