  1. Hey All,

I just have a few questions, I am pre-op and I would like to learn as much as I can. I have been looking around this site a lot, and there is great information. Here are my questions... Thanks so much!

    - I know everyone is different, but I worry about saggy skin. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or lessen the sag?

    - If you are only drinking liquids in the beginning, do you still poop? (Maybe a dumb question, but I have never thought of it before)

    - I am really scared about Hair loss, I really like my hair… is there anything I can do to prevent or lessen it, maybe different Vitamins or shampoos?

    - My tentative surgery date is August 14th, assuming all pre-tests go well. Is it normal that I have not been put on an official diet yet? I noticed a lot of people say there were on a Protein diet or liquid diet. I am still over a week out from surgery, but I have been amping up my protein intake just in case.

    - I love whiskey and can drink a lot, will that change for me? Does anyones tastes change?

  2. Oh, I have been to psychologists and I have faced my demons, straight in the eyes, so I know why I gained weight in the first place, and I am at peace with that. Most of my problems, physical and emotional are because of my weight.

I believe I am at this point too. I have faced my problems, but my weight is holding me back from alot. I am ready for the change, I too am having an issue believing this will happen soon.

The first place I went to, after they got my down payment, everyone was rude and I realized they were to many others. They were pushing me into lap band too. So I changed surgeons, this guy and his staff are so nice, it is nice to feel like someone wants to help. This is when I first learned about the sleeve.

I am self pay, so I also went through the rejection of one loan, I was down that day, really down. But I got back up and tried again, got a higher loan at a better rate at another place.

Good luck and keep the faith. I know it is easier said than done (I am very impatient), but December will come and you will be happy. I have only been a member since yesterday, but this site has helped alot.

  3. Very good post and good information in it. Thin people never understand what it is like. It is not about vanity, it is about health. The clothes in the mall is a good example too. I am tired of shopping at Lane Bryant, I love their clothes, but they are so expensive.

I want to be able to shop at normal stores, and I don't plan on being thin, chuncky and healthy is fine with me!

  4. I told EVERYONE when I went back.

I too am planning on telling everyone when it is all said and done. I have told my family and those closest to me, I have made up my mind and I do not want anyone trying to 'scare' me into not doing it, or trying to convince me otherwise. This is what I want to do, and I too hope I can be there for others who have questions and offer helpful advice.

  5. I am I only telling those close to me now. As I do not want anyone trying to think they can change my mind. This is my choice and I am ready.

Afterwards I don't foresee a problem with me telling people. And those who may be judgemental at first will see how good and healthy I am looking, so then they will have no place to say anything.

I am actually using judgemental people to my advantage. I AM going to prove them wrong. I will make this a success. That is the way I see things. (although explaining it to everyone may get boring, maybe I can inspire someone else to try by sharing)

  6. Hello,

My name is Tracy and I am new to this site. There seems to be a lot of helpful information and caring people on here. I was going to get the Lap Band at first, as I was with another clinic and they upsold it. I found out they had an F from the BBB. I found Dr Welle and read more about him and his practice, I was impressed. I found out about the Sleeve from them, and went to talk with him yesterday and it seems like such a better choice for me (both the sleeve and his practice).

I am excited to start this new journey and since I am self-pay (my Cigna plan has no bariatric coverage), I will not have to wait long. About 2-3 weeks until surgery, depending on how fast I can get pre-op testing done.

I look forward to talking with you all and looking at the information on this site.
