  1. I'm still here as well....busy enjoying my life as a skinny person! Reached my goal about a year after surgery and have been maintaining ever since. Life is so good. Every day I wake up and hope it wasn't a dream. I feel so blessed. I'm now walking between 6-8 miles every day and feeling stronger and healthier than I have felt in a very long time. I thank the good lord for this miracle that has come my way.

I was sleeved 11/6/12 with a starting weight of 251 lbs. and wearing a size 22. Now I weigh 125 and wear a size 6. Good luck to all the new sleevers. Hang in there for this awesome journey. It was worth the discipline. And to my fellow vets, if you're not at goal now, you can do it!

  2. Wow, I'm very late to this party, but it's amazing to see so many of the experienced vets back here - thank you! Whenever I need inspiration, or guidance, this veterans forum is my favorite place to be! Started off my morning on the wrong foot (in that OTHER forum - why why why do I go there?), and it's so much better here. I just wanted to add another voice of support for supplements and regular labs. I'm about 2.5 years post-op, and still take bariatric-strength supplements religiously - a twice daily Multivitamin, 4x daily extra Calcium, and an Iron supplement (167% RDA), which I'll admit to occasionally taking twice (darn those yummy chewables!). I also eat read meat and spinach regularly. When I had labs done at a year, I was super low on thiamine, and d. I added a b complex, and high dose d to my regimen. Now, 18 months later I recently had labs done again. Thiamine and d (and b12) are great, but my ferritin levels are at 2. Last year they were on the low end of the normal range (12 or 15 - 150), I think I was at around 15. So, despite my regular supplementation, I've dropped to super-low levels. I've been on a high dose timed release ferritin supplement, hoping to get my levels up without having to resort to infusions, I'll know in another 6 weeks if it's working. My symptoms were fortunately pretty mild, so don't count on that necessarily as a warning sign! Lots of folks think sleeve patients don't need to worry about regular blood work because we're less prone to deficiencies than RNY patients, but "less prone" doesn't mean "not prone", right?

Hi everyone. I'm 14 months post-op and struggle with maintenance. My iron has been very low and I take an iron supplement every night. Escape, can you tell me which iron supplement you take? I have tried several and they really tear me up. This thread is a great reminder to keep up the supplements. Thanks all.

  3. I finally hit my second big milestone over the weekend' date=' I've now lost over 100lbs...still not halfway to my goal but life is getting better and better every day. I walk at least a mile every day, and on the weekend I try to do at least one two mile walk (that is my limit for right now). I feel so much better and am so much more active both at work and at home. Even contacted a personal trainer this weekend to see if I can't start actually getting in shape again. For over thirty years I've been waging a loosing war with nothing but wieght gain, it's great to finally win a battle and loose some weight...Go Sleeve![/quote']

Welcome to the century club! Congrats on your hard work and dedication.

  4. Dang this cold, nasty weather! Another grocery store aisle-walking event for me tonight. If this rain keeps up the grocery stores in my neighborhood are going to post pictures of me and label me a food stalker or something! LOL

Got in 8 miles today for a total of 73.5

  5. Colder. Wetter. Even more miserable today. Walked 6.5 miles for a total of 65.5. Had to walk up and down the grocery store aisles about a hundred times to get some miles in today! LOL. Clerks kept asking me if they could help me find something! LOL

  6. I am not gonna lie. Just didn't want to today. I did a really dumb thing Sat and suffering for it now. Decided to change out my bedding so I lifted my tempurpedic king mattress up and held it up with my head and shoulders while I put on a new bed skirt. I knew immediately after letting it down I had screwed up. (C5/6 bulging discs in neck). SOOO' date=' now I can't turn my head sideways or up and Down without pain. Tins unit, flex aril and meloxacam are my friends right now. Only 1.1 mile in today. :(. Total 24.7.[/quote']

Oh no! That is a major bummer. Take it easy and feel better quick! You might need to join Butter on the porch with a quilt of your own.

  7. Hahahaha. "Lady' date=' step away from the Quest bars!"[/quote']

I think I may be addicted! They digest so much easier than real food...plus there is no cooking involved, which means no dirty pots or pans to clean up. Just one small wrapper to dispose of! LOL

  8. I'm sad! Just discovered I forgot to wear my Fitbit this morning when I got dressed. :(

Now that really is a bummer! I did that one time too many so I bought the fit flex and it stays on all the time. On the down side it sorta looks like a home arrest monitoring device!
