  1. I'm trying to decide if I want to go for full Ironman at some point, but the nutrition part...

Last August I did 70.3, I feel as I could of faired a little better with better nutrition during race...but I finished and had an amazing time!

any other triathletes? When doing long training segments, what do you eat/drink along ride or run?

  2. Unfortunately it's a toss up! I had lapband 11/2009 and had it out 9/2012 due to slip and god awful heart burn and reflux issues - insurance wanted me to start ALL over again as a new patient, my Dr had to justify why I shouldn't have to start all over. Thankfully insurance company got their head outta ass and I had sleeve done 10/2012.....best thing I ever did and wish it had been option when I had band done(I'd of skipped band)!

  3. No major complaints

Had a ton of hair to start, now it's just easier to deal with and only 5mins to dry/straighten instead of 15mins. Although when I'm losing hair I could make wigs for everyone! Biotin didn't make a difference.

Being active is so much easier - ran 5k, 10k, handful or so half marathons, marathon, sprint triathlon and Iron man 70.3!

Some change in taste - scrabbled eggs are disgusting!

Sometimes things high in sugar upset my stomach.

Continued issues with heart burn, hiatal hernia repair helped with some of it and now that gallbladder is out, hopefully helps some more.

    Not a single regret!

  4. Gallbladder is out - was a bit more sore than I figured, ugh!! I had hiatal hernia repair in February and it barely phased me!

But feel pretty good today, went to my sons soccer game and a quick stop at dreadful Walmart! Shoulders are still sore from air but I've sneezed a dozen and a half times today and at first feared it being painful, thankfully was okay!

  5. Anyone have gallbladder issues after sleeve?

I'm just shy of 4yrs post sleeve and started having gallbladder issues beginning of this year. The attacks are atypical(?), I get light headed, sometimes dizzy, break out sweating like crazy and feel extremely tired all the time.

    Anyone else have similar symptoms?

Gallbladder goes on October 20th...hoping to feel better and have more energy after!

  6. I'm not sure where this has been the easy way out...but really it's a "tool" to help those who have struggled to lose weight on their own even when eating healthy and exercise.

I tell people all the time, I didn't gain the weight overnight and I didn't expect to lose it overnight even after surgery.

2+ yrs(since sleeve) later I am still busting my ass to lose those last few lbs and maintain my success.

1/21/15 I had a Tummy Tuck to remove excess skin. I told myself prior to scheduling that surgery I needed to be no more than 15lbs from my goal weight, knowing I would have time prior to lose yet. Day of surgery I was 8lbs from my goal.

None of this journey has been a picnic in the park! Sure, some days are better than others and I don't regret doing it one bit.

  7. Don't become a slave to the number on the scale.

If you're doing what you are supposed to, eating right and exercising...don't panic! Everyone is different. I've had long periods of time(6+ months) that I didn't lose anything, but I kept doing what I needed and clothes fit differently even if that number on the scale didn't change.

At one point, I even gained about 12lbs...but my clothes weren't tighter, in fact they were still loose.

Just hang in and keep working hard!

  11. I dread my next closet clean out, as I don't have much to wear anymore as it is!

But it's great to find things that are too big now!

I just had a Tummy Tuck and know that the few pairs of pants I have are surely going to be big now, they were already getting loose.

Keep up your hard work and new clothes are a great reward for progress!

  12. I had revision to gastric sleeve in October 2012. I got back on track to losing the rest of the weight and am within 10lbs of my goal.

1/21/15 I went in for one more surgery. Tummy tuck!! This procedure scared me more than any before. I'm just thankful I feel way better after than I had anticipated. Unfortunately it is hard to tell how good my flat stomach looks yet, still quite a bit of swelling and some bruising. I have 2 drains, one on each hip. I can't wait to see everything once healed!

Anyone else have excess skin removed and how was your experience???
