  1. I look forward to putting my bra on the regular way...

Not feeling anxiety about whether I'll fit in a restaurant booth...

Not feeling like everyone is staring at me all the time...

Actually enjoying the fitting room again...

Inspiring family members to get their weight under control...

Buying the coupe version of my car...

Wearing skirts and dresses to work without fear of my weird lumps poking through...

Going to places that have arena/stadium seating, comfortably...

    Attempting to walk in heels...

Not feeling that thigh tightness when I have to hold my leg up while getting a pedicure...

I'm sure there's more, but that's what immediately comes to mind

  2. I had to do 3 week pre op as well...mine was completely full liquid with no meals allowed. It was HARD!!!! To be honest, I was far from perfect and was TERRIFIED that my surgeon was going to tell me my liver was too big for him to operate. When I woke up and saw that everything went like it was supposed to, I was BEYOND grateful!

  3. So glad I'm not the only one! I prepared for the pre op diet weeks before I actually had to start, but as soon as it officially started I fell off the wagon! I'm bad about taking one bite of something and then just counting the whole day as "ruined" and then eating pretty much what I want.

I've been on it for 2 weeks and have only had 6 days of doing it the "right" way.

So scared I'm not shrinking my liver enough. I got some new Protein shakes that I really like, so I'm hoping to truly make this last week of preop count

  4. Same here :/. I have BCBSTX through a local school district. My employer elected not to cover WLS, but I do have general benefits that would cover the hernia repair…HOWEVER, it would have to be at one of the in-network facilities and all of the places that offer the surgical discount w/ hernia repair are out of network. Bummer!

I've decided not to let the insurance thing hold me back. Headed to Mexico w/ Dr. Alvarez in March.

  5. I'll be having my VSG with Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras on Saturday, March 7th. He cost a bit more than others, but I feel a peace that surpasses all understanding in regards to this doctor.

I chose this date because I am a teacher and that is the weekend leading into Spring Break. HOPEFULLY I can take that week to recover and be ready to go back to work on the 16th. I also chose a date a little further out so I could have time to get my mental together. I'm not nervous about the actual procedure, just about doing my part AFTER the procedure.

I am coming from the Dallas area, so I plan to make the 6 hour drive on Friday after work. As of now, my sister is coming with me. Road trip! :)

I've been OBSESSED with reading pre-op threads ever since I got my date. My CLEAR liquid pre-op is supposed to start on February 14th (3 weeks long!). I KNOW this will be hard for me, so I've decided on a plan to help ease the transition some.

Starting December 1st, I will do 1 week of Clear liquids, then 1 week of "post VSG eating", then another week of Clear Liquids, and another week of "post VSG eating"...and so forth all the way until it's time for me to officially start the liquid diet.

The countdown has begun! 104 days from today, I will begin my journey toward a healthier, happier me!
